Drone Videos of San Francisco

This wonderful 4K San Francisco piece by FrameworkFilms opens with some outstanding shots of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, looking west toward the Financial District. At the 1:35 mark, there's an epic view of Coit Tower on Russian Hill looking at the same scene from the northwest.  Here you'll get very clear views of the city's three tallest buildings as of 2019 - the Salesforce Tower, Bank of America Center, and the Transamerica Pyramid. Other shots include the Golden Gate Bridge, great timelapses of downtown, and more. 

A great deal of care went into this 4k cinematic drone reel of San Francisco from top content creator and pilot AttilioRuffoPhotography. He cautiously flew a DJI Mavic Pro drone over the northern California city, capturing its skyline (including the new Salesforce Tower, which became the city's new height champion in 2017), the famed Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, Coit Tower atop Telegraph Hill, Dolores Park, and more.  If you love the City by the Bay, these bird's eye views will delight you! 

This piece by Ian Montgomery was chosen as the winner of the 2016 Bay Area Drone Film Festival in the "Bay Area" category.  The first part of the video features was shot over the brackish waters of the southern part of San Francisco Bay.  From there, you'll get some great views of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge before heading over to the San Francisco Financial District.  Other featured locations include Coit Tower, the Dumbarton Bridge (the southernmost crossing of the Bay), Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, and more.

With its early start as the main banking and financial center on the USA's West Coast, San Francisco has long been home to one of the country's most impressive skylines.  With some of the tallest skyscrapers on the West Coast, and a stunning setting on the bay, the SF skyline is even more of a marvel when seen from an aerial perspective.  In this reel, contributor Glazed Aerials used a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone to create this amazing aerial tour of the city, which includes footage of the Transamerica Pyramid, SalesForce Tower, and more.  

This outstanding aerial tour of San Francisco by jayxlamar opens with a great shot looking northwest through the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge towards the Financial District, whose skyline is now dominated by the Salesforce Tower.  At the :43 mark, there's a stunning shot of the Golden Gate Bridge, one of the USA's most iconic landmarks.  At the 1:35 mark, you'll see the Bay Bridge facing east towards Treasure Island and beyond it the city of Oakland.  The final shot will take you back to the western terminus of the Bay Bridge.

The Golden Gate Bridge connects the City of San Francisco with Marin County to its north, at the opening of San Francisco Bay.  It was conceived during the depths of the Great Depression, and at the time of its completion in 1937, it was the longest and tallest suspension span bridge in the world at 1.3k meters (4.2k ft.).  Contributor and pilot Jordanthe used a drone to create a memorable aerial view of this bridge, which since its construction has been one of the most iconic sites in the United States.   

Top contributor and drone pilot SFDrones put together this epic aerial video of the San Francisco Bay area.  While it's got amazing bird's eye views of the iconic San Francisco skyline, much of the video is shot outside of "the City" as its known to the locals.  It has some amazing aerial shots of the South Bay, including the area around the Dumbarton Bridge (the southernmost of the three bridges which cross the bay, Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara (home of the 49ers football team), and much more.

With short bursts of epic footage, you will be taken around to see virtually all of the highlights of San Francisco. AirVuz contributor hankstahlecker brings us this outstanding one-shot drone video of San Francisco, California.  The shot begins with a "reveal" of the Financial District facing to the south and heading west, with the Transamerica Pyramid in the foreground and Salesforce Tower in the background.  At about the :45 mark, Coit Tower (which sits atop Telegraph Hill) slides into the frame.  As the drone circles the tower clockwise, you'll see the Golden Gate Bridge pop into view at about 1:06, followed a few seconds later by Alcatraz Island.  

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot sfdrones brings us this rather haunting drone video of San Francisco as the great city of Northern California was inundated with ash and smoke from raging forest fires in the late summer of 2020.  Filmed in the early morning hours, the video opens with shots looking north toward AT&T Park.  Starting at about the :27 mark, you'll see the western end of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, followed by shots of the Financial District.  It closes with some rather haunting shots of the Sutro Tower transmitter.  

Ordinarily one of San Francisco's busiest districts, the city's Chinatown neighborhood was seemingly devoid of people during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Spring of 2020.  With tourism more or less shut down and the city's residents under a community quarantine, first person view (FPV) pilot InspireFPV was able to get out with his racing quad and film the eerie scene you'll see in this excellent video.  The largest ethnic Chinese neighborhood in the Western Hemisphere, Chinatown lies just west of the Financial District.   

