Drone Videos of Turkey's Aegean Region

Contributor jesus_tr created this amazing drone video of the İzmir Bird Paradise, located on the Çiğli Çamaltı Salt Marsh northwest of the city of İzmir, Turkey.  It's a bird sanctuary that is home to nearly 300 feathered species, including Flamingos, Dalmatian Pelicans, Small White Herons, Grey Herons, Storks, Reed Harries, Kestrels, Eurasian Coots, House Swallows, Rural Swallows, Sparrows, Magpies, Rural Pipits, Kingfishers, Poyraz Birds, Eurasian Thick-knees, Silver Seagulls, Little Terns, and more.

Aizanoi is an ancient city in the Kütahya province of western Turkey.  The city was built by the ancient Greeks and continued to be an important administrative center well into Roman times.  Due to its well preserved ruins of a temple and a stadium complex, the city has been submitted to UNESCO for designation as a World Heritage site.  In this Drone Video of the Week nominee, top contributor and pilot Iskenderfilm gives us a bird's eye view of this ancient city, which sits on the Penkalas River.

Find relaxation and inspiration in this beautiful video of Turkey's Lake Bafa Nature Park by contributor and drone pilot tntrmedia. Lake Bafa is a lake and nature reserve in southwestern Turkey; centuries ago the lake was a gulf of the Aegean Sea until the passage was gradually closed. The southern shore is near a highway that can take travelers from town to town, while the northern shore of the lake is bordered by steep slopes covered with wild olive trees. This video was a DVOW finalist in October, 2019.

Check out these drone views of a resort town in southwestern Turkey, compliments of AirVuz contributor Yekalay.  The town of Datça is situated on the southern side of its namesake peninsula in the Muğla Province, on the Aegean Sea.  Inhabited since the Antiquity, it's located in the heart of Turkey's sailing region, considered one of the best in the world.  It's considered part of the Turkish Riviera, which includes the southern part of Turkey's Aegean Sea coastline and the western part of its Mediterranean coastline.  

Contributor jesus_tr created this beautiful drone video from one of the most recognized landmarks in İzmir, Turkey's third-largest city and the largest in its Aegean region.  The tower is located in the city's Konak district, the core of its downtown zone.  Standing 25 meters (just over 80 ft.) tall, the tower was completed at the turn of the 20th century to commemorate the silver jubilee of the reigning Ottoman Emperor.  It was a gift from Germany's Kaiser Wilhelm II, who was pursuing a policy of alignment with Turkey.  

Here's a fantastic aerial view of one of the most important ancient ruins sights in Turkey, compliments of top contributor jesus_tr.  It's from the ruins of the ancient city of Sardis in Manisa, one of the (inland) provinces which makes up the Aegean Region of western Turkey.  Sardis was said to be founded by the sons of Hercules.  Later it was the capital of the kingdom of Lydia, one of the most important of the Antiquity.  Still later, the great city earned frequent mention in the New Testament.  

During much of the Antiquity, the city of Ephesus in what is now western Turkey was one of the half-dozen most important cities in the world outside of China and India.  Abandoned since around the time that Constantinople fell to the Ottomans, its remains sit outside of Selçuk in Turkey's İzmir Province.  In this drone video by jesus_tr, you'll get an aerial view of these famous ruins, as well as those of the nearby House of the Virgin Mary, believed by many to be the final home of the mother of Jesus.

Check out this stunning drone video of Turkey's Ölüdeniz Lagoon, compliments of AirVuz contributor agrippa907th.  It's located near the town of Fethiye in Muğla, the province which covers the southwestern "corner" of the country.  The lagoon, which is known for its crystal-clear blue waters, is mostly surrounded by a national park.  The video also features some great shots of the beach at the opening of the lagoon (which is connected here to the Aegean Sea); the beach was recently ranked #2 in a Travelzoo survey of the world's best beaches.  

Content creator and pilot Pascha used a drone to capture some epic kitesurfing action off the coast of Western Turkey.  Ayvalik is a coastal town in the Balıkesir Province on the Aegean Sea, on the northern end of the country's Aegean Region.  It's surrounded by a number of smaller islands.  As you'll see in the video, the area has caught the attention of the world's kitesurfers.  Prepare to be amazed not only by the kitesurfing but the incredible camera work capturing these fast-moving targets! 

