Multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist Jackanda brings us this fantastic drone video from the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy.  The video was filmed in the Pale di San Martino, a massif within the Dolomites.  Sometimes called the Pala's, these mountains cover a portion of eastern Trentino and a smaller portion of the province of Belluno.  The highest peak within the Pala's is Vezzana, which has a summit elevation of about 3.2k meters above sea level or around 10.5k ft.  The Dolomites form a portion of the Northern Limestone Alps.  

Top contributor T-christ-T brings us this outstanding drone video from Italy's Dolomite Mountains.  Picked as a DVOW Finalist, the video was filmed over and around the formation known variously as Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Drei Zinnen, a three peak massif which forms the boundary between the provinces of South Tyrol and Belluno. The middle peak (Cima Grande) has an altitude of just over 9.8k ft. above sea level (3k m), while the two outer peaks (Cima Piccola and Cima Ovest) are 500 ft. (150 m) and 85 ft. (26 m) shorter, respectively.  

Top AirVuz contributor scuervo.traveler used a DJI Mavic Pro 3 to create this stunning video from Italy's Dolomite Mountains.  The video was filmed over the course of a 15 day hike through the range, which covers parts of several provinces in the Trentino-Alto-Adigio and Veneto regions in the northeastern part of the country.  At the :11 mark, you'll see Lake Braies, a small but famous lake in the South Tyrol province.  The video also features some spectacular shots (first seen at :18) of the famous three peaks of Tre Cime di Lavaredo.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Richard Beresford Harris brings us this stunning drone video from one of the most iconic scenes in the Alps: the Tre Cime di Lavaredo mountain formation in northeastern Italy.  Also known (in German) as the Drei Zinnen, the three peaks are located on the border between the province of South Tyrol in the Trentino-Algo-Adigion region and the province of Belluno in the neighboring region of Veneto.  The tallest of the three peaks stands 9.8k ft. above sea level or about 3k m.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Richard Bersesford Harris brings us this spectacular drone video from a famous alpine meadow in northern Italy.  It's called the Seiser Alm, and it's located within the Dolomite Mountain Range in the province of South Tyrol.  Covering about 20 square mi. (around 53 square km), the valley is surrounded by some of the most well-known peaks of the Dolomites, which are part of the Northern Limestone Alps.  The valley itself sits at an elevation between 5.5k-7.9k ft. above sea level (about 1.7k -2.35k m).

Multiple Drone Video of the Week finalist and winner msember created this brilliant drone video of a stunning lake in northern Italy.  It's called Lago Di Braies, and it's located in the province of South Tyrol in the Trentino-Alto-Adige Region.  Also known as Pragser Wildsee from the days when the province was part of Austria prior to World War I, the lake covers a surface area of only 77 acres (about 35 hectares) but has a maximum depth of over 35 meters (almost 120 ft.).  The video captures the early morning fog hanging over the lake.

Located in the hills of southern Trentino (the southern half of the Trentino-Alto-Adige region of northern Italy), Castle Beseno dates back to the 16th century. Used as a fortress and re-shaped to protect its inhabitants against firearms, it sits overlooking the Adige Valley. Thanks to this high-definition drone footage by Dronescapes by Atellani (using an Inspire2 and ZenmuseX7), we are all able to appreciate the massive and impressive fortress that stands strong hundreds of years after it was originally built. 

Stelvio Pass isn't the highest mountain pass in the Alps but it is, by all accounts, one of the best drives not just in the Alps but in the world.  It connects the province of Sondrio (part of the Lombardy region) with that of South Tyrol (part of the Trentino-Alto-Adigio region).  Running parallel to the Swiss border, it reaches a height of about 2.75k meters (just over 9k ft.)making it the second highest paved pass in the Alps.  The magnificent roadway is shown from above in this drone video by Dronescapes by Atellani.  

The Dolomites are one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in all of Europe. With spectacular views like the ones you see in this incredible drone video by Italian pilot Dronescapes by Atellani you can see why. The video specifically features two locations, Passo Sella and Passo Gardena. The Sella Pass is located between the provinces of Trentino and South Tyrol and Canazei in the Fascia Valley in Trentino. AirVuz contributor wdejager was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist for this excellent drone video of the Passeier Valley in northern Italy.  The valley runs on a roughly north-south basis from the Timmelsjoch pass through the Ötztal Alps near the Austrian border south to the convergence of the valley's namesake river with the Adige River, Italy's second longest waterway.    It's part of South Tyrol, the northernmost of the two provinces which make up the region of Trentino-Alto-Adigio.  