This is a drone video from contributor and pilot 400ft of Treasure Island, an artificial island in San Francisco Bay.  The island was built in the 1930's for the World's Fair.  It was originally planned to be the site of a second San Francisco airport, but when World War II started it was taken over by the US military.  Following base closure in the late 1990's the island has been undergoing a process of environmental remediation and redevelopment.  The island divides the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge into its eastern and western halves.

Contributor 91 Kilometers created this great drone video of San Francisco's Embarcadero, the eastern part of the city's waterfront.  After the Lomita Prieta Earthquake of 1989 caused a partial collapse of the SF Bay Bridge and an East Bay freeway, it was feared that the elevated freeway which had obscured the area for years was not structurally sound and was torn down.  In the ensuing decades, the waterfront has been  completely transformed.  The Embarcadero is now a lively pedestrian scene and home to one of the country's largest farmers markets.    

San Francisco's TransAmerica Pyramid is one of the USA's most iconic skyscrapers.  Completed in 1972, the tower had a two year run as the tallest building west of Chicago, surpassed by what is now the Aon Center in Los Angeles in 1974.  The pyramid's run as the tallest building in San Francisco lasted considerably longer: the 260 meter (about 850 ft.) structure held the title of the tallest building in the City by the Bay for over four decades before being passed by the Salesforce.com tower during construction in 2017.

Contributor and drone pilot AdventurousDrone brings us this beautiful look at a fog-enshrouded Golden Gate Bridge, one of the world's most recognized landmarks.  One of the reasons why it's almost universally recognized is that it's one of the world's biggest movie stars.  Literally dozens of feature films have used the bridge as a shooting location, ranging from its use as the backdrop for a well known shot in Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo to the scene of an epic fight in the 1985 James Bond movie View to a Kill. 

Muir Woods is one of the great natural treasures of the San Francisco Bay area. It's an area of old growth redwood forests near Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge which connects Marin County to the city of San Francisco.  The main area of the woods was donated to the US government from a private citizen, and later converted to a national monument by President Theodore Roosevelt.  In this video from Trosencrantz, you'll get a bird's eye view of the fog-enshrouded ancient forest.

Check out this amazing dronie from the Presidio in San Francisco, compliments of contributor and drone pilot Pedrooninsta.   Now part of the Golden Gate Recreational Area, the Presidio was a US Army fortress until being phased out after the Cold War.  Originally a Spanish fortress, the forces stationed at the Presidio were called upon to assist the city when it was devastated by the great 1906 earthquake and fire.  In the video, the shot pulls in the Golden Gate Bridge looming behind the fortress.

Check out this beautiful tour-by-drone of the San Francisco Bay area, compliments of contributor and pilot 91 Kilometers.  It opens with a beautiful shot of the Palace of Fine Arts in the San Francisco Marina District.  From there it jumps across the bay to the Port of Oakland, downtown Oakland, the hills of Marin County, and even as far as Santa Cruz, located well to the south of the Bay Area.  You'll also get some overhead shots of the new eastern section of the SF Bay Bridge, completed in 2013.

Top contributor Bbloss created this stunning drone video of what may be the world's most expensive bridge. Following its partial collapse during the 1989 San Francisco earthquake, a decision was made to rebuild the eastern half of the landmark San Francisco Bay Bridge, which spans over 7 km (almost 4.5 mi.) over the bay.  Construction on the eastern span replacement began in 2002 and wasn't completed until 2013, a six year delay. Its final coast was $6.5 billion, vs. an initial estimate of $250 million!  

Zachary Bostick used a DJI Mavic Pro to create this beautiful aerial view of San Francisco at sunset.  It opens with a great shot of the iconic San Francisco Ferry Building, which once was used to shuttle tens of thousands of passengers across the bay before the city's bridges were built.  From there it's on to a shot of the western part of the Bay Bridge, some beautiful shots of the financial district, a look northward towards Coit Tower.  At the end, you'll be able to see Alcatraz off in the distance.