Contributor and pilot Ozzy0512 created this beautiful drone video of the Turkish Aegean Sea coast in the area of the resort town of Bodrum.  Bodrum, which is part of the Muğla Province of southwestern Turkey, is home to some of Turkey's greatest cultural treasurers.  The area has been inhabited for many millennia and was the site of the Tomb of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.  Nowadays, Bodrum is probably at least as well known being home to some of the world's best sailing waters.  

Check out this stunning drone video of southwestern Turkey, compliments of content creator and drone pilot fatihyedikardes.  It was shot on the Aegean Sea coastline of Muğla, one of the provinces which makes up Turkey's Aegean Region.  The province is home to some of the country's top beach destinations.  In addition to its spectacular beaches, the province features a treasure trove of ancient ruins.  For example, at about the :40 mark in the video, you'll see the famous Tomb of Amyntas in the city of Fethiye. 

Izmir is the largest city in Turkey's Aegean region and the third largest city in the country overall.   Among other roles, Izmir has emerged as the center of Turkey's sailing scene, which is one of the largest and most important in the world.  Contributor and pilot Burak BÜYÜKBAYRAKT used a drone to film the Arkas sailing race, which is held off the city's coastline every year.  It's a major event in the sailing world, and his video does an outstanding job of capturing the excitement which surrounds the competition.

Alaçatı is considered one of the most traditional well preserved towns in western Turkey.  It is situated near the arrow-shaped western tip of the Çeşme Peninsula, a large extension of mainland Turkey into the Aegean Sea.  Alaçatı is near the heart of the substantial Turkish yachting scene which lines its western (Aegean) coastline, and its marina is one of the most well known in the region.  You can check out this beautiful Turkish port town from above in this drone video from contributor Afterfifty50.

Contributor Aykut Akyuz created this beautiful drone video of an ancient ruins site in southwestern Turkey.  Pedasa was a city in the historical region of Caria, which covered a portion of Western Anatolia (now, the Aegean Region of Turkey).  The site is near the modern-day town of  Gökçeler, in the Muğla Province which covers the southwestern "corner" of Turkey.  Pedasa was one of the cities which rebelled against the ruling Persian Empire during the Ionian Revolt of the 5th century BC. 

Western Turkey has long been closely connected with the world of sailing; some of the world's best sailing waters lie off its Aegean Sea coastline.  In recent decades, the same conditions have led to a very large windsurfing culture.  The steady winds and generally calm but always beautiful torquoise waters represent ideal conditions for windsurfers.  And so they have come.  In this video, you'll get a bird's eye view of Alacati, one of the epicenters of the Aegean Turkey windsurfing scene.  

Contributor Elci Creative created this epic drone video of a massive celebration of a Turkish football team in the Guztepe section of the city of Izmir.  Izmir is situated in the middle of the Aegean coast of western Turkey, and is the capital of the province of the same name.  It is the third largest city in the country, after Istanbul and the capital city Ankara.  As you will appreciate from this video, the football fans of Guztepe LOVE their professional team; this celebration included 1 million flares!

Check out this beautiful aerial tour of a trio of spots along the Turkish Riviera coastline on the Aegean Sea, compliments of contributor Barak Arslan.  All three lie on the Datça Peninsula, which extends out from the Muğla Province.  The first two spots (Marmaris and İçmeler) lie towards the base of the peninsula, while the third (Datça) lies about halfway out its length.  The Turkish Riviera isn't precisely defined but generally includes the southern Aegean and western Mediterranean coastlines.  

Turkish aerial videographer and contributor Alp Karagulle brought his drone to the ancient Greek city of Ephesus which is located a few km inland from Turkey's Aegean Sea coast, in the İzmir Province. The city, which was built in the 10th century BC, is one of the world's most well-preserved ancient metropolises.  One of the top tourist destinations in Turkey's Aegean Region, Ephesus is particularly known for being the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.  

Hapimag Resort Bodrum is an upscale vacation getaway on Turkey's famed Aegean Sea coastline. The unique venue, which can be seen in this drone video by contributor and pilot  dronesantana007, boasts 5 pools, 3 beaches, 12 restaurants, and even a little village for guests nestled between the turqoise waters of the Aegean Sea and an evergreen pine grove. Bodrum is one of the prime beach towns in Turkey's Aegean Region; it's situated in the province of Muğla near the southwestern "corner" of the country.  

In this mesmerizing video, contributor and pilot Alp Karagulle  managed to use a drone to film a rather large group of flamingoes on a glass-smooth body of water near Izmir, the third-largest city in Turkey (after Istanbul and Ankara) and the largest in its Aegean (western) Region.  Flamingoes are wading birds which are found natively around South America, Africa, and the Middle East.  The aerial footage of these graceful creatures flying over the reflective and glass-smooth water is truly epic! 

