The island nation of Malta lies close to the center of the Mediterranean Sea, between the Italian island of Sicily and the coast of North Africa.  Top content creator Oliverastrologo created this stunning aerial tour of this beautiful spot, which includes epic shots of the harbor at Valletta, the ancient walled city of Mdina, and at the :40 mark the Azure Window rock formation (which subsequently collapsed); all were used extensively as filming locations in Season 1 of HBO's Game of Thrones. 

Talented contributor yoshi1989 earned his first DVOW Finalist spot with this excellent drone video from the Mediterranean island nation of Malta.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2, the video features footage from Dingli Cliffs, on the northern side of the main island; the Blue Grotto, on the southeastern coast; the seaside town of Marsaskala; the ancient city of Mdina; Bugibba, on St. Paul's Bay; the capital city of Valletta; Manikata, on the northwestern side of the island; Xlendi Tower, on the smaller island of Gozo; and more.  

Former DVOW Finalist twindesigner used a DJI Mavic 3 Classic to create this stunning aerial tour of the Mediterranean island nation of Malta.  The video opens with some beautiful overhead shots of the Malta coastline, and at the :45 mark you'll see one of the medieval era watchtowers which once protected Malta from invasion.  At the 2:00 mark, you'll see the town of Victoria, the main city on Malta's "second island" of Gozo.  Other highlights include the Rotunda of Xewkija on Gozo (3:10), the Grand Harbor of Valletta (3:43), and more.  

The Mediterranean island nation of Malta saw its first Covid-19 coronavirus case confirmed on March 7, 2020, and within about a week the country had undertaken (more or less) the same measures as the rest of Europe to combat the worldwide epidemic.  In this excellent drone video by top contributor Ericbartolo, you'll see what this looks like from an aerial point of view.  Normally bustling streets and public squares of the country's two main islands are eerily silent and empty, with all nonessential businesses closed.  

Award-winning content creator and drone pilot johannesboechl created this marvelous video record of a trip to the Mediterranean island nation of Malta. The first part of the video was filmed on the island of Gozo, Malta's second-largest island which lies just northwest of the main island. The video has some great shots of the Fortress of Cittadella (the capital of Gozo) as well as the Ramla Bay Beach and the Fungus Rock. You'll also see a bit of Comino, the tiny island which lies between Malta and Gozo. This video won DVOW in December 2019.

Valletta is the historic and stunning capital of the island of Malta. The city, built by the Knights of St. John, was once given the nickname “Superbissima” – Italian for “Most Proud.” It also served as a prime filming location for many King's Landing scenes in Season 1 on Game of Thrones. Using a DJI Mavic Pro, drone pilot rikk08 shot the stunning aerial views of this historic city. Fittingly, this video is a Finalist in the Game of Drones category for the second annual Drone Video Awards.

For centuries, the capital city of the Mediterranean island of Malta was not the port city of Valletta but rather the inland city of Mdina.  In the years before the Knights of St. John took control of the island and moved the capital in 1530, island's principal urban center was Mdina.  Located adjacent to Rabat, the original walled city of Mdina lost most of its population in the ensuing centuries, earning the nickname The Silent City.  Check it out from above in this drone video by contributor terencem.

Top content creator and drone pilot Boyanoo put his DJI MAvic Pro 2 to good use in creating this stunning video of the Mediterranean island nation of Malta.  The video combines aerial and ground footage to create an excellent visual overview of this idyllic spot in the middle of the inland sea, which has been an independent country since 1974.  The video features footage from across the main island, as well as the second island of Gozo to its north and the tiny island of Camino which sits in between.  

AirVuz contributor Travel and Drones combined drone and ground camera footage with some very clever "3D" type editing to create this magnificent video of the Mediterranean island of Malta.  The video opens with shots of Fort St. Elmo and other shots around the capital city of Valletta.  Then it's on to the red St. Agatha's Tower in northern Malta, followed by Lippija Tower on the west coast, Għajn Żnuber Tower and the Dingli Cliffs on the northern coast, the walled city of Mdina in the island's interior, Popeye Village, and more.

