Set in the wine country of Italy's Tuscany region in the west-central part of the country, this dronie by contributor Druno is very unique for its epic "reveal". The video begins with a shot of the pilot sitting in a chair near a table.  Then it reveals his companion sitting on a couch pouring a glass of wine.  In one continuous shot, it flies out the window, providing a magnificent shot of the fabled Tuscan countryside.   This video was voted the winner in the Dronie category for the second annual Drone Video Awards. 

Get a unique perspective of the Italian city of Florence in this fantastic drone video by AirVuz contributor Alta Movie srl.  The video captures a group of hot air balloons as they float over the great Tuscan capital, the birthplace of the Renaissance.  The talented content creator was able to capture some epic shots of the balloons as they glide over some of Florence's most well-recognized spots, such as the Florence Cathedral, the Ponte Vecchio, and more.  This video was a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week in September, 2020. 

Top AirVuz contributor dron-e.it put together this fantastic piece in connection with the 2016 Peugeot Drone Film Festival in Tuscany, the fabled region of western Italy.  The video beautifully showcases the region, which lies north of Rome and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the west and the Apennine Mountains to the east.  You'll get bird's eye views of the region's famous rolling hills, its lakes, hilltop villages, internationally renowned vineyards, and even a (very picturesque) golf course.  

Golden Tuscany.  The very name of this drone video by contributor Skydrone evokes images the warm hues of this region of western Italy, a land of famous vineyards and wineries, brilliant Renaissance cities, and beautiful baronial estates.  The video features amazing bird's eye footage of some of Tuscany's most well-known sites, including Siena, Val D'Orcia, Montepulciano, Monteriggioni, Pienza,  and Volterra.  Enjoy the breathtaking bird's eye views of cyprus trees, and ancient seaside villages in this magnificent province.  

Elba is the largest and best known islands of Italy's Tuscany province.  It is part of a small archipelago which sits a short distance offshore of Piombino, between the Italian mainland and the (larger) French island Corsica to its west.  Contributor (and second annual Drone Video Award nominee) ZilverSchmitz took a drone on a trip to Elba, producing this amazing aerial look at this island, the location to which Napoleon Bonaparte was first exiled in 1814 prior to making his last stand at Waterloo.  

The Tuscan town of Pisa is known around the world for its leaning tower, a bell tower which was constructed in the 12th century on ground which turned out to be too soft.  Now stabilized (if still tilted), the Leaning Tower of Pisa is flanked by the rows of picturesque streets and charming red roofs.  The 57 meter (186 ft.) building has become one of Italy's most iconic sites.  Drone pilot Gianlo also used the perfect lighting of the setting sun to create a postcard like feel for this idyllic cityscape.

Mauro Pagliai is one of the top contributors in the AirVuz community, the Winner of several Drone Video of the Week/Month contests as well as a Drone Video Award Finalist.  In this outstanding piece, he follows some hot-air balloons over the legendary countryside of the Tuscany region of western Italy.  The video features some spectacular views of the Val d'Orcia and Chianti sub-regions, each of which is known for a distinctive type of wine.  The video includes some amazing first person view (FPV) footage.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor Panoramix brings us this stunning drone video from a famous marble quarry in western Italy.  The quarry is in the commune of Carrara in Massa and Carrara, the northernmost of the provinces which make up Italy's Tuscany region.  For centuries, this area has been known for its distinctive blue-grey marble.  The Carrara quarries were used to film part of the chase scene which opened the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace, the 24th of the series.

Tuscany has so much to offer in terms of its glorious cities and wineries that its mountains are sometimes overlooked.  That's a mistake though: the Apuan Alps in northern Tuscany offer some of the most spectacular natural sights in all of Italy.  They are considered a sub-range of the Apennine chain which runs down the "spine" of Italy; their highest peaks are just over 1.9k meters (around 4.4k ft.).  See them in this beautiful aerial video of the Apuans, compliments of contributor and drone pilot Mike24_ph.  

Contributor Lorenzo created this beautiful drone video of a an ancient town in Italy which may be credited with the invention of the pistol.  Pistoia is a small town in Tuscany, a half hour's drive from the great city of Florence.  The extraordinarily well preserved Pistoia was settled well before Christ and is believed to be the city from which the pistol gun originated in the 16th century.  Watch the video and you'll get an epic bird's eye view of the Piazza del Duomo in the city center of this cultural and historical gem.