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Murat Turna brings us this excellent aerial view from the area around the resort town of Fethiye in the Muğla Province of southwestern Turkey.  Like much of the Aegean coast of present-day Turkey, Muğla was colonized by Greeks during the Antiquity; Fethiye was built on the ancient Greek city of Telmessos, the largest city in the ancient kingdom of Lycia.  The video features footage of the Tomb of Amyntas, which dates to 350 BC, the town of Kaya, and the village of Mezarları.  

Check out this stunning drone video of a port village on Turkey's western (Aegean Sea) coast, compliments of content creator and drone pilot secoko.  THe town is called Göcek, and it's situated in the Muğla Province near the better-known town of Fethiye, near the southwestern "corner" of the country.  The town, which features prominently in the ancient Greek legend of Icarus, is now associated with yachting.  It is home to six marina's and is in the heart of Turkey's "yachting country".  

The geography of western Turkey is distinguished by a series of peninsulas which jut out westwards into the Aegean Sea. The best known of these is the Çeşme Peninsula, which sits just south of the city of İzmir.  In this video by contributor and pilot tahiragaoglu, you'll get a bird's eye view of the Datça Peninsula, which lies well to the south of its more well known "cousin".  Also called the Reşadiye Peninsula, it extends about 80 km (around 50 mi.) from the "mainland" in the Muğla Province.  

Here's an amazing aerial view of some stunning rock formations in western Turkey, compliments of top contributor jesus_tr.  It's called Yanıkyöre (translated, "burnt land"), and it's a family of volcanic cones near the town of Kula in the Manisa Province.  Once virtually unknown, the area has been "discovered" recently and is increasingly seen as a western (Turkey) version of the famous Cappadocia chimneys in Central Anatolia.  The area is now part of a geopark which has been certified by UNESCO.  

Check out this beautiful drone video from a prominent landmass known as the Çeşme Peninsula in western Turkey, compliments of Burak BÜYÜKBAYRAKTAR.  The giant appendage to the mainland juts out westward into the Aegean Sea just south of the city of İzmir, Turkey's third-largest city and the largest in its Aegean Region.  The spot in the video is near the town of Demircili Koyu.  It's situated in the Urla District, on the southern end of an isthmus which connects the eastern and western ends of the great peninsula.  

Contributor and drone pilot Alp Karagulle created this awesome aerial of one of the world's most well known outdoor train museums.  The Çamlık Railway Museum is located near Izmir, Turkey's third largest city and the largest in its Aegean (western) region.  It maintains one of the largest collections of steam trains in the world.  About half of the museum's locomotives are exhibited in a turntable.  The museum's collection includes a locomotive which was involved in Turkey's deadliest train accident, in 1957.

Check out this stunning drone video from southwestern Turkey, compliments of content creator and pilot Oset Medya.  It was shot with a DJI Inspire 1 drone.  Dalyan is a small town in the Muğla Province, near the southwesternn "corner" of Turkey.  The town was the center of a controversy in the 1980's when developers proposed a resort that would have impinged on the breeding ground for a rare type of sea turtle.  The project was eventually shelved following an international outcry, and the area is now protected under Turkish law.  

AirVuz conributor trollek74 brings us his outstanding drone video of the land of ancient Lydia, a historical region which occupied a portion of what is now western Turkey.  Lydia existed as an independent kingdom from around 1200 BC until 546 BC, at which point it was absorbed into the Achaemenid Empire.  At its height, it included all of modern-day Turkey's Aegean coast and extended some ways inland.  Featured locations in the video include Kayakoy, Dalyan, Kanos, Turtle Beach, Gocek, Gokpel, Selimiye, Bozburun, Sogut, Bayir, and more.  

Check out this beautiful drone video from Narlıdere, a city on Turkey's western coastline.  The city sits on the north side of Karaburun, a giant peninsula which juts into the Aegean Sea.  It's located just to the west of İzmir, Turkey's third-largest city after Istanbul and Ankara. Narlıdere is considered part of Greater İzmir; it's one of the nine districts which make up the city.  The video was created by contributor and pilot mystnami, who used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to capture the aerial footage.  

Check out this fascinating drone video of an abandoned village in the hills of western Turkey, compliments of top AirVuz contributor jesus_tr.  It's called Kayaköy, and it's just a few km/mi from the town of Fethiye in the Muğla Province.  Much of the town was built in the 18th century, and it had a population of about 6k at the beginning of 20th century.  During the ethnic violence that erupted during and immediately after World War I, the town was completely abandoned.  It remains what you see today - a ghost town.