Check out this fantastic drone video of the island of Gozo in Malta, compliments of contributor Nathan Jermy.  Gozo is the "second island" of the archipelago; it's about a fifth as large as the main island in terms of land area and far less populated.  The video includes epic aerial shots of three of Gozo's top sights: (1) the Giordan Lighthouse, visible from up to 30 km (20 mi.) away; (2) the Ta' Pinu Basilica, recipient of Papal visits in 1990 and 2010;  and (3) the  Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul in Nadur.  

Malta's Grand Harbor is one of the finest natural harbors in the Mediterranean Sea.  The island nation's capital city of Valetta occupies the northern side of the harbor, while its southern side is dominated by the Three Cities of Birgu, Senglea and Cospicua.  The last two of these were founded by the Order of St. John in the 16th and 17h centuries, while the first is substantially older.  In this beautiful drone video by TravelPenguin, you can get a bird's eye view of all three of these cultural treasures.

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Frame Hunters Media brings us this excellent drone video from the Mediterranean island nation of Malta.  The video features footage of the following Malta locations: (1) the famous Blue Lagoon on Camino, a tiny island which is situated between the islands of Malta and Gozo; (2) St. Peter's Pool, a natural pool on the southeastern coast of the main island; and (3) St. Julian's beach, which is located on a bay of the same name just north of the capital city of Valletta.  

Contributor and drone pilot Degmat created this spectacular aerial tour of the Mediterranean paradise of Malta, which is made up a group of islands in the central part of the Mediterranean Sea.  Using a DJI Phantom 4 drone, he was able to capture this astounding aerial footage of the so called "three cities": Citta Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea.  These fortified cities lie south of Grand Harbor on the southeastern part of the island and were used in filming Season 1 of the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Top contributor and drone pilot Uncle Dam had occasion to visit the Mediterranean island nation of Malta at the height of the spring season.  While there, he was able to create this spectacular aerial tour of the main island as well as the surrounding islands Gozo and Comino.  Malta was a primary filming location for much of Season 1 of HBO's Game of Thrones; the initial King's Landing location was the ancient walled city of Mdina in the center of the main island, which you'll see at the :50 mark.   

This excellent 60 second drone video of Malta by maltawalks opens with some great shots of the Three Cities on the south side of the Grand Harbor, opposite Valetta.  Here's you'll see the city of Seglea, Fort St. Elmo at the tip of Birgu, and Senglea Point.  Then you'll head north to the Blue Lagoon, which lies just off the tiny island of Camino between the main islands of Malta and Gozo.  The last part of the video will take you to Valetta and includes some great shots of the Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, its famous church. 

Contributor Jone_83 gives us an amazing bird's eye look at Malta's famed Blue Lagoon in this epic drone video.  The lagoon sits between the small island of Comino and the even smaller island of Cominoto.  These islands sit between the main island of Malta and Gozo, the country's second island.  Here you will get a glimpse of the sailboats and yachts of Europe's superrich floating in these crystal blue waters.  These waters "stood in" for ancient Troy in the 2004 blockbuster of the same name, starring Brad Pitt. 

In this drone video by contributor and pilot Constntinos DNP, you'll get some great aerial view of the eastern side of the main island of Malta, the Mediterranean island nation.  The video features footage of the following locations: the capital city Valletta, which lies on a peninsula which forms the north side of the Grand Harbor and the south side of the Marsamxett Harbor; Sliema, a resort town north of the Marsamxett Harbour; and Kalkara, another resort town, which is south of the Grand Harbor.  

Contributor and pilot Duncan DroneNuts put the Mavic Pro 2 to good use creating this stunning drone video of Malta, the Mediterranean island nation.  The video includes footage of some of the less well known spots on the main island, including Ahrax Mellieha, the so called "Secret Caves" at the northern tip of the island; St. Paul's Bay, the port on the northern side of the island; the village of Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, on the island's northeastern coastline; and Ġnejna Bay on the island's western coast.  

AirVuz contributor photoexpert.eu brings us this excellent drone video of Sliema, a port resort town on the Mediteranean island of Malta.  Sliema is situated just north of the Grand Harbor on the eastern side of the island, not far from the capital, Valletta.  With about 20k permanent residents, it's considered one of the more affluent Maltese towns.  It's part of the Northern Harbor District, a region of the island which covers the area north and west of the Grand Harbor.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mini 3 Pro.  

