Aerial Views of Seattle

Take bird's eye tour of Seattle, Washington in this drone video compilation, which was drawn from some of the best footage in the "Aerial Views of Seattle" collection.  You'll be treated to epic aerial views of the city's waterfront, its downtowan skyscrapers, the Space Needle, and more.

Seattle, Washington is the principal city of the USA's Pacific Northwest, and it is one of the 15 largest metro areas in the United States.  In this short but impressive video, contributor David Yip gives us an aerial tour of the Seattle waterfront on Puget Sound, specifically its Elliot Bay.  The video opens with a shot of the Space Needle (north of downtown), then moving to the Seattle Great Wheel and the skyline lined up impressively behind it.  The latter is the largest Ferris Wheel on the USA's West Coast.  

Check out these fantastic drone views of the great city of Seattle, Washington by contributor infinity films.  The video opens with a shot looking west over the historic waterfront towards the city's skyline, followed by a shot looking at the same area from the north.  Then it's on to the Seattle Great Wheel at Pier 57, followed by some great shots looking south toward the Space Needle and beyond it the downtown skyscrapers.  Other featured locations include T-Mobile Field and the adjacent Century Link Field, Gas Works Park, and more. 

In this video, AirVuz contributor SkyStudioWest gives us some dramatic dronelapse views of Seattle, Washington at Christmastime.  Starting at the :05 mark, there's a great shot of the 1960's era Space Needle and south of it the modern downtown Seattle skyline; following that there's an excellent shot looking down Puget Sound from further north towards the city, and beyond it the snowy peak of Mt. Rainier.   Other shots feature the suburbs of Sammamish and Issaquah, which lie to the east and southeast of the city, respectively.

Top AirVuz contributor mikereidphotography used a DJI Mavic Pro 3 drone to create this stunning sunset aerial view of the Space Needle of Seattle, Washington, one of the most iconic sites in the USA's Pacific Northwest.  The 600 ft. tall (185 m) observation tower, which is situated in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood on the northwestern outskirts of downtown, was built in connection with the 1962 Seattle World's Fair (aka the Century 21 Exposition).  At the time of construction, it was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River.

Tacoma, Washington is the sister city to Seattle, the more well known city which lies to its north, also on Puget Sound.  With a population of about 200,000, Tacoma is a substantial city in its own right, and actually is the older of the two.  It continues to be an important rail and shipping hub, which goes back to the days of the late 19th century when it was picked as the western terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad.  Check out Tacoma from a bird's eye perspective in this drone video.  

Take in these stunning aerial views of the skyline of Seattle, Washington, compliments of AirVuz contributor mikereidphotography.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, the video was shot looking south from Lake Union.  On the left, you'll see the Space Needle, the observation tower built in connection with the 1962 World's Fair.  To the left, you'll see the skyscrapers of downtown Seattle, which lies a bit to the south of the Space Needle.  The video was shot as the sun was just beginning to rise in the east.  

For his third upload to AirVuz, top first person view (FPV) pilot jafomin brings us this spectacular FPV tour of the great city of Seattle, Washington.  With his outstanding flying and editing skills, the video will give you a unique perspective of the great Northwestern metropolis.   You'll cruise along the monorail line, weave between some buildings, and dive the iconic-looking Seattle Westin tower.  And that's just in the first minute.  Well worth a watch, this video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in March, 2021.  

AirVuz own tylerjmason used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this fantastic aerial video of downtown Seattle, Washington.  The video alternates between two of the best perspectives of the city: (1) towards the Space Needle (which lies just north of downtown) facing northeast, with Union Lake in the background; and (2) from a vantage point north of the center city looking south towards the Space Needle, with the skyline of the core downtown area behind it and Puget sound to the right (west).  

Check out this fantastic sunset drone video from Seattle, Washington by AirVuz contributor and pilot mykdol.  The video features excellent aerial views of the city's impressive skyline and its waterfront on Puget sound.  The "star" of the show is city's tallest skyscraper: the 76 story Columbia Center, which has a roof height of 286 meters or 937 ft.  When it opened in 1985 (then named Columbia Seafirst Center), it was the tallest building on the US West Coast.  As of 2020, it remains the tallest skyscraper in the Pacific Northwest.