Sfdrones created this amazing (if haunting) drone video of San Francisco choked in smoke from nearby wildfires.  As the sun struggles to fight through the smoke, you will see some of the most familiar (and beautiful) sights of the city (including the Financial District and Rincon Park) from a completely different perspective.  The most chilling footage shows the new Salesforce Tower, now the tallest building in the city, looming menacingly in the distance.  The smoke triggered major air quality alerts.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Nardy2600 used a GoPro Karma and a DJI Spark drone to create this very creative aerial look at Oakland, California.  San Francisco's "sister" city across the San Francisco Bay, Oakland is the third-largest city in the Bay Area after San Jose and San Francisco.  The video features some great shots of the city's downtown, including the iconic Tribune Tower and the historic Fox Oakland Theater.  You'll also see some great shots of the giant freeways which run through the city, the Port of Oakland, and more.

Check out this stunning drone video from San Francisco Bay, compliments of Grigori6032.  The video opens with a shot from the National Maritime Museum looking southeast towards the Bay Bridge and Treasure Island.  As the drone flies off into the bay, there's a great "reveal" shot of the nearby Ghirardelli Square and the National Maritime Museum.  Then it's on to Alcatraz Island, once used to hold military prisoners beginning in the Civil War, later a famously high security federal penitentiary which closed in 1963.  

Check out the views from atop Mt. Tamalpais overlooking San Francisco, complimens of contributor and drone pilot Mamitagadventures.  The mountain is situated in Marin County, on the far (north) side of the Golden Gate Bridge.  It has a peak elevation of about 780 meters (just under 2.6k ft.), with very high prominence due  to its base being right at sea level.   It's a very popular hiking area, and its peak affords unmatched views of the City (as San Francisco is known to the locals) and the entire northern bay. 

You will get an entirely new perspective on San Francisco's Golden Gate Park in this awesome first person view (FPV) video by contributor and FPV pilot InspireFPV.  The rectangular-shaped park is almost 5 km long (just under 3 mi.) and is 20% larger than New York's Central Park.  The video will give you some epic first-person views of some of the park's top sights, including Music Concourse plaza, the Academy of Sciences, and the Hamon Observation Tower. The park is located in the western part of the city, just east of its Pacific coastline.

Bright and sunny skies, generally moderate winds, and beautiful aerial vineyard and winery views are three reasons why hot air ballooning has always been a big draw in Napa County, California.  This large wine growing center located northeast of San Francisco has many balloons floating over it on a given day, probably as many as any spot in the United States.  In this video, top content creator and pilot SF Drones gives us a drone view of the balloons floating in the crystal blue California sky. 

Contributor trosencrantz created this phenomenal drone video of one of the most well-recognized spots in the USA: the area around the Golden Gate Bridge in the San Francisco Bay area.  The video opens with an epic shot looking eastward over the Depression-Era landmark towards the skyline of San Francisco, featuring some amazing time-lapse shots over and around the bridge.  Then the video shifts to the stunningly beautiful Marin Headlands, the area near the northern end of the great bridge.  

Here's an amazing aerial look at an early morning San Francisco, compliments of contributor sfdrones.  The video opens with some epic shots of some almost glass-smooth waters on the bay, then transitions to some amazing shots of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge (specifically its western section).  From there you'll get some amazing aerial views of the Embarcadero waterfront area, the financial district, and an amazing finale looking westward over the whole city towards the ocean.  

Caldroneflyer brings us an aerial look at one of the world's most famous universities.  Stanford University is in Palo Alto, California, about 45 minutes south of San Francisco.  It was founded in 1891 by railroad magnate Leland Stanford.  While considerably younger than most of its  East Coast competitors, it is nonetheless considered one of the top half-dozen research universities in the world.  Watch the video to get bird's views of Hoover Tower, the Quad, and other sights on its 8k acre campus.

Contributor and pilot NGreyTravels created this beautiful drone video of what has been billed as the "crookedest street in the world" - Lombard Street in San Francisco.  Actually, the moniker applies to just a single block of this major east-west thoroughfare: the western side of Russian Hill.    With its eight hairpin curves here, the road's design was intended to reduce its grade at a time (the 1920's) when motor vehicles had less effective engines and brakes.  It's one of the city's most iconic sights.  

While gimbal-stabilized camera drones such as the DJI Phantom and Mavic lines have revolutionized the world of sailing, these quadcopters aren't suited to high speed sailing.  Even if they are fast enough to keep up with fast-moving sailboats, they aren't able to get shots like what you will see in this remarkable video by top contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot SFPV.  He used a GoPro mounted to a racing quadcopter to film some seriously insane catamaran sailing action on San Francisco Bay.  

