MOKULE'IA (Slaughterhouse) BEACH MAUI

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : While it's definitely not for beginners, Hawaii's Slaughterhouse Beach is considered one of the world's finest surfing spots. Also called Mokule'ia, it lies on the northwestern shore of the island of Maui. Its name derives from its proximity to a cattle ranch and slaughterhouse, long-since closed. The beach sees particularly strong surf conditions in the winter months, when waves break about 65-70 meters (around 200 ft.) from shore; during these months, the beach sees dangerous riptides.
