Former Drone Video of the Week Winner sinaysky brings us this stunning drone video of the well-preserved medieval town of Kotor in Montenegro.  Located at the southern end of the innermost part of the Bay of Kotor on Montenegro's northern coastline, the city saw its first fortifications built shortly after the fall of the Roman Empire.  Due to its highly strategic location, it became  heavily fortified during the long period of Venetian rule from the 15th through the 18th centuries.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 drone.    

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner sinaysky brings us this stunning drone video from the Bay of Kotor in the Southeast European country of Montenegro.  The video opens with a shot from the town of Kotor, which lies at the southern end of the inner part of the bay (an inlet of the Adriatic Sea).  Then you'll head north to the bay's two tiny islands: the  Island of Saint George and Island of Our Lady of the Rocks.  At around the 2:10 mark, you'll get a nice view of the town of Tivat, which lies on the eastern side of the outer bay.

Check out this fantastic drone video from the mountains of Montenegro in Southeastern Europe, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Winner sinaysky.  The video, which was created from footage from a DJI Mini 3 Pro as well as a DJI FPV drone, was filmed over Durmitor National Park, in the northern part of the roughly diamond-shaped country.  The park encompasses the Durmitor Mountains, one of several ranges which cover much of the central and eastern part of the country.  The Durmitor Mountains are part of the Dinaric Alps.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro brings us this stunning drone video from the mountains of Montenegro, the small Southeast European country which was once part of the Yugoslav Confederation.  Aside from a narrow coastal plain, most of the 5.3k square mi. (13.8k square km) of Montenegro's land area is covered by mountains, all of which are part of the Dinaric Alps.  Home to some of the most rugged terrain in Europe, the Montenegran mountains reach peak altitudes of up to 8.3k ft. above sea level (about 2.5k m).  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner sinaysky brings us this stunning drone video of Porto Montenegro, an exclusive marina and yachting paradise in the small Balkan nation of Montenegro.  Located in the Bay of Kotor, the world-renowned marina has become famous for its magnificent waterfront residences, luxury shops, million-dollar yachts, epic swimming pools, and more.  The first comprehensive deep water marina on the Adriatic Sea, Porto Montenegro is situated in Tivat, one of the principal towns on the bay.  

Former DVOW Winner sinaysky bings us this fantastic drone video from the town of Perast, Montenegro.  Perast lies on the northern side of the inner part of Kotor Bay, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea located at the northern end of the Montenegran coastline.  Due to its strategic location, Perast became an important (and heavily fortified) outpost of Venice during the time when that city-state's empire controlled much of the eastern Mediterrean region.  The video includes outstanding footage of the St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks islets.  

Top AirVuz contributor earned a spot as a DVOW Finalist in March, 2023 with this fantastic video from the Durmitor Mountains in Montenegro.  Located in the northern part of this Balkan country, the limestone peaks are part of the Dinaric Alps chain which runs down the western side of the Balkan Peninsula.  The video features shots of Sedlena Greva mountain at the :37 mark, Savin Kuk mountain (:46), Medjed mountain (:49), and Black Lake (:58); starting at 1:07 there's a fantastic first person view (FPV) drone shot skimming along a ridge.  

For his first upload to AirVuz, contributor Theo Silkstone created this beautiful drone tour of the Southeast European nation of Montenegro.  Watch it to see aerial views of the following locations: Durmitor National Park in the country's mountainous northwest; the fortified port of Kotor on the eponymously named bay; the Adriatic islands of Ada Bojana and tiny Sveti Stefan; and Lake Skadar, the regions largest lake, across which lies the fellow Balkan country of Albania. Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro brings us this fantastic sunset drone video from the seaside town of Budva, Montenegro.  Located roughly halfway down the country's Adriatic Sea coastline, Budva is an old walled town whose architecture was heavily influenced by the nearly 400 year during which it was controlled by the Venetian Empire.  It's the heart of the Budva Riviera, a roughly 22 mi (around 35 km) stretch of coastline which has emerged as one of the up-and-coming beach and sailing destinations in Europe.  