Check out this beautiful early-morning view of the area around the San Francisco Financial District, compliments of contributor 91 Kilometers.  It begins with a nice shot panning west, with the Bay Bridge appearing in the background.  Then the drone heads north along the Embarcadero, an area once covered by a freeway which was torn down following the 1989 earthquake.  From there you'll get to see the Embarcadero Center office complex, the Transamerica Pyramid, and the new Salesforce Tower.  

San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts is one of the cultural landmarks of the City by the Bay.  Located in the Marina District, it was built for the Panama–Pacific International Exposition of 1915, the world's fair billed as San Francisco's rebirth party following the devastating 1906 Earthquake.  It was the only Expo venue which was deemed permanent, although it had to be more or less demolished and reconstructed in the 1960s.  It houses the Exploratorium science museum as well as a live theater.  

The heart of San Francisco is the Civic Center area around the intersection of Market Street and Van Ness Avenue, just southwest of the Financial District.  The centerpiece of the Civic Center area is the magnificent domed San Francisco City Hall.  The landmark was completed in 1915 as a replacement for its predecessor building, which was destroyed in the great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake.  Seen here in this drone video by Grigori6032, the behmoth covers two full square blocks and has a dome which is taller than the US Capitol Building.  

Check out this drone video of San Francisco's just-completed Chase Center, compliments of contributor FlyinCameras.  The 18k seat arena opened in September, 2019 as the new home of the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball League, NBA Champions in three of the five seasons beginning with the 2014-15 season.  Chase Center is located in the Mission Bay area, just south of the Bay Bridge.   Prior to the 2019-2020 NBA season, the team had played at Oracle Arena in Oakland for nearly five decades.  

The area south of San Francisco, California known as Silicon Valley is the center of the world for the technology industry.  Amongst the thousands of companies born here, two names stand out: Apple and Google.  In this drone video from contributor and pilot calfdroneflyer, you'll get  bird's eye view of the headquarters of the two behemoths, which command a combined market capitalization of nearly $2 trillion as of mid-2019: the "Googleplex" in Mountain View and Apple's new headquarters in Cupertino.  

New AirVuz contributor splineglass brings us this excellent drone video of Fisherman's Wharf, one of the USA's most popular tourist destinations.  The area stretches along the city's northern waterfront, roughly from Ghirardelli Square in the west to the Pier 35 area in the east.  The video features footage of the main marina, the Jeremy O'Brien Liberty Ship docked at Pier 45, the Pier 39 shopping area, the National Maritime Museum, as well as other iconic San Francisco sights such as the Financial District and the Golden Gate Bridge.  

AirVuz contributor hankstahlecker brings us this marvelous one-shot drone view of San Francisco's Oracle Park, the home field of the city's San Francisco Giants Major League Baseball team.  The stadium was named Pac Bell Park when it opened in 2000 and for nearly two decades thereafter until Oracle acquired naming rights in 2019.  The video ends with a dramatic pullback shot over the San Francisco Bay (which lies immediately to the east of the stadium), revealing the city's Financial District to the north of Oracle Park. 

Contributor Caldroneflyer used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this aerial view of the port of Oakland, California.  Lying on the east side of San Francisco Bay just west of downtown Oakland, Oakland's seaport long ago overtook the port of San Francisco.  The primary seaport for Northern California, Oakland is the fourth busiest seaport on the USA's West Coast, after Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Seattle-Tacoma (since 2015 a single facility).  It's one of the ten busiest container ports in the country. 

Check out this excellent drone video of San Francisco's Coit Tower, compliments of splineglass.  Completed in 1933, the concrete Art Deco style landmark is located atop Telegraph Hill, frequently considered the most scenic of the city's seven main hills.  Dedicated to a firefighter who perished in one of the city's fires, Coit Tower stands 64 meter tall, or about 210 ft..    The video will give you a full 360 degree view of the tower, providing excellent perspectives of the Financial Distict, Alcatraz Island, the Bay Bridge, and more. 

Contributor and pilot caldroneflyer used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to film one of the world's largest and best-known factories - the main Tesla assembly plant in northern California.  It's situated in Fremont, a large community on the east side of San Francisco Bay.  The plant began its life in 1962 as a General Motors factory, then became part of a joint venture between GM and Toyota which ended in 2009.  Purchased by Tesla the next year and heavily renovated, it began producing Tesla Model S's in 2012.  