Top contributor and pilot Boyanoo created this beautiful drone video of Golden Bay on the Mediterranean island nation of Malta.  The bay is located on the northwestern shore of the main island, near the town of Mellieħa.  It's one of three adjacent bays which together are known as Għajn Tuffieħa.  Golden Bay is the northernmost of the three and the most popular, although Ġnejna Bay (the southernmost of the three bays) is actually the largest of the three bays, with Għajn Tuffieħa Bay in the middle.  

Soar over the historic city of Valletta on the Mediterranean island of Malta in this outstanding drone video by Fpv_travel_girl.  The video opens with a great shot looking southwest over Marsamxett Harbour towards St. Paul's Cathedral and beyond that to the Grand Harbor. Then it's on to the star-shaped Fortress of St. Elmo, which guards the entrance to both the harbors, followed by Triton Fountain, just outside the City Gate.  The video concludes with a shot looking northwest from St. Paul's towards Tigné Point in neighboring Sliema.  

The northwestern coast of the Mediterranean island of Malta consists of a series of bays: north to south, Golden Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, and Ġnejna Bay.  Near the town of Għajn Tuffieħa, the bays constitute part of the country's Northern Region.  With the only true beach areas and lifeguards on duty during the summer months, Golden Bay is the most well known of the three bays.  Check out this beautiful bit of Mediterranean coastline in above in this drone video by new AirVuz contributor jbpix_

By virtue of its position in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea's busy sea lanes, Malta has always seen more than its share of shipwrecks.  While most of the wrecks surrounding Malta and its subsidiary islands are old, some are quite new.  In this video, top content creator and drone pilot Chris Borg used his DJI Mavic Pro drone to create a short clip of one of these recent wrecks: the Togo-flagged Hephaestus.  This vessel ran aground during a storm at Qawra Point on February 10th, 2018; it's not been recovered.

Top contributor Eminocks created this beautiful drone video from Malta, which alternates between two iconic spots on this important Mediterranean island.  The first spot is the area around Valetta, which sits on a peninsula that forms the north side of the Grand Harbor.  The second spot is the area around Ħamrija Tower, a watchtower on the southwestern part of the island.  The video includes footage of a rock arch below the tower, which may remind viewers of the now-collapsed Azure Window on Gozo.  

Terencam gives us a great bird's eye view of Birgu, also known as Citta Vittoriosa, a small village  situated on the south side of Malta's Grand Harbor.  The village, once heavily fortified, occupies an important strategic point on the southeastern part of this Mediterranean island, just across the harbor from Valletta. It was the sight of an important battle between the order of the Knights of St. John and the Ottoman Empire; it also stood in as the fictional Red Keep Dungeon in Season 1 of the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Deggimatt used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create this stunning aerial video of Gnejna, a small village on the western shore of the main island of Malta.  It sits in the northern part of the coastline, across the island from St. Paul's Bay.  It's a beautiful beach area surrounded by cliffs, atop one of which is Lippia Tower, a defensive fortification built in the 17th century to protect the (then) capital city Mdina, located in the island's interior and histroically vulnerable to a seaborne invasion. 

Comino is the (by far) smallest of the three islands of the Maltese Archipelago in the central Mediterranean.  Once called Ephaestia, it's situated between the much larger islands of Gozo (to its north) and Malta (to its south).  Covering only about 3.5 square km. (about 1.4 square mi.), it has fewer than ten permanent residents as of 2020.  In this drone video by new contributor maltawalks, you'll get a bird's eye view of this tiny island, including its two most well known sites: the Blue Lagoon and St. Mary's Tower.  

One of the most spectacular sights on the northern Malta island of Gozo is the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu.  The basilica and adjacent shrine is situated on a hill overlooking the town of Gharb, on the northwestern coast of Malta's second (northern) main island.  Considered one of Malta's great cultural treasurers, the basiica was the site of a mass celebration by Pope John Paul II in 1990.  The church was consecrated in 1932 on the site of an earlier structure.  

The long-deserted White Rocks Resort on the Mediterranean island of Malta is an urban explorer's paradise as seen here in contributor rikk08's aerial footage.  The complex has been sitting, untended and slowly decaying, for two decades on the coast of Pembroke.  Instead of gathering tourists for its initial intended purpose, it has drawn in street artists and vandals over the years — becoming an eerie graffiti gallery for URBEX enthusiasts.  Check it out from above in this drone video by contributor Rikk08.