Check out this excellent drone video of Seattle's Gas Works Park, compliments of contributor jay hicks.  The former site of a coal gasification plant, it sits on the north side of Union Lake, a bit north of downtown.  The park has retained elements of the original plant, which was one of the last coal gas plants in the USA and is considered a historical site.  The park has been used as a movie filming location, and was twice featured on the reality TV series The Amazing Race.  

Founded less than three decades ago, Amazon is amongst the 2-3 most valuable companies on the planet.  Its meteoric rise has been instrumental in propelling its hometown of Seattle, Washington into the ranks of the country's most prosperous cities.  Perhaps the most visible symbol of the company's presence is the Amazon Spheres, three globe-shaped domes located on the headquarters campus in the North Denny neighborhood.  See them from above in this drone video by CineFlight.    

After Puget Sound, Lake Washington is the most prominent geographical feature of the Seattle-Tacoma Metropolitan Area.  With a surface area of almost 90 square km (just under 35 square mi.), it's the second largest lake in the state.  Since the construction of the Lake Washington Ship Canal in 1934, the lake has been connected directly to Puget Sound and thence to the Pacific Ocean.  You can check out the lake from a bird's eye perspective in this drone video by Loren_Anderson.  

Check out this brilliant drone video of Puget Sound, the large body of water in western Washington in the USA's Pacific Northwest.  The video opens with an epic shot of downtown Seattle, which lies on the eastern shore of the sound, on a sort of inlet called Elliott Bay. You'll also see some shots of some of the Sound's hundreds of small inlets.  At about the :30 mark, there is a fantastic shot of the Sound with Mt. Rainier looming in the background; the volcanic mountain is the highest in the Cascades range.  

Here is an amazing aerial view of a large ship being towed into one of the USA's busiest ports.  The vessel is a containership operated by Evergreen Marine, a large Taiwanese shipping company which operates about 150 of these behemoths.  The ship is being towed into the Port of Tacoma, which lies south of Seattle on Washington's Puget Sound.  The ports of Tacoma and Seattle merged their operations in 2015 to form the Northwest Seaport Alliance, which is now the fourth-busiest container port in the United States.

Check out this excellent 4k drone video of the twin-span Tacoma Narrows Bridge near Seattle, Washington, compliments of contributor cward360.  The older of the two bridges over the Puget Sound strait was completed in 1950, replacing the infamous Galloping Gertie bridge which collapsed within six months of opening in 1940.  Its main span of 853 meters (about 2.8k ft.) made it the world's third-longest suspension bridge when it opened.  The newer span opened in 2007 and now handles eastbound traffic. 

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor mykdol brings us this excellent drone video of Bellevue, Washington.  Bellevue lies on the eastern side of Lake Washington, opposite Seattle.  It was largely a rural area until the 1940's, when it became connected to Seattle via a floating bridge over the lake; a second bridge was added in the 1950's.  With a current population nearing 150k, it's the third-largest city in the Seattle-Tacoma Metropolitan Area, the 15th largest in the USA as of 2020.  

It was a rare snow day in Seattle - the city gets a lot of rain, but not a ton of snow like in Maine or Minnesota - so the folks over at Autel Robotics decided to take their EVO drone out to play in the picturesque landscapes of Seattle's outlying areas, where the urban quickly transitions to rural. From steamy rivers, to snow-covered trees and frozen waterfalls, frosty landscapes and more, the EVO grabs the colors and negative space provided by the area’s rare snow storm.

AirVuz contributor infinity films brings us this excellent drone video flyover of the quadrangle of the University of Washington campus in Seattle. Located in the city's University District, northeast of Lake Union, the public university was founded in 1861.  Its student body of a bit under 50k is roughly two-thirds undergraduate, with the remainder spread across dozens of graduate and professional schools.  A major research institution, the school is also an athletic powerhouse and a member of the Pac 10 college sports conference.

AirVuz contributor mikereidphotography used an Autel Evo 2 drone to create this stunning twilight-hour aerial video of Seattle, Washington.  Starting at about the :19 mark, there's a spectacular shot of the Seattle Great Wheel at Pier 57, on the city;s Elliott Bay waterfront; when opened in 2012, it was the tallest Ferris Wheel on the USA's West Coast.  At around the 1:00 mark, there's a great pullback shot of the downtown skyscrapers; the tall black building on the right is 76 story Columbia Center, the city's tallest building.   

