Top contributor Majestic has mastered the art of the dronelapse - ie, timelapse sequences captured via drone.  In this video, he put together a stunning dronelapse collage of three of the Hawaiian islands.   On the island of Oahu, he picks up some stunning sequences from Honolulu as well as from its North Shore.  From Maui, you'll see some beautiful footage from Kaanapali, on the island's western coast.  Finally, from Kauai, the video features some epic sequences from its famed Napali Coast. This video won DVOW in June 2019.

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner semberadventure brings us this outstanding video from the Hawaiian island of Maui.  With drone footage supplemented by ground camera shots (some of which were actually taken from a helicopter), most of the footage was filmed on the northwestern side of the island, which is dominated by the West Maui Volcano (Mauna Kahālāwai).  High lights include some epic shots of whales (Maui being considered the best Hawaiian island for whale-watching) and stunning mountain ridges.

New AirVūz contributor and drone pilot johnzi323 used his DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone  to create this stunning aerial reel of Hawaii's Big Island.  The Big Island, which is officially named the Island of Hawai'i is the largest of the islands in the Hawaiian archipelago. The easternmost of the four main islands, the Big Island is home to vast landscapes which include colored beaches, active volcanoes, scenic waterfalls, and lush rainforests.  This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in December 2020.  

Be prepared to be amazed by this stunning aerial view of a giant swell off the North Shore in Oahu, Hawaii.  Top AirVūz contributor and drone pilot filmed this aerial video in mid-January when the biggest swell in years hit the state's north-facing shores.  Wave heights reached a whopping forty-five feet, with some sixty-foot sets coming through on Oahu’s North Shore. Typically from November to February, North Shore waves average heights of sixteen feet.  This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in February 2021. 

In this video, award-winning content creator and drone pilot Haussmannvisuals treats us to bird's eye views of three of the main islands of Hawaii: Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii (commonly referred to as the Big Island).  He captured the footage using two drones: a DJI Phantom 4 Professional and a Mavic Pro.  He encountered some unusually strong winds during his time there, which makes the resulting video all the more impressive.  Feast your eyes on these marvelous bird's eye views of America's 50th state!

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot LUK☰☰ earned a Drone Video of the Week Finalist spot in November of 2023 with this excellent aerial video of Hawaii's Mokulua Islands.  The two islets are located less than a mile/km off of the northern coast of Oahu, towards its eastern end and about a dozen mi. (around 20 km) northeast of central Honolulu.  The bigger island and its smaller neighbor are known in Hawaiian as Moku Nui and Moku Iki, respectively.  The video was filmed at sunrise with a DJI Air 3 drone.  

Award-winning contributor and drone pilot Majestic created this spectacular aerial video of Maui, the second-largest of the eight major islands which make up the USA state of Hawaii.  Much less populated than Oahu, many believe that Maui represents the "true Hawaiian experience".  In this video, you will be treated to bird's eye views of Hokulea, Iao Valley and Iao Needle, Molokini Crater, Hana and its Waterfalls, Black Rock Beach, Nakalele Blowhole, Mushroom Shaped Rock, Rainbows, and more. 

In this DVOM Finalist video, you'll get an aerial glimpse into the wild beauty of the northernmost Hawaiian island of Kauai.  A popular location for filming movies and TV shows, Kauai is often referred to as the "Garden Island" due to its ancient rainforests that have grown thick with tropical plants and trees throughout time.  In this piece from contributor and pilot tomnoske, you'll get a sense of Kauai's remoteness in contrast with the Aloha State's more well known and densely populated islands of Oahu and Maui.

Oahu is by far the largest of the Hawaiian Islands in population, and is also the location of the state's only major city, Honolulu.  While the island has become largely urbanized, contributor Hungaro shows us some of the less-populated parts of this Pacific Ocean island, which covers a land area of about 1.5k square km or around 600 square mi.  The video will serve to reminding you of how Hawaii came to get such a hold on the imagination of travelers from across the mainland United States and indeed from around the world.  

The eight islands comprising the American state of Hawaii offer a broad range of geography that includes volcanoes, mountains, beaches, waterfalls, and lush green landscapes, and each has its own unique lure to locals and guests.  Top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot TheDroneTrip put together this marvelous 4K piece from the Aloha State, featuring two of the islands: Kaua'i, known as the Garden Island, and the appropriately named Big Island, known for its Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Hawaii's Big Island is appropriately named - the easternmost island of the archipelago, which bears the name of the USA's 50th state, covers over 10k square km (around 4k square mi.), roughly twice the land area of the rest of the islands, combined.  That means more beaches, rainforests, waterfalls, surfing, and everything else the Hawaiian islands have to offer.  Top content creator and drone pilot Th3venture and his companion spent a week on this volcanic island with a DJI Phantom 4 and a GoPro, producing one BIG travel video.  