Contributor oben360 was one of the last drone pilots to fly through the now-mythical Azure Window, a rock formation off the coast of the island of Gozo, the second island of Malta.  The window collapsed in 2017, disappearing forever.  Prior to its collapse, it was burned into the world's cultural consciousness by appearing first in the 2010 blockbuster Clash of the Titans and then in HBO's Game of Thrones series; in the latter, the arch was where Daenerys married Khal Drogo in the series' pilot episode.

Check out this stunning drone video of one of the top sights of Malta, the island nation in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.  The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Bażilika Santwarju tal-Madonna tal-Karmnu) was built on the site which had been occupied by a major church since the 16th century.  The current church was completed in 1981.  Its dome stands 42 meters (about 130 ft.) above the city of Valletta, the Maltese capital which sits on its eastern coastline on the country's main (and namesake) island.  

Top contributor siemo created this stunning drone video of the island of Gozo, the northernmost of the two main islands which make up the Mediterranean nation of Malta.  The video opens with some beautiful footage of Masalforn, a seaport town on the northern shore of the island.  Then the action shifts to Victoria (also known as Rabat), Gozo's largest city, which lies near the middle of the island and is famous for its hilltop citadel.  Finally, you'll get some bird's eye views of the epic cliffs which surround the island.  

Lestilestudios created this drone video of Fort St. Angelo on the Mediterranean island of Malta.  It is situated in the Grand Harbor, in the city of Birgu (Città Vittoriosa).  Built by the Knights of St. John, the fortress was the focal point of the Great Siege of Malta in 1565.  Here, the fort's defenders held off an amphibious invasion by the Ottoman Empire, marking the end of the Ottoman bid for control of the Mediterranean.  About 450 years later, it was a filming location for the Red Keep seen in Season 1 of Game of Thrones.  

One of the mysteries of the history of early Christianity was the location of the shipwreck of Paul the Apostle, aka St. Paul.  According to the Bible, he was shipwrecked on an island called "Melita" on his way to Rome to stand trial following his arrest during his last trip to Jerusalem.  The purported (but not historically proven) spot where the shipwreck occurred is now called St. Paul's Bay, on the northeastern coast of the island of Malta.  Check it out from above in this drone video by zzlat.  

Check out this drone video of a well-known landmark on the Mediterranean island of Malta, compliments of contributor and pilot Max Altitude.  It's called the Għajn Tuffieħa Tower, and it's in the town of Mġarr on the northwestern coast of the island.  The landmark is part of the Lascaris Towers, a group of defensive watchtowers built along the coast of Malta (including the smaller sister island of Gozo) by the Order of St. John in the 17th century.  This particular tower overlooks the Għajn Tuffieħa Bay.  

Content creator and pilot Travel Penguin created this beautiful drone video of the Rotunda of Mosta, one of the most famous churches on the Mediterranean island of Malta.  The church is located in a town of the same name in the north-central part of the island.  Built on the site of an earlier structure, the neoclassical design is based on the Pantheon in Rome.  Once one of the world's largest domes, it was nearly destroyed in World War II, when a German bomb crashed through the dome during Mass but failed to detonate.  

One of the top attractions in the northern part of the Mediteranean island of Malta is a 40 year old movie set near the town of Mellieħa.  It's called Popeye Village in honor of the 1979 movie which was filmed here - Robert Altman's adaptation of the Popeye comic strip.  While the movie had mixed box office success, it will be forever known as the first starring movie role for the late Robin Williams, considered one of the greatest actors of his generation.  Check out Popeye Village from above in this drone video by TravelPenguin.  

Check out this drone video of the walled city of Mdina, Malta, compliments of Rich Watson.  Located near the center of the island, Mdina was founded by Muslim setters in the 10th or 11th century.  It was Malta's most important city until the Knights of St. John took control of the island in the 16th century and moved the capital to Birgu, on the Grand Harbor to the southeast.  One of Malta's cultural treasures, Mdina was the filming location for King's Landing in the first season of HBO's Game of Thrones. 