Contributor Yi Jun Luo created this excellent drone pull-out shot of the waterfront of Seattle, Washington.  Facing the city's skyline to the west from Puget Sound, the video will give you a nice views of the city's tallest building as of 2019 - the 76 story Columbia Center, which stands 286 meters or 937 ft. (right).  On the left you will see the under-construction Ranier Square Tower, which topped out in 2018 as Seattle second-tallest skyscraper at 259 meters or 849 ft., and 1201 Third Avenue, the third-tallest.

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot mikereidphotography used a Zenmuse X7 camera mounted to a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create this stunning golden hour aerial view of the great city of Seattle, Washington.  The video was shot from the perspective of Harbor Island, an artificial island at the mouth of the Duwamish River, on the south side of Elliott Bay.  The shot faces the city's skyline to the northeast, while in the foreground you'll see some container shipping facilities which are operated by the Port of Seattle.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of the waterfront of Everett, Washington, compliments of AirVuz contributor SkyStudioWest.  Located about 40 km (25 mi.) north of downtown Seattle, Everett is one of the largest of the Seattle suburbs.  It is situated on Possession Sound, an inlet of the larger Puget Sound.  The video features footage of the Everett Marina, as well as Jetty Island.  The latter is a man-made island, which is about three km long (two mi.) and is uninhabited; it was created with dredging from the Snohomish River.   

The Tacoma Dome is one of the more recognizable landmarks in Seattle's "sister" city.  Opened in 1983, the arena is used for concerts, indoor soccer, American football, basketball, and hockey.  During the 1990's, the Dome was the home court of the Seattle Supersonics of the National Basketball Association while the Seattle Center Coliseum was being renovated.  Seen in this drone video by Yi Jun Luo, the Dome has a seating capacity which ranges up to about 21k for spectator games.  

Take in these stunning drone views of Puget Sound, Washington, in this fantastic drone video by AirVuz contributor mykdol.  The video was shot from the area around Yacht Club Park on Dune Peninsula in Tacoma, Seattle's "sister" city which lies near the southern end of Puget Sound.  Dune Peninsula is an appendix of the larger peninsula of Point Defiance at the western mouth of Commencement Bay, at the head of which lies the Tacoma Harbor.  The video features some outstanding views of Mt. Rainier, about a 90 minute drive southeast of Tacoma. 

Check out this adrenaline-filled first person view (FPV) drone diving video from the famous Space Needle in Seattle, Washington, compiments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Shamkhal_fpv.  The 605 ft. (184 m) observation tower was built for the 1962 World's Fair; at the time, it was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River.  It remains one of the most recognized landmarks in this Pacific Northwestern city even as its height has been eclipsed by over a dozen skyscrapers in the adjacent Downtown district.  

While Puget Sound is best known for its two main cities, Seattle and Tacoma, the body of water in western Washington is home to numerous towns.  Many of these smaller communities began as independent villages and fishing ports, but have been absorbed into the Seattle Tacoma Metropolitan Area.  Here's a drone video of one of these communities by contributor shkundas.  Poulsbo lies on an inlet in the western side of the sound, northwest of downtown Seattle.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, skymotion brings us this fantastic aerial tour of the waterfront of Seattle, Washington. The area filmed is known as the "inner harbor", and it's the historic core of the largest city in the USA's Pacific Northwest region. Chosen as a DVOW Finalist, the video features footage of the Seattle Great Wheel (a giant Ferris wheel at Pier 57), the Seattle Aquarium, the skyscrapers which lie just east of the waterfront, and the more modern port facilities which lie just to the south of the core downtown.

One of the things making Seattle, Washington such an attractive area is the wealth of outdoor spots around the bustling metro.  Here can be found an array of vegetation including Douglas fir, hemlock, western red cedar and ponderosa pine trees. The vibrant colors and variety of lush plants make it the perfect backdrop for any drone flight. Witness this piece by Autel Robotics, who put their EVO to good use creating a memorable portrait of the area's nature. 

Contributor cward360 created this awesome video of some orca's (aka killer whales) feeding in the waters of Puget Sound in Washington State, part of the USA's Pacific Northwest.  They were filmed in Henderson Bay, an inlet of the sound near Gig Harbor. If you look at a map of the area it's a wonder that these creatures can navigate the convoluted waterways in the area; just making it to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge near the southern end of the sound looks complicated enough and the waterways narrow even further from there!