Former DVOW Finalist la.drones brings us this magnificent drone video from the campus of the University of California, Berkeley.  The video opens with some great shots of Sathers Tower, the world's third-highest clock tower.  At around the :40 mark, you'll see the California Memorial Stadium, home of the California Bears NCAA Men's Football team.  Located in the hills above Oakland, California (on the eastern side of San Francisco Bay), Cal Berkeley is the flagship of the UC system and one of the world's top research institutions.  

San Francisco's Olympic Club is the oldest athletic club in the United States, having been founded in 1860.  Its Lake Course is the best-known of the club's three golf courses.  The course is located overlooking Lake Merced in the western part of the city.  Ranked #33 in the influential Golf Digest ranking of the top 100 USA courses, the course hosted the US Open Golf Championship in 2012.  You can see this famous course from above in this drone video by caldroneflyer, which was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2.  

Here's a nice aerial view of Levi's Stadium in south San Francisco Bay, compliments of contributor caldroneflyer.  Opened in 2014, the 68,500 seat stadium is the home of the San Francisco 49ers, one of the most storied teams in the National Football League.  It's located in the town of Santa Clara, just north of San Jose.  The stadium replaced Candlestick Park just south of the city of San Francisco, which had also been the home of the San Francisco Giants Major League Baseball team until 2000.  

Contributor and pilot travispacheco created this absolutely stunning drone video from a beach just north of San Francisco, California.  It's called Rodeo Beach, and it's located in Marin County just north of the Golden Gate Bridge.  It's part of the 80,000 acre Golden Gate National Recreation Area.  Backed by magnificent looking cliffs, the beach is visually compelling but dangerous for swimmers due to strong currents and the risks (albeit remote) of sharks in the Pacific Ocean waters here.  

While Micosoft maintains its corporate headquarters in Seattle, Washington, the software giant also maintains a considerable presence in California's Silicon Valley, just south of San Francisco.  Microsoft's new Silicon Valley campus is located just off Highway 101 in Mountain View, just a couple of mi./km southeast of the Google headquarters campus and a bit longer distance north of Apple's headquarters in Cupertino.  In this outstanding video by top contributor FrameworkFilms, you'll get an aerial/ground tour of the Microsoft facility.  

In this first person view (FPV) video, InspireFPV takes on the skyscrapers of Oakland, California, the principal city on the eastern side of San Francisco Bay.  While the city has always been in the shadow of its better known neighbor across the San Francisco Bay, Oakland is a major city in its own right - with a population of over 400k, it's California's seventh largest city.    In addition to being home to Northern California's largest port, the city now has nearly a dozen buildings over 100 meters (around 330 ft.).  

The virtual shutdown of San Francisco by the Covid-19 pandemic in March of 2020 created eerie sights across the great city, scenes which would have been unaminaginable even a few weeks before "social distancing" became the worldwide watchword.  Flying in isolation, drone pilots were able to film some of the city's landmarks which would ordinarily be overrun by visitors.  Case in point is this first person view (FPV) piece by InspireFPV; he was able to use a racing drone to film the historic Ferry Building on the Embarcadero.

Check out these stunning drone views of a spot California's Pacific coastline just south of San Francisco, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot splineglass.  It's the stretch of coastline near the town of Montara, and it's located just 20 mi. (around 32 km) south of the San Francisco city limits in San Mateo County.  The area is marked by a (now abandoned) World War II era bunker.  The stretch of coastline is overlooked by Montara Mountain, which has a peak elevation of about 1.9k ft. above sea level (around 580 m).  

San Francisco is generally considered America's most beautiful city, and in this drone video by Grigori6032 you'll see why.  It opens with a shot of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, filmed from the perspective of Treasure Island.  Then it's over to the Financial District for some great views of the skyline, with the new Salesforce Tower - now the tallest building on the West Coast - looming over all.  Other featured spots include Ghirardelli Square, Pier 39, the Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz island, and more.  

Some of the most distinctive architectural sights in San Francisco are its "Painted Ladies" Victorian houses, which were repainted in the 1960s. While the phenomenon is not limited to San Francisco, it has a special connection to the city: the term was coined in the 1978 book 'Painted Ladies: San Francisco's Resplendent Victorians.'  In this FPV Pilots to Watch video by top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot InspireFPV, you'll fly through one of the Painted Ladies, which was the setting for the TV sitcom "Full House."  