Selmun Palace is an important historical landmark on the northeastern shore of Malta, the Mediterranean island.  The palace was constructed in the early 17th century by an institution which was set up to pay ransom for Christians abducted by Muslim pirates.  It became a sort of Early Modern resort for the Knights of St. John, members of the military-religious order that ruled Malta for centuries and who did plenty of pirating of their own.  Later a hotel, the palace closed in 2010 but is a protected monument under Maltese law.  

In early 2018, a Togo-flagged ship called Hephaustus ran aground at a spot called Qawra Point at the southern entrance to St. Paul's Bay on the Mediterranean island of Malta.  The bay takes its name from a Biblical reference to a shipwreck of St. Paul which may have occurred here.  Almost unbelievably, the wreck occurred on February 10th, the day of the Feast of St. Paul.  Seen here in this drone video by Jasonaerialfilming the wreck of the Haephestus (which resulted in no injuries) has since been removed.  

Of the many sights of the Mediterranean island of Malta, two stand out: the old Muslim city of Mdina on the interior of the island, and the area around Valletta to the southeast.  In this excellent drone video by IngusKriklitis, you'll get some great views of both.  The video opens with a great shot of Valletta, then cuts to Mdina.  Most of the rest of the video is from Greater Valletta, including the Grand Harbor and the Three Cities to its south, and the boater's paradise Marsamxxett Harbor to its north.

Check out this fantastic drone video from the Mediterranean island of Malta, compliments of FreD...///...  The video opens with a shot of Tritons' Fountain, located just outside of the City Gate of Valetta.  Starting at about the :50 mark, there's a great shot following the peninsula on which the city of Valetta sits, with Marsamxett Harbour in the background.  Starting at 1:27, there's a great shot of Fort Ricasoli, at the entrance to the Grand Harbor (south of Valetta), and beyond it the Three Cities of  Birgu, Senglea, and Cospicua.  

Check out this stunning drone video of a reef on the southeastern coast of the Mediterranean island of Malta, compliments of contributor and pilot Jasonaerialfilming. It's called Munxar Reef, and it's a mini-peninsula that creates the southern end of St. Thomas Bay, near the town of Marsaskala.  It's believed by some (controversially) that the shipwreck of Saint Paul on his journey to Rome described in the New Testament occurred here and not, as is more commonly believe, in the northern St. Paul's Bay.    

Check out these drone views of Mellieħa Bay on the Mediterranean island of Malta, compliments of AirVuz contributor maltawalks.  The bay is the northernmost of the inlets which line the eastern side of the island.  The video features excellent footage of the bay's most distinguishing landmark: the magnificent Saint Agatha's Tower.  Also known as the Red Tower, the bastioned tower was built in the mid-17th century by the Knights of St. John, who controlled Malta from the middle of the 16th century until the Napoleonic Wars.  

In this drone video by contributor and pilot terencem, you'll be taken over some of the famous watchtowers of the Mediterranean island nation of Malta.  Occupying some of the most fought-over land in the world, these watchtowers were critical in the age before radar to detecting invasion threats.  The star of the video is the tower on the small island of Comino that is situated between the main island of Malta and the second island of Gozo.  The Comino Tower was a filming location for the 2004 blockbuster Troy.  

One of the most vividly detailed passages in the New Testament is the story in the Acts of the Apostles of how St. Paul's ship wrecked on an island on his journey from Caesarea (in present-day Israel) to Rome to face trial.  Most scholars agree that the Biblical reference to "Melita" is in fact the island of Malta.  The most common view is that the wreck occurred on or around what is now called St. Paul's Island on the island's northeastern coast, which you'll see here in this drone video by Jasonaerialfilming.   

Check out this drone video from the Mediterranean island nation of Malta, compliments of brand-new contributor kur noriu, ten kelia.  The video was filmed over and around the town of Xlendi on the southwestern part of Gozo, the country's second-largest island, which is located to the north of the main island of Malta.  At about the :46 mark, there's a nice shot of Xlendi Tower, a 17th century watchtower which guards the southern entrance to the bay and which is one of four surviving watchtowers on the island of Gozo.  

Triton's Fountain is an important landmark in the city of Valletta, the capital of the island nation of Malta.  The fountain opened in 1959, a few years before Malta achieved its independence from the UK.  It's located near the City Gate, which has been reconstructed several times but which dates to the founding of the city by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century.  The fountain was used to film a scene in the apocalyptic blockbuster World War Z starring Brad Pitt, one of the highest-grossing films of 2013.