Check out this drone video of a famous partially submerged church in northern Italy, compliments of contributor and pilot Kpax. In 1950, the mountain town of Curon Venosta in South Tyrol was sacrificed to make way for a hydroelectric project in the area which required two nearby lakes to be merged and enlarged as the reservoir.  While the residents were relocated to a new town at a higher altitude, the only remaining sign of the original town is its church, which was only partially submerged in the deluge.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Kpax brings us this excellent drone video from the mountains of northern Italy.  The video was filmed around the village of Solda, which is part of the commune of Stilfs.  It's located in the Vinschgau Valley.  Known as the Val Venosta in Italian, it's the name for the upper part of the Adige River Valley.  It runs on a generally east-west axis through the province of South Tyrol, one of the two provinces of the Trentino-Alto-Adigio Region.  The video was filmed with a DJI Air 2S drone.  

Weighing only about a pound (around a half a kg), the DJI Air 3 is a perfect aerial photography platform for content creators needing a lightweight drone.  Witness this outstanding video by top AirVuz contributor Karem Hajoj, which was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest in March of 2024.  The video was filmed over the Dolomite Mountains in the South Tyrol province of northeastern Italy.  A subchain of the Southern Limestone Alps, the Dolomite mountains offer some of Europe's most spectacular alpine scenery.  

The Italian Dolomites are some of the most scenic mountains in the world. Just ask pilot Alberto Ardit who spent three days traveling through them, capturing epic aerial footage along the way. The locations he’s visiting include: Dobbiaco, or Toblach, in South Tyrol; the largest natural lake of the Cadore, Lake Misurina; Auronzo di Cadore in the Italian region of Veneto; and the Drei Zinnen, or Tre Time di Lavaredo, three distinctive battlement-like peaks in the Sexten Dolomites.

For a second upload to AirVuz, contributor nicomazz brings us this outstanding drone video from Lake Garda, Italy's largest lake.  The video was shot over the northern end of the lake, which is roughly 52 km long (around 32 mi.).  It features the following locations, in order of first appearance: the towns of Limone sul Gard and Riva sul Garda; Ferrata Fausto Susatti a road which runs along the ridge know as Cima Capi; and Arco and Drena Castles.  Apart from Limone sul Gard, all of these locations are in the province of Trentino.  

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Paco Ferrando brings us this excellent aerial view of Italy's Mt. Seceda.  Seceda is a well-known peak in the Dolomite Mountains range, which is a subchain of the Northern Limestone Alps.  It's situated in South Tyrol, Italy's northernmost province and one of the two which make up the Trentino-Alto-Adigio region.  Seceda has a summit elevation of just over 2.5k meters above sea level or a bit under 8.3k ft.  The mountain lies within the Puez Odle Nature Park.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Tommaso Biagi brings us this fantastic drone video from the mountains of northern Italy.  The area filmed is the commune of Cavalese in Trentino, the southern of the two provinces which make up the Trentino-Alto-Adigio Region.  Cavalese is situated in the Fiemme Valley, which is part of the Dolomite Mountains range (a sub-range of the Alps).  Cavalese was the site of a disaster in 1998, when a US Marine jet severed a cable car rope, killing 20 people.  

Prepare to be amazed by these drone views of the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy, compliments of top contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot Michael Dickson.  The video was filmed using a GoPro Hero 11 camera mounted to an FPV quad, combined with gimbal-stabilized footage from a DJI Mavic 3 drone.   Among other highlights, the video features some great shots of Mt. Seceda, a prominent Dolomites peak in the province of South Tyrol which has a summit elevation of just under 8.3k ft. above sea level or just over 2.5k m.

Check out this stunning 4k drone video of one of the most famous masifs in the Alps, compliments of mavic pro.  Called, in various languages, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Drei Zinnen, or the Three Peaks, it's part of the Dolomites range which is itself part of the Southern Limestone Alps.  While the elevation of the middle peak is a modest 3k meters (around 9.8k ft.) they are amongst the world's most visually distinctive mountains.  They lie on the border between the Italian provinces of South Tyrol and Belluno.  

Check out this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone mountain surfing video from Italy's Dolomite Mountains, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot b1z1o_fpv.  The video employs some very creative "setup" shots with a gimbal-stabilized drone; these shots help to convey the immensity of these peaks, which fom part of the Southern Limestone Alps.  This video, which includes an epic ridge dive starting at about the 1:00 mark, was picked by the AirVuz editorial staff for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in February, 2023.  

70daysaroundtheworld created this video memory of an epic eight hour hike into the Alps Mountains right on the Austro-Italian border.  It's the area around Timmelsjoch, which is a mountain pass that connects the Ötztal Valley in the Austrian state of Tyrol with the Passeier Valley in the Italian province of South Tyrol.  The mountains here are known as the Ötztal Alps, which is a subchain of the Central Eastern Alps.  The pass has an elevation of just under 2.5k meters or just over 8.1k ft.  