Contributor and drone pilot Grigori6032 brings us this excellent aerial video covering two of the top destinations in San Francisco, California.  The first is the 19th century sailing ship Balcutha, which is a US historical landmark and is part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.  The second is Ghirardelli Square, a historical public square just south of the waterfront.  Dating to the 1890's, the one-time headquarters of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company now houses specialty shops and restaurants.  

Point Bonita is a narrow peninsula situated at the northern entrance to the Golden Gate, the strait which connects the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay and which is spanned by its namesake bridge.  The point's namesake lighthouse has long played an important role as a navigation aid to ship traffic in and out of the bay.  Seen here in this drone video by splineglass, Point Bonita Lighthouse was first lit in 1877, replacing an earlier version built in the 1850's.  Automated since 1980, it was California's last manned lighthouse.  

The San Francisco Bay area requires a complex transportation system to move its estimated population of over 8 million around a region which is centered on a large body of water and nearly surrounded by hills and mountains.  Whether it's the hundreds of km/mi of major highways, gigantic bridges, thousands of arterial routes, or the BART subway which runs underneath the bay, it's all brought to life in this fantastic drone video by new AirVuz contributor elstevedore, which features some excellent top-downs and dronelapses.

Check out these magnificent drone views of a sunrise in Downtown San Francisco, California by contributor hankstahlecker.  The video opens with a shot looking east towards the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, followed by a shot of Salesforce Tower, which dominates the skyline of the Financial District.  At the :10 mark, you'll see the iconic Transamerica Pyramid, which had a 45+ year run as the city's tallest skyscraper, and at :37 there's a nice shoot looking directly towards the sun showing the Bay Bridge from a different angle.  

By virtue of space constraints, building restrictions, and the ever-present allure of living in the Bay Area, San Francisco, California is perennially among the most expensive real estate markets in the United States.  With seemingly ever-rising home prices, the City by the Bay has become a magnet for the ultra-rich who are not put off by sky-high prices.  In this video, top contributor and pilot Douglas Thron used a drone to help create a promotional video for a high-end penthouse condominium in the heart of the city.  

Muir Beach is one of the natural treasures of the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California.  It's located a little over 15 mi. (about 25 km) northwest of San Francisco, in Marin County.  Seen here in this excellent aerial video by brand-new AirVuz contributor and drone pilot dronebyddodell, the beach is about 1k ft. long (around 1.6k m) and is located just a few mi./km from the ever-popular Muir Woods.  The video was shot from the overlook above the beach during the beautiful sunset hour.  

Check out this terrific drone video from the hills of Contra Costa County in the northeastern part of the Bay Area of Northern California.  The county runs along the south side the Sacramento River north and east of Oakland.  The southern and eastern parts of the county are quite hilly, and home to some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the region.  The highest of these hills is Mt. Diablo, which is due east of Berkeley and which reaches an altitude of about 1.17k meters above sea level (around 3.8k ft.).  

Check out this beautiful 4K drone video of a sunrise over the great city of San Francisco, California, compliments of HD Pros.  The video begins with a beautiful shot of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, viewed looking south from the Embarcadero area.  Then it shifts to a westward-facing view of the Financial District, including a nice shot of the new Salesforce Tower.  It ends with a nice shot of a ferry (presumably coming from Marin County) heading into the San Francisco Ferry Terminal building.  

The San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge is the proverbial "glue" which holds the Bay Area of Northern California together.  Spanning between San Francisco and Oakland, the bridge has a total length of 7.2 km or just under 4.5 mi.   When the 1989 earthquake demonstrated the bridge's structural weakness, the western side of the bridge was retrofitted while the eastern span between Treasure Island and Oakland was replaced at a staggering cost of $6.5 billion.  Check out the modern wonder from above in this drone video by Grigori6032.

Contributor and pilot nickandrew25 used a DJI Mavic Pro drone and some nice editing techniques to create this very creative aerial of Oakland, California. The city sits to the east of San Francisco, on the opposite side of the bay.  Most of the video was shot along the Oakland waterfront, which extends southward from the eastern terminus of the SAn Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge.  In addition to being a major Bay Area population center, Oakland is also home to what is now the area's largest seaport.  

Check out this stunning drone video of Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot splineglass.  Originally used as a fortress, the island went on to become a prison - first for military prisoners beginning in the Civil War, and later as a famously high security federal penitentiary which closed in 1963.  Alcatraz later appeared in a number of movies, including Catch Me if You Can (2002), the Rock (1996), Escape from Alcatraz (1979), and more.  The island is operated by the National Park Service.