Top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Duncan DroneNuts put together this beautiful aerial piece from the northern end of the island of Malta.  The video was filmed in a spot called Slug's Bay, which is an inlet of the much larger Mellieha Bay.  Also known as Għadira Bay, Mellieha Bay is the northernmost of the bays and inlets which run up and down the eastern coast of the island.  Slugs Bay is situated on the north side of the larger body of water, which is generally regarded as having the best beaches on this important Mediterranean island.  

The Imtahleb Cliffs on the Mediterranean island of Malta are quite remote; they lie on the western side of the main island, roughly opposite Valetta on the eastern side.  The magnificent scenery here was picked as a filming location for HBO's Game of Thrones in its first season: it was here that Daenerys Targaryen stepped into Khal Drogo’s funeral pyre in the season finale, and it was also used as a Dathraki "horseman" camp.  Check out the beautiful cliffs from above in this drone video by Rabat jbpix_.

The ancient city of Mdina on the island of Malta is one of the cultural and historical treasures of the Mediterranean region.  Situated in the north-central part of the main island, the city dates to the Antiquity.  It served as the Maltese capital city until the Knights of St. John took over the island in the 16th century and moved the capital to Birgu, one of the cities on the Grand Harbor.  Seen from above in this outstanding drone video by jbpix_, Mdina "played the role" of Kings Landing in Season 1 of HBO's Game of Thrones.  

Malta's St. Paul's Island is so named by reference to a story from the New Testament.  Formally known as Selmunett, the small island lies off the main island's northeastern coast near Selmun.  It is believed by many biblical scholars to be the spot where St. Paul's ship ran aground on his way to Rome in 60 AD, as vividly described in Chapter 28 of Acts of the Apostles.  The purported wreck is memorialized by a statue of St. Paul, which was erected in 1844 and can be seen in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor jbpix_.

Anchor Bay is a small inlet on the northwestern coast of Malta, the Mediterranean island nation.  It is probably best known for a movie set which was built at the head of the bay for the 1980 musical Popeye, a modest box office success and debut film appearance for the late actor Robin Williams.    Built over the course of seven months, the set was turned into a small theme park following the movie's release.  Check out Popeye Village from above in this drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot jbpix_.  

Contributor Duncan DroneNuts used both a DJI Mavic Pro and an first person view (FPV) racing drone to create this captivating video of Ramla Bay in Malta, the Mediterranean island nation.  Ramla Bay is situated at the bottom of a valley on the north side of Gozo, the "second island" of Malta which is located just to the north of the main (namesake) island.  The video offers a unique FPV perspective on this beautiful spot, whose Calypso Cave is believed to be referenced in what of the great literary works of the Antiquity: Homer's Odyssey.

AirVuz contributor and pilot maltawalks brings us this fantastic aerial tour of a well-known bay on the Mediterranean island of Malta.  Gnejna Bay is one of three inlets of the Mediterranean Sea on the northwestern coast of the country's main island.  It's located just south of Golden Bay, near the city of Mġarr.  The video includes footage of the bay's well-known beaches as well as Lippia Tower, a 17th century watchtower which was completed in 1637 and which was part of Malta's extensive coastal fortification system.  

Known informally simply as Ta' Pinu, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu is one of the most famous churches in the Mediterranean island nation of Malta.  It's located on Gozo, the northern of the country's two main island.  Built on the site of an earlier structure, the church was consecrated in 1932 following a ten year construction period.  Seen in this drone video by AirVuz contributor jbpix_, the church saw visits by Pope John Paul II in 1980 and Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.  

Take a first person view (FPV) drone tour of the city of Birgu on the Mediterranean island of Malta in this video by top AirVuz contributor Fpv_travel_girl.  Also known as Vittoriosa, Birgu is one of the "three cities" on the southern side of Malta's Grand Harbor, opposite the capital city of Valletta.  The video was filmed during the summer "feast", a Maltese tradition.  There are over 100 of these events which occur in different towns and cities throughout Malta during the warmer months of the year.  