Take in these stunning drone views of Montenegro, compliments of talented AirVuz content creator and pilot Nikola Zindovic.  The video was filmed over the interior of this Southeast European country, which was joined with Serbia until 2006.  You'll be treated to some outstanding aerial views of some of the most rugged alpine scenery in Europe: but for a narrow coastal plain along the Adriatic Sea, Montenegro is largely covered by the Dinaric Alps, which have elevations of up to just under 8.3k ft. above sea level or around 2.5k m.

Ulcinj is one of the cultural and historical treasures of the tiny Southeast European country of Montenegro.  One of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic Sea, it's located on the southern end of the Montenegran coastline, just north of the border with Albania.  Founded in the 5th century BC, Ulcinj has been influenced by Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Venetian cultures (among others).  You can see it above in this fantastic drone video by gezimmavric, which was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest in May, 2021. 

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro brings us another fantastic aerial video from this Southeast European Country.  The video was filmed in the course of a hike to the peak of Mt. Pasjak, which rises to a summit elevation of about 6.6k ft. above sea level or a bit over 2k m.  The mountain is part of the Komovi Mountain range, itself part of the Dinaric Alps range that runs down the western side of the Balkan Peninsula.  The Komovi are located in the southern part of the country, near the border with Albania.  

Montenegro's Bay of Kotor, also known as Boka Bay, is one of the largest inlets of the Adriatic Sea.  It's actually a system of connected bays, the mouth of which is at the country's northern boundary with Croatia.  With its protected waters, and ringed by towns and other cultural landmarks, the bay has become one of the top sailing destinations in the Mediterranean region.  Check out the Bay of Kotor sailing scene from above in this DVOW nominated film from top contributor Beautiful Montenegro. 

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Beautiful Montenegro brings us this fantastic drone video of the Old Town of Budva in the Southeast European country of Montenegro.  It's the centerpiece of the Budva Riviera, a stretch of Adriatic Sea coastline which has emerged as a major tourist destination.  Situated at the head of a natural harbor, Budva's Old Town was largely built during the nearly 400  year period (1420-1797) when the town (like much of the eastern Mediterranean region) was under the control of the Venetian Empire.   

One of the treasures of Kotor Bay in the Balkan nation of Montenegro is the town of Perast.  It lies on the northern side of the inner part of the bay, which is an inlet of the Adriatic Sea.  Initially settled during the Neolithic period, the town of Perast was founded by Ilyrians during the Antiquity.  Perast was heavily fortified during the centuries when most of the Adratic Sea was controlled by Venice.  You can see the magnificently well preserved town from above in this DVOW Finalist video by Beautiful Montenegro.

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner sinaysky brings us this excellent drone video of a centuries-old festival in the village of Perast, Montenegro.  The Fashinada is held on July 22 every year on the island of Our Lady of the Rocks, a tiny artificial island just west of the village in Kotor Bay, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea on Montenegro's northern coastline.   During Fashinada, which dates back almost 600 years, participants throw rocks into the sea, the method by which the tiny islet was created during medieval times.  

Here's a fantastic drone video of the Southeast European country of Montenegro, compliments of AirVuz contributor robbie08.  The video opens with great shots of the two tiny islands which lie in the Bay of Kotor near the town of Perast.  Starting at the :25 mark, you'll see the seaside town of Petrovac, which lies on Montegro's southern Adriatic Sea coastline.  Another highlight shot starts at the 1:10 mark, in which you'll fly over the great castle of Bar, which is situated in the middle of the coastline. 

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner sinaysky brings us this stunning Holiday drone video from the town of Kotor in Montenegro.  The town is located on the inner part of Kotor Bay, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea which is not far from the country's northern borders with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.  The well-preserved town was once one of the most important (and heavily fortified) strongholds of the Venetian Empire from the 15th to through the 18th centuries, and its architecture reflects this strong heritage. 

New contributor Nikola Zindovic created this amazing wintertime drone video of Montenegro's Tara Canyon, the deepest river gorge in Europe.  Cut by the eponymous river, it's situated in the northern part of this Balkan country.  The maximum depth of the canyon is an incredible 1.3k meters (about 4.3k ft.), making it the deepest canyon in Europe and one of the deepest in the world.  The Montenegrin part of the canyon is within a national park and is one of the country's biggest tourist destinations.  

