Bay Bridge, Towering Beauty

The San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge is the proverbial "glue" which holds the Bay Area of Northern California together.  Spanning between San Francisco and Oakland, the bridge has a total length of 7.2 km or just under 4.5 mi.   When the 1989 earthquake demonstrated the bridge's structural weakness, the western side of the bridge was retrofitted while the eastern span between Treasure Island and Oakland was replaced at a staggering cost of $6.5 billion.  Check out the modern wonder from above in this drone video by Grigori6032.