Top AirVuz contributor Kpax was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist for this excellent video from the Dolomite Mountains in northeastern Italy.  The video was shot over the Rosengarten massif, which lies between the Tierser Tal and Eggental valleys in South Tyrol, one of the provinces of the Trentino Alto Adige region.  Distinguished by its pink shade, the massif reaches a peak altitude of about 9.85 ft. above sea level, or around 3k m.  The Dolomites are part of the Southern Limestone Alps chain.  

Visitors to the South Tyrol province of northern Italy are sometimes confused by the German-sounding names which are almost ubiquitous here.  The reason for that is that the area was part of Austria (actually, the Austro-Hungarian Empire) until the defeat of the Central Powers in World War I.  As a reward for joining the Allied cause, Italy was granted control of the province as part of the peace settlement.  Check out this stunningly beautiful region from above in this drone video by johannesbloechl.  

The three Northern Italian peaks you'll see here in this drone video by haussmannvisuals are variously known as Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Drei Zinnen, or the Three Merlons.  Under any name, they are amongst the most well-recognized mountain peaks in the entire Alps Mountains system.  Situated on the border between the South Tyrol province of Trentino-Alto-Adigio and the Belluno province of the Veneto region, the middle mountain of the massif has a peak altitude of 3k meters or 9.8k ft. above sea level.

The commune of Avio in northern Italy is home to one of the region's most well-known medieval castles.  Seen in this drone video by Alberto Ardit, the Castle of Avio is situated  in Trentino, the southernmost of the two provinces that make up the Trentino-Alto-Adigio region of Italy.  First mentioned in a document in the 11th century, the castle is distinguished by its three lines of walls and five tours.  It is situated in a strategic position in the valley of the Adige River, Italy's second-longest waterway.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Aldo Colaianni brings us this stunning drone video from the Dolomite Mountains in northeastern Italy.  The video opens with a shot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen) massif which lies on the border between the provinces of South Tyrol (part of the Trentino-Alto-Adigio region) and Belluno (part of the neighboring region of Veneto).  Filmed with a DJI Mini 3 Pro, the video will also take you over other famous spots in the Dolomites such the pristine Lake Braes (Pragser Wildsee).  

Italy's Trentino-Alto Adige region consists of two distinct provinces: South Tyrol and Trentino; confusingly, the former is the northern of the two.  Together, they represent the southern half of the historical region known as Tyrol, which was territory of Austro-Hungaria prior to World War I but only the northern part of which is part of modern-day Austria.  In this magnificent drone video by electricife, you'll get an aerial tour of an area where the two "halves: of Trentino-Alto Adige meet: the adjacent Sella and Gardena Passes.   

Historically, the mountain passes of Italy's northern Trentino province represented invasion paths into the great Po River Valley.  Due to their strategic importance, castles and fortresses were built to cover many of these passes.  In this drone video by Drisma, you'll be treated to aerial views of the following Trentino castles: Drena Castle, Besenello Castle, Madruzzo Castle, Thun Castle, the Castle of Avio, Tenno Castle, Pergine Castle, San Giovanni Castle, Cles Castle, Valér Castle, Belasi Castle, and Stenico Castle.

AirVuz contributor nicomazz brought a DJI Mavic Air 2 along for a three day/two night trip into the mountains of northern Italy, bringing back footage to make this incredible video record of the journey.  Following the Alta Via del Granito route beginning at the village of Malga Sorgazza, they scale the Cima d'Asta, the highest peak in the Fiemme Mountains, which form part of the Southern Limestone Alps in the Trentino-Alto-Adigio Region.  The Cima d'Asta has a peak elevation of about 2.85k meters above sea level or around 9.35k ft.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Richard Beresford Harris brings us this stunning done view of a pass in the Dolomite Mountains of northern Italy.  It's called Rolle Pass (Passo Rolle), and it connects the  Fiemme and Primiero Valleys.  The pass runs at an altitude of about 6.5k ft. above sea level (just under 1.9k m).  The road which runs over the pass was built in the mid-19th century, when the region was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (it came under Italian control following the defeat of the Central Powers in World War I).  

Top AirVuz contributor Liam Hights spent two nights in Italy's famed Dolomite mountains and emerged with this fantastic video, which was picked as a DVOW Finalist in January of 2025.  Filmed with a DJI Mini 3 Pro as well as a DJI Mini 4 Pro, the video will take you over and around the Rosengarten group, massif which is distinguished in part by its pink coloring.  The group lies along the boundary between South Tyrol and Trentino, the two provinces which make up the Trentino-Alto-Adigio region in the northeastern part of the country.  