Sveti Stefan is a tiny island off coast of the Balkan nation of Montenegro in the eastern Adriatic Sea.  Dating to the 15th century, the island is now connected to the mainland by a tiny isthmus.  Sveti Stefan has a long history and was the summer home of the Queen of Montenegro in the 1930's.  It was recently converted to a five star luxury resort operated by Aman Resorts.  Top contributor  and pilot Minglam used a drone to film this tiny island with its distinctive red roofs amidst a bright blue sea.  

Skadar Lake is the largest freshwater body in southeastern Europe.  The lake lies on the border between Montenegro and Albania in the Balkans.  It covers a surface area of about 500 square km (about 200 square mi.).  The lake is connected to the nearby Adriatic Sea by the Bojana River and is also connected by another river to Lake Ohrid, another important lake in the region.  Contributor Fox Creativity flew a DJI drone over this lovely Balkan lake one fine morning, creating this memorable bird's eye view.  

Former DVOW Winner sinaysky brings us this stunning drone video of the Prokletije Mountains in the small Southeast European country of Montenegro.  The video, which consists primarily of first person view (FPV) footage,  was filmed over the Grebaje Valley in Prokletije National Park, in the northern part of the roughly diamond-shaped country.   Part of the Dinaric Alps chain of mountains which line the western side of the Balkan Peninsula, the Prokletije Mountains also cover portions of Montenegro neighbors Albania and Kosovo.

Bar is a coastal town and seaport in southern Montenegro. Sitting on the Adriatic Sea, it is one of the country's emerging tourist destinations.  The town lies approximately 53 km (33 mi) from Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.  In 1904, the city  was the site of one of the world's first radio transmissions, by the Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi.  Contributor and drone pilot Alex Avsharov used a drone to fly over the town and its magnificent castle, giving us this epic bird's eye view of this well preserved Adriatic treasure.  

Durmitor National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nestled in northern Montenegro on the Balkan Peninsula, it was formed by glaciers thousands of years ago and is now the largest protected space in Montenegro. Drone pilot Beautiful Montenegro takes us on a snowy flight through the majestic landscape of the limestone masstif in the Dinaric Alps.  The Dinaric Alps is a chain extending southwest from the Julian Alps in Slovenia and runs parallel to the Adriatic Sea coastline of the Balkan Peninsula.    

Saint Nikola Island (Sveti Nikola) is a small island off the coast of Montenegro in Southeastern Europe.  It's located just a kilometer (.6 mi.) off the coastal town of Budva in the eastern Adriatic Sea.  This small isle, just 2 km (1.2 mi.) long, is known for its beautiful white sand beaches.  The island is an easy day trip for visitors to Budva, a popular destination in this former Yugoslavian country.  You can see this beautiful island from a bird's eye perspective in this drone video from Beautiful Montenegro.

Dronesanata007 created this awesome drone's eye view of Petrovac, a beach village located midway down the Adriatic coast of the Southeast European nation of Montenegro in the municipality of Budva.  The video opens with a flyover to two tiny islets off the city's coast, Katic and Sveta Neđelja, one of which has a tiny iconic-looking building situated at the top of the rock.  Then he swings over to the village itself, an increasingly popular beach resort destination which sparkles against the deep blue waters.  

Contributor Soliteras created this beautiful aerial video of the Komovi Mountain area in the interior of Montenegro, on the Balkan Peninsula.  Montenegro, which broke off to become independent from Serbia in 2006 following a popular referendum, is a mostly mountainous country once one travels any distance inland from its Adriatic Sea coastline.  These spectacular mountains run a bit to the west of the country's highest peaks, which are along the country's eastern border with Serbia.  

Check out this amazing drone video of a modern-era fortress in Montenegro, compliments of contributor FoxCreative.  Fort Gorazda is situated near the town of Kotor, the principal city of Kotor Bay.  The fortress was built in the late 19th century by Austria-Hungary as a means to protect their naval base in the Bay of Kotor.  The fort saw some action during World War I as Austria-Hungary battled Allied-aligned forces, and was used by the Yugoslav Army until the country dissolved in the early 1990's.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro brings us this excellent drone video from a pair of lakes in the Southeast European country of Montenegro.  The first, Piva Lake, is actually a reservoir.  Located in the northern part of the country, it was created in connection with the construction of the Piva River.  The second, Black Lake, is a glacial lake - it's actually two lakes connected by a strait which dries up in the summer.  It's located within the massif of Mt. Durmitor, also in Montenego's north.  