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Ryzone brings us this phenomenal drone video from Hawaii's Mokulua Islands.  The two islets are located about a kilometer (.75 mi.) offshore of Kailua, on the northeastern coast of Oahu.  With surf breaks on either side, the islands are popular spots for surfing, as you'll see in the video.  Seen from the mainland, the larger island (Moku Nui) is on the left, while the smaller (Moku Iki) is on the right.  Both islands are part of the Hawaii State Seabird Sanctuary.  

Kauai is the westernmost of the main islands of the Hawaiian archipelago.  It has been developed more recently than Oahu and Maui, and its pristine scenery has made it a favored location for filming feature-length movies.  Hiking along the Kalalau Trail along the Na Pali Coast, the name for Kaui's northwestern coastline, top contributor and drone pilot brianeastMedia treats us to a spectacular aerial view of this marvelous island, which is geologically the oldest of major islands in the Hawaiian archipelago.

In the Hawaiian religion, Pele is the goddess of fire, volcanoes, and the creator of the Hawaiian Islands themselves. In this piece, top contributor haussmannvisuals captures the essence of Pele via the erupting Kilauea Volcano off the Big Island with his DJI Phantom 4 Pro and DJI Mavic Pro.  Like a true professional, he waited three years for this moment and made sure to fly in a legal fly zone.  His hard work paid off in this spectacular video, which was nominated for the Drone Video of the Week in late 2018.

The Ko'olau Mountains sit on the eastern side of Oahu, the most populous island of USA state of Hawaii and the home of Honolulu, the state's principal city.  The highest peak in the mountains is about 1k meters (about 3k ft) above sea level, a figure more impressive when considering the very short distance from the peak to the Pacific shore.  Contributor and pilot Hungaro used a drone to create this stunning aerial video of these spectacular mountains and the Pacific Coast against which they are set.  

Take in these gorgeous aerial views of the Big Island of Hawaii, compliments of AirVuz contributor and drone pilot SolidCaptures.  The video opens with a shot of the Waipi'o Valley, a spectacular area on the island's northeastern coast.  At the 1:10 mark, you'll see the nearby Waiulili Falls, which empties directly into the ocean.  Other highlights in the video include the area around South Point (Ka Lae), the southernmost tip of the island (and also the southernmost spot in the USA) and some breathtaking whale watching shots.   

Top contributor and pilot Jonasgutzat is known for highly creative drone videos, both of his home state of Hawaii and other spots around the world to which he travels.  He is also quite skilled at advanced post-production editing techniques.  In this video, he combines spectacular drone footage of Hawaii with some amazing dronelapse (hyperlapse using drone footage) editing, creating a stunning visual feast of the Aloha State.  Viewer beware: his love of this magical Pacific Ocean island paradise is contagious.  

Following the arc of the Hawaiian islands eastwards, Maui is the next to last island, before the island of Hawaii (also known as the Big Island).  Sometimes called the Valley Isle, Maui was the second Hawaiian island to develop a large tourism trade, following the lead of Oahu.  This stunning drone video from top contributor and pilot iDrone Aerials will show you why this island paradise in the Aloha State has became such a hit with travelers (and more recently, drone pilots) from around the world. 

Top contributor th3venture created this truly memorable video from a trip to Hawaii where he was engaged to his beloved.  The proposal took place atop a hill on the Na Pali Coast, a wilderness area in the northwestern part of the island.  You can see the moment where he pops the question at around the 2:00 mark in the video.  It's hard to imagine a more beautiful place for anything let alone committing to a lifetime together; not surprisingly, she said "yes"! This video was a DVOW nominee in April 2019.

Contributor Reuben Landon put together this beautiful drone video from the island of Hawaii, the largest and southeasternmost of the Pacific archipelago that is the USA's 50th state.  The locations featured include the following: Akaka Falls, which lies within a state park on the island's northern side; the "Warm Ponds" (sometimes called "Hot Ponds") on the eastern side; the off-grid Cocowasi retreat; Rainbow Falls in Hilo; Pahoa, at the island's eastern tip; and Kona on the western side.

Kahakuloa Head is a promontory which is situated in a relatively remote spot on the western side of the island of Maui in the Hawaiian Islands.  The road which runs through the area is extremely narrow, scaring off many would be visitors.  While these fears may be justified, contributor and drone pilot iDrone Hawaii makes a compelling visual case for taking the risk with this spectacular bird's eye view of this Pacific Ocean paradise, the second most populous island in America's 50th state.  