Check out this stunning drone tour of Tuscany, considered by many to be the most beautiful region of Italy.  The video features some of the amazing natural scenery of this region, which extends from the Tyrrhenian Sea (part of the Mediterranean) in the west to the Apennine Mountains in the east.  It also features some shots of the cultural scenery of the region, including the great city of Florence.  Situated in the middle of the region, the Tuscan capital is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance.

Srls used a variety of drone-mounted and ground cameras to create this beautiful aerial portrait of Manciano, a town in west-central Italy.  It's in the province of Grosetto, the southernmost province of Italy's Tuscany region.  The area is known in part for a classical music festival which draws thousands of visitors.  The video was produced in order to highlight the extensive road and trail system available to bikers, who have discovered the beautiful rolling hills of the region.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Enrico Pescantini brings us this stunning drone video from two of Italy's famous "tuff" towns - settlements built into tuff, a stone made of volcanic ash which has solidified.  The near-adjacent towns are situated in Grosseto, the southernmost province of the region of Tuscany.  Sorano, the first town shown, is visually distinguished by its medieval fortress, while Pitigliano (distinguished by its tall bell tower) is known as Little Jerusalem due to its once significant Jewish population.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Alta Movie srl brings us this fantastic single-sequence drone shot of a famous church in the Tuscany region of Italy.  The church is the San Biagio, and it's located just outside of the hill town of Montepulciano in the province of Siena in southern Tuscany, about 75 mi (around 120 km) southeast of Florence.  The church was constructed in the Greek Renaissance style in the first half of the 16th century.  The video was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone. 

This drone video by contributor JB Meert will give you a great sense of the many notable places in the Tuscany region of Italy.  It features footage from four top spots in the region, which covers much of west-central Italy and is comprised of nine separate provinces: Florence, the regional capital; Siena, the capital of the province of the same name; Carrara, in the province of Massa and Carrara; Montecatini Terme, in the province of Pistoia; and Lucca, capital of the eponymously named province.  

Contributor Gioorig brings us this beautiful aerial view of an area called Chianti in the heart of Italy's Tuscany region.  It's a municipality that consists of several villages, three of which have "Chianti" as part of their name.  The area is in Siena, one of the southern provinces of the Tuscany region, roughly between the provincial capital Siena and the Tuscan capital city of Florence.  The area has been closely identified with winegrowing since at least the 13th century AD and possibly earlier.

Top AirVuz contributor T.E.S.T Srls brings us this fantastic drone video of Italy's  Maremma.  Maremma lies along the Tyrrhenian Sea, an inlet of the Mediterranean Sea which is framed by the Italian mainland and the islands of Sicily, Sardinia, and the French island of Corsica.  Most of Maremma lies within Grosseto, the southernmost province of Tuscany, while a smaller portion lies within the region of Lazio to the south.  One of Italy's top beach destinations, Maremma is also known in part for its unique breeds of cattle and horses.

Italy's Tuscany region is partially covered in mountains (the Apennine chain which runs down the "spine" of Italy) but it's probably better known for its hills.  The famous Tuscan rolling hills are an area of Tuscany which lies in the triangle formed by Florence, Siena, and Arezzo, between the mountains (to the east) and the sea (to the west).  Known as Chianti, it's also home to some of the world's most famous winegrowing areas.  Check out these beautiful hills from above in this drone video by contributor franllano.

Top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Chris Borg created this stunning wintertime video from the Tuscany region of Italy.  The footage was captured in the countryside of Siena, an interior province of this storied region of western Italy.  Siena is one of the most well-known of Italy's roughly 100 provinces, famous for its rolling hills and Renaissance era towns and villages.  The video captures the beauty of this fabled land, known around the world for the Chianti wine which is produced here.

The beauty of the Italian winter is quite clear in this stunning aerial video by Lorenzo. Shot in Sambuca Pistoiese in the west-central region known as Tuscany, the hills and valleys surrounding the historic town could not be more picturesque. The area is known for its mountains, flowing rivers, castles, and tranquil parish churches. It's situated in the province of Pistoia, one of the northernmost of the nine provinces (plus the metropolitan city of Florence) which make up the official region of Tuscany.   