Check out this aerial video of a beautiful town on Montenegro's Bay of Kotor, compliments of contributor and drone pilot Bocini.  Tivat is an ancient town located on the western side of the Luštica Peninsula, which extends into the bay from the south.  The town features prominently in numerous local legends and works of literature from the area during the Middle Ages.  It was also used as a naval base by Austria Hungary and later by Italy during its occupation of the area during World War II.  

Ostrog Monastery is one of the most well-known cultural landmarks of Montenegro, the Southeast European country which achieved independence from Serbia in the early 2000's.  Built into the side of a giant rock above the Plain of Bjelopavlići near the geographic center of the country, the Serbian Orthodox monastery was founded in the 17th century and underwent substantial renovation in the 1920's.   Seen here in this drone video by top AirVuz contributor Beautiful Montenegro, it's dedicated to St. Basil of Ostrog (1610-1671).  

Bukumirski Lake is located in beautiful Podgorica, Montenegro. A short distance (50 kilometers or 31 miles) from the capital city Padgorica, the picturesque lake is a popular location for picnics and relaxation for locals. Like much of the country, the lake is in the mountains; it has an altitude of about 1.4k meters (around 4.5k ft.) above sea level.  Leave it to cinematographers and aerial pilots Beautiful Montenegro to capture the lake in the most breathtaking way - from their drone in 4K video quality.

Check out this beautiful drone video of a well known church in the Southeast European country of Montenegro, compliments of contributor and pilot Beautiful Montenegro.  The Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ is located in Podgorica, the country's capital city.  The Eastern Orthodox church was completed in 2013, following a (war-interrupted) construction period which took 20 years.  The church is situated in the newer part of Padgorica, across the Morača River from the city's old town.  

The Komovi Mountains cover a portion of eastern Montenegro in Southeastern Europe.  They are part of the Dinaric Alps, a chain of mountains which runs along the western side of the Balkan Peninsula from Slovenia in the north to Albania in the south.  Seen here in this excellent drone video by top AirVuz contributor Beautiful Montenegro, the Komovi's highest peak (Kom Kučki) reaches an altitude of just under 8.2k ft. above sea level, or around 2.5k m; there are three other sister peaks with altitudes of over 7.5k ft. or around 2.3k m.   

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro serves up this beautiful springtime drone video of Podgorica, the capital of the small Southeast European nation.  The city is situated at the confluence of the Rivers Ribnica and Morača, a bit inland from the country's Adriatic Sea coastline.  The "star" of the video is the Millennium Bridge, one of Montenegro's most recognizable landmarks, which was opened in 2005.  You'll also get some nice aerial views of the Cathedral of the Resurrection, which was completed in 2013.   

Check out these stunning wintertime sunset drone views of the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, compliments of multiple DVOW Winner Beautiful Montenegro.  The bay is an inlet of the Adriatic Sea on the northern end of Montenegro's coastline, just southeast of Croatia's Dalmatian Coast.  The bay, which has an inner and outer section, is largely surrounded by mountains: the Orjen Mountains to the west and the Lovćen Mountains to the east, both of which are part of the Dinaric Alps system which runs down most of the western Balkan Peninsula.

Top contributor Beautiful Montenegro created this stunning drone video of Lovćen Mountain in southwestern Montenegro.  Most of the area around the mountain is part of a national park.  It sits in a part of the country where the coastal plain transitions to mountains.  Lovćen Mountain is of considerable cultural significance in this Southeastern European country and former Yugoslav Confederation member.  Among other things, the name "Montenegro" derives from the appearance of the mountain covered in dark forests.  

Here's an amazing drone video of a beautiful spot on the coast of Montenegro, compliments of top content creator and pilot Beautiful Montenegro.  Bečići is a town in the municipality of Budva, which lies about midway down the country's Adriatic Sea coastline.  The beach here is considered one of the finest in Europe.  It's home to a five star lodging property called Hotel Splendid, where luminaries such as the Rolling Stones and Brad Pitt have stayed on travels to this Southeast European country.  