Lanai is the sixth-largest of the islands which make up the archipelago and US state of Hawaii.  It's situated just south of Moloka'i and west of Maui.  The location of the island creates strong winds and treacherous Pacific Ocean currents which have caused many shipwrecks over the years.  In this video, contributor and pilot iDrone Hawaii uses a DJI Phantom 4 drone to fly over a wreck off of Lanai's Shipwreck Beach, so called because of the number of wrecks which inhabit the sea bottom off the island's shores.

Top content creator and drone pilot contributor Majestic created this stunning aerial tour of the Hawaiian island of Oahu.  Using a DJI Phantom 4 drone, he was able to capture some of the most epic sights of this, the most populous of the Hawaiian Islands.  Prepare to be amazed by the bird's eye views of some of Oahu's most well known sights, including he North Shore, Lanikai Beach, Kailua, front and back side of Moku Nui Island, Sandy Beach, Halona Cove, Rabbit Island, and Makapu'u Beach and Lookout. 

Gab707 is one of the top first person view (FPV) pilots on earth.  He's participated in multiple seasons of the Drone Racing League, and his long-range FPV mountain surfing videos from the Swiss Alps are the stuff of FPV legend.  In this video, he tackles one of the world's most famous canyons: Waimea Canyon in Hawaii, sometimes known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.  Situated on the western side of the island of Kauai, the stunningly beautiful canyon has a maximum depth of about 900 meters, or around 3k ft. 

Of Hawaii's many waterfalls, there are just a couple which consistently land amongst the top 15-20 falls in the world.  One of these is Akaka Falls, situated in a state park of the same name on Hawaii's "Big Island," about midway down its northeastern coastline.  Defined as a plunge-type waterfall, it drops the water of a waterway known as the Kolekole stream about 135 meters (just over 440 ft.) into a deep gorge. Without doubt, one of the finest hotel properties in Hawaii is the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.  It is situated in the historic town of Kaupulehu, on the Kohala (northwestern) coast of the island of Hawaii, aka the "Big Island".  Opened in 1996, it's the only five-star (per AAA) resort on the island, and one of only four in the state of Hawaii.  Top contributor iDrone Aerials collaborated with the property's owner to create this magnficent aerial/ground tour of the resort and the surrounding area.  

Contributor and drone pilot Tushevs Aerials brings us this stunning aerial tour of Kauai, the so-called "Garden Island" of Hawaii. Much less populated than Oahu or even Mauai, the westernmost of the major islands of the Hawaiian archipelago has become a go-to spot for movie  and TV makers around the world. Feature films shot here include some of the Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean series, among many others. Perhaps the most well known movie identified with Kauai is the 1981 blockbuster Raiders of the Lost Ark.   

Christian Tinman, who hails from South Africa, has developed a reputation for being amongst the top aerial videographers of surfing around the world.  He has traveled to many of the world's top surfing beaches, using a drone to create bird's eye views of some of the best surfers on earth.  In this video, he captures the winter surfing scene on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii.  Home of the famous back door and pipeline reef breaks, this is widely considered to be the world's top surfing location.  

The Polynesian people who initially populated Hawaii were some of the earth's first seagoing peoples, and the key to maritime success was having the right type of boat.  In this case, it was a boat style called a Va'a, which is an outrigger type canoe that has proven its seaworthiness over the centuries.  Contributor and pilot Tahiti Fly Shoot flew over the 2017 Hawaiki Nui Va'a race and created this spectacular drone video of the event, which is the largest such outrigger canoe event in the world.    

Top AirVuz contributor LUK☰☰ used a DJI FPV drone as well as the DJI Air 3 to create this beautiful aerial view of Kualoa Ranch on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.  A private range on the island's eastern coast, the area has a more well known name: Jurassic Park.  That's because it was one of the main filming locations for Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster movie of the same name.  Jurassic Park was also used as a filming location for Kong: Skull Island (2017), Pearl Harbor (2001), and other movies, plus numerous TV shows.  

Top contributor Majestic created this absolutely stunning drone video of Kauai, one of the principal islands of the state of Hawaii.  The westernmost of Hawaii's four main islands, Kauai was the last to develop as a tourist destination.  Called the Garden Island, Kauai is known as much as anything for being a prime movie filming location.  In the video, you will be treated to dramatic aerials and dronelapse shots of Napali Coast, Waimea Valley, Princeville, Kilauea Lighthouse, Poipu Beach, and more.