Here's a stunning drone's-eye view from the fabled rolling hills of Italy's Tuscany region, compliments of top AirVuz contributor Fabel Movie Maker.  It was filmed in the Crete Senesi region of Siena, one of Tuscany's eastern provinces.  Located a bit to the south of the provincial capital, Crete Senesi is a transition region between the plains to the west and the Apennine Mountains to the east.  The region's name derives from its distinctive soil, whose gray coloration creates a landscape that some have compared to the moon's.  

Check out this awesome drone video from the mountains of Italy's Tuscany region, compliments of content creator Dani Massaro. The video was filmed around the town of Abetone in Pistoia, one of the northernmost of the ten provinces which make up the Tuscany region.  The terrain here is distinctly mountainous - it's in the Apennine Mountains, which form the border with the Emilia Romagna region to the north and east of Tuscany. The video also captures the beautiful Lago Piatto alpine lake.   

Check out this amazing drone video of a well-known landmark in Italy's Tuscany region, compliments of contributor Gioorig.  It's called the Cross of Pratomagno, and its sits atop one of the mountains of the Pratomagno masif in Arezzo, the easternmost of the provinces which make up Tuscany.  The iron cross, completed in 1928, sits atop the crest of the main mountain ridge. This masif, which is part of the Apennine Mountains range, has a peak elevation of just under 1.6k meters (about 5.3k ft.).   

Check out these beautiful aerial views of a well known valley in the Tuscany region of Italy, compliments of contributor Luca T.  The Val d'Orcia runs from the area south of Siena southwards to the lava dome of Monte Amiata, in the south-central part of the region.   A UNESCO World Heritage site known for its picturesque villages and wineries, the Val d' Orcia has been used to film numerous feature movies, including the English Patient (1996) and Gladiator (2000), and other somewhat less well-known titles.  

Here's a beautiful aerial view of a town in Italy's Tuscany region, compliments of Manutoni24. Pitigliano is located in the province of Grosetto, near the center of Tuscany.  Like most old Tuscan towns, Pitigliano was settled by the Etruscan Civilization which pre-dated the rise of Rome. It is known as Little Jerusalem for the Jewish community which has existed here for eons.  Since the 13th century, the town has been the capital of the surrounding county, and in the 15th century it came under the control of Sienna.  

Castel Falfi is one of the premiere lodging properties in the Tuscany region of western Italy.  Set in the fabled Tuscan rolling hills about an hour's drive southwest of Florence and a comparable distance northwest of Siena, the resort is built upon an 800 year old hilltop estate which was owned by the powerful Medici family.  Very nearly abandoned by the mid-20th century, the landmark was restored and is now one of Tuscany's five star accommodations.  The resort grounds feature over 50 acres of vineyards and over 9,000 olive trees.  

The famed rolling hills of Italy's Tuscany region have inspired artists for centuries and more recently have captured the attention of filmmakers.  Some of the most iconic scenery of this type is to be found in the Val d'Orcia, a valley which extends south of the town of Siena.  Seen here in this drone video by Alessandro_campo, the Val d'Orcia has been used as a filming location for over a half-dozen movies, including the English Patient (1996) and Gladiator (2000).  It's now part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Check out this drone video of a beautiful and very secluded beach on the Italian island of Elba, compliments of AirVuz contributor Marco Miele.  Fetovaia Beach is located on the southwestern side of the island, the largest of the islands of Italy's Tuscany region.  About 200 meters long (around 660 ft.), the beach is sheltered by the promontory known as Punta Fetovaia.   Protected from the winds, it's a perfect destination for those seeking to avoid beach crowds.  It's located about 10 km (around 6 mi.) from Marina di Campo.

The Italian province of Siena is famous for its medieval towns, churches, and baronial estates.  In this drone video by Travel and Drones, you'll be treated to aerial views of the following spots in Siena, one of the southern provinces of the region of Tuscany:  the walled medieval hill town of San Gimignano; the Abbey of Sant'Antimo in the village of Castelnuovo dell'Abate; the walled town of Monteriggione; the Benedictine Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore; the city of Siena; and the commune of Montalcino.

