Butterfly Valley is a valley located within the borders of Ölüdeniz town, Fethiye district, Muğla province.[1] Butterfly Valley, located at the foot of Babadağ, one of the 100 mountains recommended to be protected as a world heritage due to its endemic species, was declared a first degree natural site on February 8, 1995 and was closed to all kinds of construction. Surrounded by steep rocky walls reaching 350 meters, the Valley takes its name from the more than 80 butterfly species it hosts, especially the tiger butterfly. The waterfall, whose source is in the Faralya neighborhood and falls from a height of 50 meters, reaches the Mediterranean through a stream passing through the middle of the valley. The unique geographical structure of the Butterfly Valley is the subject of research and laboratory studies by scientific circles, especially botanists and entomologists; It attracts the attention of national and international environmental organizations and ecological formations. Transportation to Butterfly Valley is provided by boats departing from Ölüdeniz. A path from Faralya (Uzunyurt) neighborhood reaches the Valley; However, due to the rope climbing routes and variable surface, it must be done with a guide. A facility was created in Butterfly Valley to protect natural life and to implement projects by taking the necessary precautions. Offering accommodation opportunities to visitors in tents and tree houses, the business has a daily capacity of 750 guests. Collector-photographer Rıfat Kılar was impressed by the valley butterflies in the late 70s and said that this place should be called "Butterfly Valley" and pronounced the name of the sheep known as "Giyorumsu" differently for the first time. His friend H. Deniz Bayramoğlu used this name in 1987 and started the business that gave birth to "Butterfly Valley".