Contributor and pilot Fox Creative created this excellent aerial view of a well-known Orthodox Monastery in the Balkan nation of Montenegro.  Savina Monastery is located near the city of Herceg Novi on the Bay of Kotor, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea. The monastery dates to the 15th century.  The complex consists of three churches: the Church of the Assumption, the Great Temple of the Assumption, and the Church of St. Sava.  Savina also houses a number of important relics from a medieval Serb dynasty.

Check out this beautiful drone video of the small seaside village of Pržno, Montenegro, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Beautiful Montenegro.  The small village of Pržno lies on the Budva Riviera, as the 35 km (around 20 mi.) stretch of Montenegro's western (Adriatic Sea) coastline around the larger town of Budva has come to be known.   Pržno lies just a short walk from the iconic island of Sveti Stefan, which is situated immediately to its south.

Beautiful Montenegro created this fantastic drone video of Skadar Lake, one of the natural wonders of Southeastern Europe.  The oval-shaped body of water forms the border between the nations of Montenegro (formerly part of the Yugoslav Federation) and Albania.  This shallow lake (its maximum depth is only a bit over 8 meters or about 27 ft.) is fed in part by underground streams and varies in size, but is as large as 530 square km (around 200 square mi) making it one of Europe's largest lakes.  

Contributor AlexAvsharov created this beautiful drone video of a church in the town of Prčanj, Montenegro.  The town is situated on the west side of the inner section of the bay,north of the town of Kotor.  The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the town's main landmarks.  Built in the Baroque style, construction of the church started in the late 18th century but it wasn't completed until the 20th.  It's a popular tourist stop on the Bay of Kotor, one of the main destination regions of Montenegro.  

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Beautiful Montenegro brings us this excellent drone video of Tivat Bay in the tiny Southeast European country of Montenegro.  Tivat Bay is actually part of the larger Bay of Kotor; the name informally denotes the southeastern part of outer Kotor Bay, around the town of Tivat itself.  The video features footage of the town of Tivat, Sveti Marko Island (formerly known as Stradioti), Prevlaka Island (aka the Island of Flowers), and the tiny islet of Our Lady of Mercy (Gospa od Milosti), and more.  

Montenegro's Mt. Rumija is one of the natural and cultural treasures of this Southeast European country.  Part of the Dinaric Alps range which runs along the western side of the Balkan Peninsula, the mountain's peak is about 1.6k meters above sea level (just over 5.2k ft.).  Located in the southern part of the country, the mountain plays a key role during an important summer religious festival, when the Cross of Vladimir is carried to its peak.  See the beautiful peak in this drone video by top contributor Beautiful Montenegro.

Take in these magnificent first person view (FPV) drone views of Montenegro's Durmitor Mountains, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot sinaysky.  Part of the Dinaric Alps (a chain of mountains which runs down the western side of the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe), the Durmitor massif is located in the northern part of the approximately diamond-shaped country.  Largely contained within Durmitor National Park, the highest elevation in Durmitor is about 8.3k ft. above sea level or around 2.5k m.  

Top AirVuz contributor Beautiful Montenegro brings us this stunning drone video of the Ćehotina River, which runs a course of about 80 mi. (around 125 km) and serves as the boundary between Montenegro and Bosnia Herzegovina for much of its course.  The area filmed is over a "meander" in the river near the northern border of Montenegro, shortly upstream from the point where the river veers to the west to join the Drina River in Bosnia.  The Drina in turn is the largest tributary of the Sava, one of the largest tributaries of the Danube.  

Check out this drone video of a beautiful spot on the Adriatic Sea coast of Montenegro, compliments of top AirVuz contributor Beautiful Montenegro.  Perazica Do Beach is situated roughly in the middle of the country's western coast, a bit north of Petrovac and well to the south of Budva.  Once all but unknown, the area has become increasingly popular in recent years, as resorts have sprung up below the hills which line the coast here.  Shot in winter, the video brings out the beauty of the area and its crystal-clear waters.   