Check out these drone views from the fabled resort town of Marmaris, Turkey, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot romanblats.  Marmaris is situated on the Mediterranean coast in the province of Muğla, in the southwestern part of the country.  It lies in the heart of the stretch of Aegean and Mediterranean Sea coastline that has become known as the Turkish Riviera, home to one of the world's top sailing scenes.  Little more than a sleepy fishing village prior to the 1980's, Marmaris attracts well over two million visitors per year.  

Top contributor jesus_tr created this excellent drone video of the celebration of İzmir Independence Day in Turkey's #3 city.  On September 9, 1922, the Turkish Army ejected the Greek forces that had been occupying what was called the Zone of Smyrna (a large portion of the modern-day Aegean Region) following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I.  The Turkish victory led to the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, which paved the way for international recognition of the Turkish Republic.

Check out these beautiful drone views of Turkey's Kabak Bay, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Finalist tntrmedia.  Kabak Bay is just south of the town of Fethiye in Muğla Province in the southwestern corner of the country.  It has the distinction of being one of the few undeveloped stretches on the Turkish Riviera, which extends for about 600 mi. (around 1k km) along the country's western (Aegean Sea) and southern (Mediterranean Sea) coastlines and is roughly centered on Fethiye.  

Check out this stunning drone video from a small town in the Muğla Province of southwestern Turkey, compliments of contributor and pilot TerranGoruntu.  It was shot around the town of Göcek, in the Fethiyet district of the province.  The ancient town is tied to the legend of Icarus; it's said he landed here after his famous flight.  Today, it's in the heart of the Torquoise Coast of modern-day Turkey and near the epicenter of the region's yachting scene, one of the most well-known in the world.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner iskenderfilm brings us this fantastic drone video of a well-known ancient hilltop fortification in western Turkey.  Afyonkarahisar Castle stands atop a 740 ft. (226 m) rock near its namesake city in Afyon, an inland province which is part of the country's Aegean Region.  The original structure here was built around 1350 BC on the orders of the Muršili II, King of the Hittite Empire.  It was  subsequently rebuilt several times, most recently under a Turkish government reconstruction.  

Turkey's Aegean Region has become one of the world's top spots for sailing and yachting, so it's perhaps not surprising that the area has also emerged as one of the world's hottest spots for kiteboarding (also known as kitesurfing).  The steady winds and relatively calm waters have captured the attention of the growing worldwide kitesurfing community, and if you watch this droone video by contributor secoko you'll see why.  It was shot off the coast of Alaçatı, on the north side of the Çeşme Peninsula.  

Check out this drone video of a fascinating spot in southwestern Turkey, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and pilot jesus_tr.  He put together a captioned and narrated aerial video of the area around Arapapisti Canyon.  Created by erosion from the Akçay River, the canyon is situated at the border between the Aydın, Muğla and Denizli Provinces, in the country's Aegean Region.  The video includes footage of numerous spots in and around the canyon, an area which has been inhabited for thousands of years.

Lake Bafa is located in southwestern Turkey and provides a basis for a variety of local industries, including tourism, fishing, and agriculture (including picturesque olive groves).  It sits across the provinces of Muğla and Aydın, both of which are part of the Aegean region.  Here, drone pilot Tntrmedia, leans on the warm hues of the lake's environs to showcase the beauty of the waterway both in twilight and midday, producing a video that was nominated for Drone Video of the Week in October 2018.

Check out this amazing drone videos of one of the best-preserved ancient stadiums, compliments of contributor IlkerCagatayAsik.  The stadium is part of the ruins of Aphrodisias, which was an ancient Greek settlement in western Turkey.  It's situated in the province of Aydin, one of the southernmost provinces which makes up the country's Aegean region.  It's believed that the stadium once seated 30,000 spectators; larger than the better-known stadium ruins at the stadium ruins of Delphi in Greece.

Check out this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone video from southwestern Turkey, compliments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Escape Fpv.  The video was filmed over and around the city of Denizli, which is part of the Aegean Region.  Denizli is located near the edge of a great plateau, where it gives way to the Taurus Mountains to the south.  The video, which was filmed as part of a promotion for the Turkish Drone Film Festival, was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in December of 2021.    