The Azure Window was a 28 meter (92 ft.) tall natural arch on the island of Gozo, the smaller of the two main islands of the Mediterranean nation of Malta.  The natural limestone formation was one of the top tourist attractions on Gozo before it collapsed in a storm in March of 2017.  Before its demise, the arch had appeared in a number of feature movies and TV shows, most famously as the scene of the Dathraki Wedding in Season 1 of HBO's Game of Thrones.  See what's left of the Azure Window in this drone video by maltawalks.

Check out this highly cinematic aerial look at the great fortress city of Cittadella in the Mediterranean island nation of Malta, compliments of Rossi123.  Cittadella is situated in Victoria, the capital city of the island of Gozo; Gozo is Malta's "second island" which lies just to the northwest of the main island.   The Cittadella dates to pre-Roman times, and was extensively rebuilt in the 16th century.  Home to the Cathedral of thr Assumption, Cittadella has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.  

Check out this drone video of a large cruise ship heading into the port of Valletta in the Mediterranean island of Malta, compliments of contributor and pilot wallaby.  The ship is the Norwegian Spirit, the first of the Leo-class vessels operated by Hong Kong-based Star Cruises.  Launched in 1998 as the SuperStar Leo, the ship displaces about 75k tons and has a beam-to-stern length of around 268 meters (around 880 ft.).  It carries just under 2k passengers in addition to a crew of about a thousand.

AirVuz contributor Shannon Pace @dronexplorerr brings us this excellent drone video of Anchor Bay on the Mediterranean island of Malta.  A deep, narrow bay on the main island's northwestern coast (not far from the town of Mellieha), the village here is sometimes called Popeye Village in honor of a movie filmed here decades ago: the 1979 Robert Altman's film adaptation of the popular comic stip and cartoon series.  The film represented the big screen debut of a young actor named Robin Williams.  

Take a tour of a beautiful seaside village on the Mediterranean island of Malta with this amazing first person view (FPV) drone video by top AirVuz contributor Fpv_travel_girl.  The village is called Marsaxlokk, and it's located on the island's southeastern coast, a bit to the south of the capital city, Valletta.  The village's harbor has been in use since the Antiquity, although sedimentation has reduced its accessibility by larger ships.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January of 2024.  

Comino is a tiny island which sits between Malta and Gozo, the two main islands of the Mediterranean nation of Malta.  With fewer than five permanent residents, it's best known for St. Mary's Tower, a 17th century fortification which overlooks a small bay on the western side of the island, and the Blue Lagoon, which sits between Comino and the tiny islet of Cominotto.  In this drone video by contributor Travel and Drones, you'll get an aerial tour of the island, which is named after the cumin seed which at one time grew in abundance here.

Check out this drone video of the fabled Blue Lagoon in the Mediterranean island nation of Malta, compliments of AirVuz contributor Szantolacka.  Known for its crytal blue waters, the Blue Lagoon is a shallow body of water between the small island of Comino and the even smaller island of Cominotto which lies just to its west.  Both of these islands lie between Malta and Gozo, the two primary islands of Malta.  A magnet for yachts of the super-rich for years, the Blue Lagoon was used as a filming location for the 2004 epic Troy.  

Gozo is the second largest island of the archipelago nation of Malta in the Mediterranean, lying to the north of the country's namesake main island.  Fans of HBO's Game of Thrones series may recognize the Azure Window in Gozo; this now-collapsed rock formation was the filming location for the wedding feast for Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen in the show's first season.  Contributor Zzlat used a DJI Phantom 3 drone to capture aerial views of this paradise of Gozo in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot Fpv_travel_girl brings us this amazing FPV video from a Christmas village on the Mediterranean island of Malta.  The village is located in Triton's Fountain, a plaza just outside of the City Gate of Valletta, the capital city of Malta.  It's one of the most prominent landmarks of the city, which is located on the southeastern side of the main island.  This video was picked by the AirVuz editorial staff for a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in February of 2023.    

The ancient city of Mdina is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Mediterranean island of Malta.  The one-time Muslim settlement built atop a hill on the island's interior was Malta's most important city during the centuries when the island was under the control of Sicily.  Much more recently, Mdina and was a primary filming location for the first season of HBO's of Game of Thrones fantasy/historical TV series.    Check out this aerial view of Mdina, compliments of contributor and pilot AD Drone.