Žabljak Crnojevića is a famous medieval fortress in Montenegro, a small country of the Balkans region of Southeastern Europe.  Seen in this drone video by former Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro, the fortification is situated near the mouth of the Morača River in Lake Skadar, in the southern part of the country.  Dating to the 10th century AD, the fortress came under Ottoman control in 1478 near the end of the First Ottoman–Venetian War.  Ottoman control was relinquished in 1878 pursuant to the Treaty of Berlin.

The city of Kotor, Montenegro sits at the southern end of the inner section of the Bay of Kotor, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea.  During the long centuries when the great city-state of Venice dominated the eastern Mediterranean, Kotor became one of the most important fortified strongholds, withstanding sieges by the Ottomans in 1538 and 1657.  In this marvelous drone video by AirVuz contributor The Hobby Traveler, you'll get an aerial tour of San Giovanni (St. John's Fortress), one of the key components of this giant defensive system.

Take in these stunning drone views of a mountain in the small Balkan nation of Montenegro, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro. Portonovi is a luxury resort under construction in Montenegro in Southeastern Europe.  It's situated on Boka Bay, an inlet leading to Kotor Bay in the northwestern part of the country.  With 238 berths in its marina for visiting boats, it is expected to become one of the prime destinations for the rapidly growing Adriatic Sea yachting community.  In this drone video by jasa.jovicevic, you'll get a bird's eye view of this five star property as it is taking shape.  The resort is expected to open in the Spring of 2020.    

Top contributor Minglam created this beautiful captioned tour of some of the most well-known sights in the Balkan nation of Montenegro.  The video focuses on the two hottest spots in the country.  The first is the area around the Adriatic town of Budva, including the tiny islet of Sveti Stefan; this has become known as the Budva Riviera for its growing comparison to its famous French counterpart.  The other is the area in and around the Bay of Kotor, a collection of bays and sub-bays which lies a bit to the north.  

Drone pilot and contributor gezimmavric is one lucky guy to be able to call Ulcinj, Montenegro his "home base." Resting near the southern tip of Montenegro's coastline on the Adriatic Sea, Ulcinj is a destination for those who enjoy soaking in the sun while swimming or surfing in the pristine waters of this extension of the Mediterranean.  Ulcinj is also known as a historical treasure; the city was founded in the 5th century BC and is believed to be one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic's eastern shores.   

Bečići Beach is one of the most famous in the Southeast European country of Montenegro.  The beach stretches for a bit over a mile (around 2 km) along the Adriatic Sea, a little southeast of the town of Budva.  Seen in this drone video by multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro, most of its beachfront is occupied by high-end hotels and resorts, including the five star Hotel Splendid.  Bečići Beach is part of the Budva Riviera, a roughly 20 mi. (35 km) stretch of coastline surrounding Budva.  

Check out this drone video of a famous Serbian Orthodox monastery in Montenegro, compliments of new AirVuz contributor Nikola Zindovic.  It's called the Morača Monastery, and it's located near the middle of this small Southeast European country, in the valley of the complex's namesake river.  Founded in the mid-13th century, the monastery was burned by encroaching Ottoman forces in 1505.  It's known not only for its architecture but also for its frescoes, the oldest of which depicts the prophet Elijah.  

The Monastery of Ostrog is one of the cultural treasures of the Southeast European nation of Montenegro.  Established in the 17th century, it's built into a a cliff called Ostroška Greda in the municipality of Danilovgrad Municipality, near the geographic center of the country.  Dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog, it's one of the most popular pilgrimage sites of the Serbian Orthodox church, a branch of Eastern Orthodoxy.  Check out the famous monastery from above in this drone video by FoxCreative.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro brings us this excellent drone video from the mountains of Montenegro, a small Southeast European country which was part of Serbia until 2006 (and before that, Yugoslavia).  The video was filmed in the area around Lukavica Mountain, which is located near the city of Nikšić, close to the geographic center of the country.  The mountain is part of the Dinaric Alps, a chain of mountains which extends down the western side of the Balkan Peninsula.  