Check out these spectacular drone views of a castle town in northern Italy, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot.  Using a DJI Mavic Pro drone, he filmed the area around the town of Arco in the province of Trentino, part of the Trentino-Alto-Adigio Region.  The "star" of the show is the hilltop Arco Castle, which sits atop a rock spur overlooking the town and the surrounding Sarca Valley.  Dating to around the 10th century AD, the castle was abandoned during the Wars of the Spanish Succession in the early 18th century.   

AirVuz contributor Gabriele Gatti put together this excellent aerial highlight reel showing some of his favorite peaks of Italy's Dolomite Mountains.  First up is Mt. Seceda, which rises to a peak elevation of just over 2.5k meters above sea level (around 8.265k ft.).  Then it's on to the somewhat taller Mt. Sassolungo, followed by Mt. Marmolada, the highest Dolomite, which rises 3.35k meters (a bit over 10.4k ft.).  The last stop is the Sella group, which lies just north of Marmolada and whose highest peak is just a bit lower.  

In this video, AirVuz contributor ClearSky brings us some excellent aerial videos from the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy.  The video features the following locations: Sasso Pordoi, Monte Christallo, Cima Cadin, and Lagazuoi in the Belluno province of the Veneto region; Geisler Alm, Seceda, and Langkofel in the South Tyrol province of the Trentino-Alto-Adigio region; Valporola in Belluno; and Lago di Braies back in South Tyrol.  Known for their sharp peaks, the Dolomites are part of the Northern Limestone Alps.  

See the famous Val Gardena valley in the Dolomite Mountains of northern Italy in this drone video by top AirVuz contributor and pilot Kpax. Located in the South Tyrol Province of the Trentino-Alto-Adigio region, the valley is known as a hot spot for mountain sports of all stripes.  The piece includes some nice shots of Marmolada, which overlooks the valley and is the highest mountain in the Dolomites with a peak elevation of just under 11k ft. above sea level (around 3.35k m).   The video was filmed with a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone.

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Alta Movie srl brings us this fantastic drone video from the Dolomite Mountains of northern Italy.  The video opens with a fantastic shot skimming over the Toblacher See, a lake in the province of South Tyrol.  From there, you'll head into the heart of the range, which is part of the Northern Limestone Alps and which straddles the regions of Trentino-Alto-Adigio and Veneto.  The video features some stunning shots of the pilot standing atop a rocky, snow-covered ridge. 

Check out this excellent drone video of a well-known castle town in northern Italy, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Max232.  The town of Bruneck is located in the province of South Tyrol, its German-sounding name a function of the province being a territory of Austria-Hungary prior to World War I.  Bruneck lies at the confluence of the Rivers Ahr and Rienz, in the Puster Valley.  The town came to prominence in the late Middle Ages, when it sat astride an important trade route between Venice and Augsburg (in modern-day Germany).  

Talented pilot Muhamad AbuShakra is taking us back to the Dolomites in all their glory in the height of autumn colors. Shot with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, he’ll give us a variety of shots from South Tyrol, never afraid to fly into the fog or right above the glassy water provided by glacial lakes. Also known as the Pale Mountains, the range was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in August of 2009. 

In this excellent drone video by Travel and Drones you'll explore some lesser known spots around Lake Garda in northern Italy.  The first part of the video was shot on Monte Baldo, which runs along the eastern shore of Italy's largest lake in the provinces of Trentino and Verona.  The next stop is a bit to the north: the medieval castle on the shores of Lake Toblino in Trento.  The last stop is Fort Ardietti, a 19th century fortification just south of Lake Garda in Verona, near the border with the province of Brescia.

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Dronescapes by Atellani created this stunning "5k" aerial video of Italy's Dolomite Mountains.  Situated in the northeastern part of the country, this range is part of the eastern Alps, which have somewhat lower altitudes (but frequently greater prominence) than the western Alps.  While the highest peaks in the Dolomites are a modest 3-3.3k meters (just under 11k ft) they more than make up for their modest altitude by their spectacular limestone rock formations.  

Part of what makes the Dolomite Mountains of northern Italy so attractive is their accessibility.  Part of the Northern Limestone Alps, the Dolomites are shared between the Trentino-Alto-Adigio and Veneto Regions.  With altitudes of a little over 3.3k meters above sea level (about 11k ft.), they are far easier to reach compared to the taller peaks to the west.  This opens up endless possibilities for drone pilot to film the hikes as well as the spectacular piece, as you'll see in this amazing video by Alessandro_Campo.   

