Northern Germany includes the states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anholt, Thuringia, and Schleswig-Holstein. The region, which is dominated by plains, features the two largest cities in the country (Berlin and Hamburg, the former also being the national capital and one of the great cities of Europe, and the latter one of the most important seaports in Europe), coastlines on the Baltic and North Seas, areas of countless lakes, some of Europe's most important rivers and its best-known rock formations, and a broad assortment of famous churches and castles. Here is a collection of the best bird's eye views of Germany's portion of the great North European Plain. Aerial photo: "Fields of Gold" by AirVuz contributor and drone pilot vierafly.