Check out this stunning drone video from the Aegean Sea coastline of western Turkey, compliments of contributor kastore25.  It was filmed around the town of Bademli, which lies on an inlet of the Aegean in the Dikili District of the İzmir Province, the most populous of Turkey's Aegean provinces.    Like so much of western Turkey, this area is extremely popular with boaters, of both the sailing and powered varieties.  The video does a terrific job of bringing out the deep blue colors of the Aegean waters.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist SkyBee brings us this excellent aerial video from a beautiful spot on the Turkish Riviera.  It's called Butterfly Valley, and it's located in the Fethiye District of Muğla, a province in the southwestern corner of the country, on the Aegean Sea.  The valley sits at the foot of Babadağ mountain, which has a peak elevation of around 6.5k ft. above sea level (just under 2k m).  The valley derives its name from the diverse range of butterfly species which can be found here.  

Ege is the Turkish word for "Aegean", and it refers specifically to the Aegean region of this great country.  The Aegean Region includes some of Turkey's most famous beach areas, as well as some spectacular scenes of natural beauty in the inland areas.  In this drone video by top contributor tntrmedia, you'll get a nice aerial overview of the Ege region.  It includes footage of some of the world's most popular sailing areas as well as the mountains, salt marshes, and other natural wonders of the Ege interior.  

In this piece by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist SkyBee, you'll journey to a group of small islands off the coast of Turkey.  They are called the Yassica Islands, and they are located in the Aegean Sea near the town of Fethiye, in the southwestern province of Muğla (not to be confused with a somewhat better-known island of the same name further north on the Aegean coastline, in the Gulf of İzmir).  The islands are about three mi. offshore from the Turkish mainland, or about 5.5 km.      

Western Turkey sits astride some of the most important bird migration routes in the Eastern Hemisphere.  That's because of its extensive wetlands and lakes that support countless feathered creatures as they make their seasonal journeys from Europe to Africa and back again.  In this drone video by contributor and pilot Burak BÜYÜKBAYRAKTAR, you'll get a marvelous view of a flock of flamingos in a bird sanctuary just west of İzmir, the largest city on Turkey's western (Aegean) coast.  

In this spectacular drone video by AirVuz contributor Serdar SEN, you'll follow a powered paraglider cruising through one of Turkey's largest cities.  He was able to film a VERY brave and obviously skilled pilot as he flew over and around the great port city of İzmir.  It's the country's third-largest city, after Istanbul and the capital city of Ankara.  Located on the Aegean Sea in western Turkey, İzmir is the home of the country's largest port.  As you'll see from the video, it's also developed a very modern-lookling skyline. 

Here's an excellent drone video of the hilltop acropolis of the ancient city of Tlos in western Turkey, compliments of AirVuz contributor yerlikaya.  Tlos is located near the (comparatively) modern town of Seydikemer in Muğla Province, which covers the southwestern corner of the country.  Tlos, which dates to at least 4,000 years ago, became one of the largest and most important cities within the proto-state of Lycia, which ruled over much of what is now southwestern Turkey during much of the Antiquity.  

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot 2binsekiz brings us this excellent aerial view of a beautiful spot on the Aegean Sea coastline of Turkey.  THe video was filmed in the area around the town of Mordoğan on the eastern side of the Karaburun Peninsula, which forms the western side of the Gulf of İzmir.  The Karaburun Peninsula is in turn a part of a larger landform known as the Urla-Karaburun-Çeşme Peninsula, which extends westward from the Turkish mainland near the gulf's namesake city, the largest urban area in Turkey's Aegean Region.   

Contributor and pilot Ezgierol used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create this magnificent video Lake Bafa, one of the most important lakes in Turkey.  The lake is part of the Bafa Lake Nature Preserve, which straddles the Muğla and Aydin Provinces of southwestern Turkey in the country's Aegean region.  Prior to the Classical Period, the lake was actually part of a gulf of the Aegean Sea.  You'll also see some epic aerial footage of the ruins of Herakleia, an ancient city which is an important cultural landmark of the region.

Turkey's western coast has emerged as one of the world's top beach and sailing destinations.  Much of the coastline consists of a series of peninsulas which jut out into the Aegean Sea, a large inlet of the Mediterranean.  In this drone video by AirVuz contributor AdemKaya87, you'll get an aerial view of this storied area.  The video features footage from the area around the town of Alaçatı on the Çeşme Peninsula west of İzmir; as well as from the beaches around Datça and Marmaris on another peninsula in the southern province of Muğla.