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor fafo87 brings us this fantastic wintertime drone video from a town in the mountains of northern Italy.  The village of Soprabolzano is one of the fraziones (administrative sub-divisions) of the commune of Ritten in South Tyrol, one of the two provinces which make up the Trentino-Alto-Adigio region.  The German-sounding names of the towns and villages of the region is a historical legacy: until World War I, South Tyrol was a province of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.  

Check out this fantastic drone video from the Dolomite Mountains in Italy's South Tyrol province, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot copter one.  The Schlern has a peak altitude of just under 2.6k meters above sea level or around 8.4k ft.  The mountain's peak is called Santner Spitze in honor of Johann Santner who first reached it in 1880.  Its Germanic name, common to many of the Dolomite Peaks, is a vestige of the fact that South Tyrol was under control of the Austro-Hungarian Empire prior to World War I.  

Top AirVuz content creator and drone pilot armandoWDN brings us this excellent aerial view of one of the most beautiful churches in Italy's Dolomite Mountains.  It's called St. Valentine's Chapel, and it's located near the city of Rovereto in Trentino, the southern of the two provinces which make up the Trentino-Alto-Adige region.  Located at the gateway to the Dolomite Mountains, the original structure here dates to the 13th century AD, although the church has undergone substantial changes since then.  

AirVuz contributor Luigi78 brings us this excellent drone video of a pair of alpine lakes in the Trentino Province of northern Italy.  The larger of the two is Lake Caldonazzo.  This lake sits at an elevation of about 1.5k ft. above sea level or around 450 m.  It covers a surface area of about two square mi. or around five square km.  The smaller of the two lakes lies to its east, Lake Levico.   Both lakes are located in the community of Alta Valsugana e Bersntol, in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains.  

AirVuz contributor b1z10_fpv is best known as a first person view (FPV) pilot, but he used a (gimbal-stabilized) DJI Mini 2 drone to make this beautiful video from the mountains of northern Italy.  The video was filmed over and around the Lagorai, a massif of the Eastern Alps range in Trentino, the southernmost of the two provinces of the Trentino-Alto-Adigio Region.  The highest peak of the Lagorai, Mt. Cima de Cice, has a peak altitude of just over 9k ft. above sea level or around 2.75k m.  

Talented contributor Richard Beresford Harris brings us this fantastic drone video from the Italy's Dolomite Mountains.  The video features footage from a series of passes through these majestic peaks, which are part of the Northern Limestone Alps: Falzarego, which connects the towns of Agordo and Cortina d'Ampezzo in the province of Belluno; Pordoi, which connects the towns of Arabba (also in Beluno) with Canazei, in the province of South Tyrol; Gardena, in South Tyrol; and Sella, which connects the provinces of South Tyrol and Trentino.

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist rimroosjen used a DJI Mini 3 to create this stunning video from the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy.  The eight oz. (249 g) quad does a phenomenomal job of showing off the beauty of these peaks, which form part of the Northern Limestone Alps and which run across provinces of the Trentino-Alto-Adigio and Veneto regions in the northeastern part of the country.  You'll soar over some of the most spectacular alpine sceney in Europe, complete with verdant meadows dotted by iconic churches.

Known variously as the Three Peaks of Lavaredo (Tre Cime di Lavaredo) and the Three Merlins (Drei Zinnen), the three battlement peaks shown in this excellent drone video by Never Stop Exploring are one of the most iconic sites of the Alps.  The peaks are part of the Dolomite Mountains, which form part of the Southern Limestone Alps.  The middle and tallest peak, known as Cima Grande or Große Zinne, has an elevation of 3k meters above sea level or just over 9.8k ft.  The peaks straddle the regions of Trentino-Alto-Adigio and Veneto.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo (also known by its German name, Drei Zinnen, are some of the most distinctive looking mountains in the Dolomites of northern Italy.  Once part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, they now sit on the border between the Veneto and Trentino-Alto-Adigio regions of Italy.  The mountains appeared (in computer-modified form) in the 2018 Star Wars deriviative: Solo: A Star Wars Story.  You can seen them from a drone's perspective in this amazing video by AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Alberto Ardit.  

The mountains of northern Italy have become something of a magnet for drone pilots, including those flying first person view (FPV) racing drones.  As evidence, check out this fantastic piece by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot SirM Productions, who used a mini-drone to "surf" an area known as the Staller Saddle.  It's a mountain pass in the High Tauern range, which is part of the Central Eastern Alps.  The pass connects the Italian province of South Tyrol with the East Tyrol are of neighboring Austria.