Just as Maui offers some of Hawaii's best surfing spots, so it goes with windsurfing.  Contributor and pilot Aerialvideomaui created this epic drone video of some of the world's best windsurfers plying the windy waters of Maui, the second-largest of the Hawaiian islands.  The footage was captured at a couple of legendary Maui Spots: Pe'ahi (aka the JAWS surf break) and Ho'okipa.  Both of these spots are considered some of the finest (and most challenging) windsurfing areas in the world.  

Explore Hawaii's legendary Waikiki Beach in this excellent drone video by top AirVuz contributor David L.  Even as Hawaii's "other" islands have become increasingly popular, Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu continues to be seen as one of the world's most iconic beaches.  Considered the birthplace of modern surfing, Waikiki Beach is located roughly halfway between downtown Honolulu and Diamond Head to its southeast, on the southern shore of Hawaii's most populous island.  Roughly half of Waikiki's shoreline is reserved for surfing.  

Check out this beautiful aerial video of one of the best-known waterfalls in Hawaii, compliments of AirVuz contributor and drone pilot pnoymavic30.  It's located near Lihue on the eastern end of the island of Kauai, the "Garden Island" of the Hawaiian archipelago.  The plunge-type waterfall has a total height of 26 meters (84 ft.) through two drops.  The falls, which feeds into Wailua River, appeared in the opening credits of one of the top-rated television series of the 1980's: Fantasy Island.

Amongst the many resorts and hotels in Hawaii, the Ritz-Carlton on Maui is considered one of the 2-3 best.  It's located on the northwestern shore of the island.  The hotel is part of a resort complex called Kapalua, which was built on an area of pineapple fields.   In addition to some of Hawaii's finest beaches, the Kapalua site includes Puʻu Kukui, a peak which is part of the West Maui Mountains.  You can check out this five star property from above in this drone video by contributor @joeynagrath.  

To make ever more compelling travel videos, experienced drone pilots are increasingly using a combination of "traditional" gimbal-stabilized drones and first person view (FPV) quads to explore their destinations.  Case in point is this marvelous video by AirVuz contributor dylan.drones.  The video was shot on Maui, the second-most populous but in the judgment of many the most beautiful of the islands of the Hawaiian archipelago.  The video was created with footage from a DJI Mini 3 as well as a custom-built FPV drone.   

Contributor iDrone Hawaii created this beautiful drone video of a spot on Maui, the second-largest of the  Hawaiian Islands.  The video was filmed in the harbor of Lahaina, which is located on the western shore of the island.  Lahaina has a rich history, having served as the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii from 1820-45.  Today, it's considered a prime destination in its own right as well as a gateway to the interior of the island.  It doesn't come cheap, though: Lahaina is also home to some of the most expensive real estate in the entire Hawaiian archipelago.  

While it's definitely not for beginners, Hawaii's Slaughterhouse Beach is considered one of the world's finest surfing spots.  Also called Mokule'ia, it lies on the northwestern shore of the island of Maui.  Its name derives from its proximity to a cattle ranch and slaughterhouse, long-since closed.  The beach sees particularly strong surf conditions in the winter months, when waves break about 65-70 meters (around 200 ft.) from shore; during these months, the beach sees dangerous riptides.

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist LUK☰☰ created this beautiful "sunrise to sunset" drone video from the Hawaiian island of Kauai.  The sunrise portion of the video was filmed over Princeville, an unincorporated area on the northern shore of the island.  For the sunset shot, the setting is just a bit to the west, on Hanalei Bay, approximately in the middle of the northern coast.  The video was filmed with the DJI Air 3, the latest edition to the Air line, which was released in the Fall of 2023.  

The island of Hawaii is formed from five separate volcanoes that erupted out of the Pacific Ocean floor; in the native Hawaiian version of history, this occurred with the help of Pele, the goddess of fire.  The largest of these is Mt. Kilauea, which is an infant in geological terms - less than 300k years old.  While not particularly high (its peak altitude is about 1.25k meters or around 4.1k ft.), it is extremely active.  For evidence of the last point, check out this drone video of the volcano in the area of Pahoa by Reuben Langdon.

Shot with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, this aerial hyperlapse video of Hawaii by sd-droner will take you over the middle islands of the USA's state of Hawaii.  The three islands featured in the video are (1) Molokai, the "Friendly Isle", which is the fifth largest of the group by land area; (2) Maui, which lies to the southeast of Molokai and is the second-largest Hawaiian island by land area; and (3) Oahu, which lies on the opposite (northwestern) side of Molokai and is the third-largest island by land area but by far the most populous.  