The Turkish Riviera is replete with high end lodging and resort options.  One of the best is the Cleopatra Beach resort.  Operated by Rixos, it's located near the town of Bodrum, which sits on the south side of the Bodrum Peninsula in the Muğla Province. A premium property, Cleopatra Beach offers secluded beach access and all manner of creature comforts.  It lies in the heart of the Turkish Riviera, which covers the southern part of the country's Aegean coastline and the western part of its Mediterranean coast.  

Kuşadası is one of the premiere resort towns on Turkey's Aegean coastline.  It's part of the Province of Aydın Province, a bit over an hour's drive south of the city of İzmir.  A major cruise ship port of call, one of its major attractions is the island-cum peninsula (via a narrow, 350 meter or 1.15k ft. causeway) called Güvercinada.  The island is home to a walled castle which dates to the 15th-16th centuries.  In this drone video by emreaybars, you'll get a bird's eye view of Kuşadası as well as its tiny islet. 

İzmir is Turkey's third largest city and the largest in its Aegean RegionThe city is situated on the Gulf of İzmir just north of Çeşme, a giant peninsula which extends westward into the Aegean Sea.  The city was known as Smyrna for centuries, its name changing only in 1930, shortly after the formation of the Turkish Republic.  It has long been one of the most important cities of the eastern Mediterranean Sea; only Athens (Greece) is larger and not by much.  It's also home to Turkey's busiest seaport.

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot IlkerCagatayAsik used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to film a beautiful spot in the southwestern corner of Turkey.  It's the Aegean Sea port town of Bodrum in the Muğla Province.  Bodrum lies in the heart of the Turkish Riviera, a stretch of coastline along the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas which has emerged as one of the world's top destinations for travelers seeking vacations involving beaches and/or boating (especially sailing).  The town of Bodrum lies on the south side of its namesake peninsula.   

Prepare to be blown away by this stunning drone video from one of Turkey's largest lakes, compliments of tntrmedia.  Bafa Lake is located in the southwestern part of the country, in the Muğla Province.  It's part of the Lake Bafa Nature Park, one of the largest parks in Turkey's Aegean region.  Bafa is a saltwater lake, and at one time was not a lake at all - until some time in the first millennium BC, it was a gulf in the Aegean Sea.  During that time, sediment from the Büyük Menderes River closed it off from the sea.

Top content creator and pilot jesus_tr created this phenomenal drone video of a containership off the coast of İzmir in western Turkey.  One of Turkey's oldest cities, İzmir has been one of the most important eastern Mediterranean ports for millennia.  Turkey's third-largest city and the largest in the country's (western) Aegean Region, it's also the home of the country's largest container port.  The city sits at the head of the Gulf of Izmir and features one of the region's finest natural harbors. 

See one of the most famous ghost towns in Turkey in this aerial piece by AirVuz contributor and drone pilot NGreyTravels. Kayaköy is an ancient town, formerly known as Karmilassos (Greek) that was evacuated in 1923. The town's history is deadly; much of the population was made up of Greek and Christian minorities in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. During and after the war, the townspeople had their land taken or were sent to labour camps. Any who didn’t die were later forced to leave. 

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist jesus_tr brings us this stunning drone video of a flock of pink and white flamingos flying over the İzmir Bird Paradise in western Turkey.  A national park, the bird sanctuary is located on the Çiğli Çamaltı Salt Marsh northwest of the city of İzmir.  Flamingos are just one of nearly 300 feathered species to be found here.  The wetlands of the Aegean region of Turkey play a vital role in the annual bird migrations between Europe and Africa.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mini 3 drone.  

Marmaris is one of the most well-known resort towns in southwestern Turkey.  Located on the Mediterranean coastline in the Muğla Province, Marmaris is close to the epicenter of the burgeoning sailing scene here.  Once a sleepy fishing village, the town was transformed by tourism over the past two decades.  It now has about 30k permanent residents, with a peak seasonal population of up to 400k.  In this excellent drone video by new AirVuz contributor dedefuat, you'll get a bird's eye view of this Mediterranean gem.  

Check out this drone video from the heart of the Turkish Riviera, compliments of AirVuz contributor mehmeterdem.  The video was filmed over and around Marmaris, a resort town at the base of the Datça Peninsula on the Aegean Sea in the Muğla Province, in the southwestern corner of the country.  The town lies in the middle of a roughly 600 mi. (1k km) stretch of Aegean and Mediterranean Sea coastline now known as the Turkish Riviera.  Marmaris is home to about 30k permanent residents, with a peak seasonal population of up to 400k.