The views of the incredibly scenic islet of Sveti Stefan in Montenegro have long been best seen from above, however, drones now make these views easier to appreciate more than ever.  FPV Pilot se_fpv flew over both the island resort and the surrounding mountains and beaches, as well as all the way to the beautiful setting of the St. Sava orthodox monastery, high above the shoreline.  His travel video impressed us all, and for that, we put se_fpv on our February 2020 Pilots to Watch List.

Check out this spectacular drone video of a fog-covered Podgorica, Montenegro, compliments of contributor Beautiful Montenegro.  Podgorica is the largest city and capital of this country, which was part of Serbia from 1991-2006 and before that part of the Yugoslav Federation.  The city is located in a valley in the interior of the country, where the rivers Ribnica and Morača become one.  During the days of the Yugoslav Federation, the city was named Titograd in honor of the country's president.

Montenegro's Bay of Kotor is one of the largest inlets on the Adriatic Sea.  The city of Kotor, which sits at the southern end of its inner section, became a key asset of Venice during the centuries when the great city-state dominated the eastern Mediterranean.  It became one of the most heavily fortified cities in the world, withstanding sieges by the Ottomans in 1538 and 1657.  In this marvelous drone video by dlockhart05, you'll get an aerial tour of this historical treasure, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.   

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Beautiful Montenegro brings us this excellent drone video from a well-known beach on Montenegro's southern coastline.  It's called Velika Plaža, and it's located in the Ulcinj Municipality, which covers the southernmost territory of the country.  Translated roughly as "Big Beach", it runs for 8 miles (around 13 km) along the Adriatic Sea coast, making it the country's longest beach.  Unlike the Budva Riviera further north, it's largely undeveloped land.  

Check out these beautiful drone views of Mojkovac, Montenego by AirVuz contributor Nikola Zindovic.   Mojkovac is located in the (largely mountainous) northeastern part of the country, not far from the Serbian border.  It's situated on the banks of the Tara River, which drains a section of the Dinaric Alps into the Danube River via a series of intermediate tributaries.   The town of Mojkovac has a full-time resident population of about 3.6k, and it's part of its namesake municipality which has a population of around 8.6k.

VanSleepers created this epic aerial of Montenegro's Tara Canyon, the deepest river gorge in Europe.  Cut by the eponymous river, it's situated in the northern part of this Balkan country, in parts forming the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The maximum depth of the canyon is an incredible 1.3k meters (about 4.3k ft.), making it the deepest canyon in Europe and one of the deepest in the world.  The Montenegrin part of the canyon is within a national park and is one of the country's biggest tourist destinations.  

Contributor Foxcreativity used a drone to film one of the most famous monasteries in Southeastern Europe.  The Monastery of Ostrog is built into a hilltop near the town of Danilovgrad in central Montenegro.  It was originally constructed in the 17th century and largely rebuilt following a fire in the early 20th century.  The monastery is dedicated to St. Basil of Ostrog, a Serbian bishop who lived in the 17th century and is sainted by the Eastern Orthodox Church.  It's considered a top cultural destination in Montenegro.

Explore the medieval town of Kotor, Montenego in this excellent drone video by Nikola Zindovic.  Kotor is located in the inner part of its namesake bay, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea which lies towards the northern end of Montenegro's coastline.  Due to its strategic location, Kotor served as an important outpost of the Venetian Empire during the centuries when Venice was the leading power in the Adriatic region.  The video features footage of the old town itself as well as the extensive fortifications just above it.  

Top contributor Beautiful Montenegro used a drone to track the path of a bus tour around the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro.  Considered an inlet of the Adriatic Sea, Kotor Bay is home to some of the best-preserved medieval towns in Southeastern Europe.  The bay consists of a number of sub-bays connected together by narrow inlets, and backdropped by mountains.  It's become one of the top tourist destinations in Montenegro, which was part of Serbia before becoming independent in 2006 following a plebiscite.

Montenegro's Budva Riviera is a stretch of coastline of the Adriatic Sea which has emerged as a serious rival to the storied Dalmatian Coast in neighboring Croatia.  The Budva Riviera stretches for miles/on either side of the town of Budva, which you'll see in this excellent drone video by Nikola Zindovic.  One of the oldest continuously settled towns of the eastern Adriatic, Budva is particularly well known for its Venetian achitecture, a legacy of the centuries during which it served as an important outpost of the Venetian Empire.