Check out these dramatic drone views of Hawaii's Jurassic Park, compliments of AirVuz contributor angelo_q.  Technically known as Kualoa Ranch, this 4k acre (about 1.5k ha) private nature reserve is located on the eastern side of the island of Oahu.  Used as a filming location for dozens of movies, its nickname refers to its most famous movie appearance in the 1993 Steven Spielberg sci-fi blockbuster.  It was also used as a filming location for some of the most popular TV shows set in Hawaii, including Hawaii Five-Oh and Magnum PI.

The "Big Island" of Hawaii was formed via five separate volcanoes, of which two (Mauna Loa and Kilauea) remain active.  Kīlauea, on the southeastern part of the island, is the more active.   Less than 300k years old, the shield volcano erupted more or less continuously from 1983 to 2018, explosively so in mid-2018.  In this stunning drone video by Hawaii Aerial Visions, you'll get an aerial view of the crack known as Fissure 8, which was the source of some of the most destructive lava emissions during the 2018 eruptions.

In this 4k drone video by FreD...//..., you'll get an aerial view of one of the smallest islands of the Hawaiian archipelago.  It's called Alau island, and it's a tiny islet just off the eastern shore of Maui.  Barely visible on a map, the uninhabited island lies just a few hundred meters/yards off of Koki Beach.  Koki Beach in turn is just a km/mi or so north of Hamoa Beach, generally considered the most beautiful beach on the eastern side of Maui, which is the most remote part of the second-largest of the Hawaiian islands.    

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Dave MG brings us this excellent drone video from Hawaii, the Pacific Ocean archipelago which is the USA's 50th state.  The video was shot on the islands of Oahu, Kauai, and Maui.  Specific featured locations include the Banzai Pipeline and other spots along the North Shore of Oahu; Oahu's Waimea Canyon and the Mermaid Caves; Kauai's Hanalei Bay; Diamond Head and Koko Head on Hawaii; Kauai's Na Pali Coast; and Oahu's Makap'u Lighthouse.  

Kauai is part of the Hawaiian archipelago. Nicknamed “the Garden Isle” because of its tropical rainforest that covers much of its surface, the dramatic cliffs of its Na Pali Coast have served as movie backdrops for dozens of Hollywood films. The 10-mile Waimea Canyon and Nounou Trails are hiking destinations, while the miles of pristine beaches speak for themselves. The folks at Autel Robotics took the EVO drone out for a spin through the exotic island, capturing all the beauty it has to offer in this 4K, aerial film. 

The Hawaiian island of Maui is one of the USA's top beach destinations.  It's perhaps not surprising then that this bit of tropical paradise has also captured the attention of first person view (FPV) pilots as a travel destination.  Witness this fanastic FPV piece by top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Ewalt_FPV.  Opening with a great shot skimming along the coast, the video ends with a shot of the house where he's staying.  This video was selected for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in July of 2020.  

Kiteboarding is a challenging actions sport that requires considerable strength and balance.  Similarly, it's incredibly difficult to safely film kiteboarders by drone.   With speeds that can easily exceed 60 km/hr (over 40 mph), keeping the kite and kiteboarders in frame requires a great deal of skill on the part of the drone operator.  All reasons to appreciate this excellent drone video  by former Drone Video of the Week Winner Seven Roads Media, who filmed some kiteboarders cruising the coast of Hawaii's island of Oahu.     

AirVuz contributor mozaerial used a DJI Mini 3 drone to create this excellent drone video from fabled Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.  Even as Hawaii's "other" islands have become increasingly popular, Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu continues to be seen as one of the world's most iconic beaches.  Considered the birthplace of modern surfing, Waikiki Beach is located roughly halfway between downtown Honolulu and Diamond Head to its southeast, on the southern shore of Hawaii's most populous island.  

Check out the amazing drone shots from Hawaii in this amazing video by AirVuz contributor and pilot eugenejay22.  The video was filmed on Oahu, the most populous island of the Aloha State.  The video features footage from all over the island, including spots like Chinaman's Hat on the north shore and the Makapu Lighthouse on is southeastern coast.  Probably the highlights though are from in and around Honolulu, including its downtown and some epic shots of the adjacent Waikiki Beach area.  

This video of Hawaii by contributor johnapurdy fulfills the promise of its title: Majestic.  It opens with a beautiful shot of the famously torquoise waters of the Aloha State.  From there you will see some of the volcanic mountains, verdant valleys, and gushing waterfalls of this bit of paradise in the Central Pacific Ocean.  The highlight of the video is at the :55 mark; there is a slo-mo sequence of a wave crashing over some giant rocks that are lined up in a semi-circle transaction.