Check out this drone video of the Italian coastal town of Lucca, compliments of AirVuz contributor KingdroneVisuals.  Lucca is the capital of its namesake province, the second-northernmost of the nine provinces (not including the Metropolitan City of Florence) which make up the western region of Tuscany.  Located near the mouth of the River Serchio, the town was founded by the Etruscans, the civiliation which ruled the region prior to the rise of Rome.  Lucca is famous for its Renaissance era architecture and city walls.

AirVuz contributor Luca T. used his DJI Mavic Air to create this excellent drone video record of a weekend in Italy's Siena Province, in the southern part of Tuscany.  The first stop is San Gimignano, a town set in the hills which dates to the Middle Ages and whose town center is a UNESCO World Heritage site.  The next stop is Monteriggioni, a somewhat larger commune which was referenced in Dante's Divine Comedy.  Then it's on to the province's namesake capital city, followed by a final stop in San Quirico d'Orcia, a famous castle town.  

Top contributor T.E.S.T. Srls created this stunning drone video from Italy's Tuscan coastline.  It's an area called Maremma, which covers parts of southern Tuscany and parts of the northern Lazio region adjacent to them.  Situated on the Tyrrhenian Sea (considered an extension of the Mediterranean).  The area was once covered in marshland and almost inaccessible due to malaria, prior to the wetlands being drained in the 16th century.  That was then; now it's one of mainland Italy's top beach areas.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Enrico Pescantini brings us this excellent drone video of some of the most well-known castles of Italy's Lunigiana region, a historical area which covers a part of northern Tuscany as well as smaller areas in the Liguria and Emilia Romagna Regions.  The first stop is Malaspina Castle in the village of Fosdinovo.  Starting at :40, you'll see Bastia Castle, located in its namesake town near the larger town of Licciana Nardi.  At the 1:00 mark, you'll see the castle town of Tresana.  

Take an aerial tour of a famous walled town in Italy's Tuscany region, compliments of Brand07.  The Castiglione di Garfagnana is situated on a hillside above the River Esarulo in Lucca, one of the northwesternmost provinces which make up the official Tuscany region of west-central Italy.  Located near an important pass in the Apennine Mountains, the fortified town was built during the Middle Ages atop the ruins of an old Roman fort.  It was besieged multiple times, into the Early Modern period.  

Here's a nice look at the small island of Elba, which is situated off the western coast of Italy.  It's the largest in a group of islands called the Tuscan Archipelago, which are arrayed (as the name suggests) off the coast of the Tuscany region between the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian Seas, both of which are considered extensions of the Mediterranean.  The specific spot shown in this video by contributor kpax is the area around Capoliveri, which lies on a peninsula off the southeast part of the island.  

AirVuz contributor Travel and Drones brings us this fantastic drone video from the fabled Italian region of Tuscany.  The video opens with shots of the Staccioli sculptures near Volterra, in the province of Pisa.  Then it's on to the Val d’Orcia, a region of rolling hills in the southern provinces of Siena and Grosetto.  From there, you'll head to the Crete Senesi region and the Chapel of the Madonna of Vitaleta, south of the city of Siena.  You'll also see the Chianti Wine region around Poggibonsi and the famous marble quarries of Carrara.

Contributor Ziomarc brings us this excellent video from one of the most iconic spots in the mountains of Tuscany, Italy.  It's called Monte Forato, which means "Holed Mountain" in Italian.  Its two adjacent peaks, which sit at an altitude of around 1.2k meters or just over 4k ft., form the arch which gives the mountain its name and which you'll see clearly in the video.  Located in the province of Lucca, it's part of the Apuan Alps, the northernmost sub-chain of the Apennines range that runs down the "spine" of Italy.  

Take a tour of a famous Italian Abbey of San Galgano in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot Pascar.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Air 2 and supplemented with Insta360 ground camera footage, the video will give you a unique perspective of this Cistercian located between the towns of Chiusdino and Monticiano in Siena, the southernmost of the provinces of the Tuscany region.  The abbey originally dates to the 12th century, and the Gothic style 13th century church on the site remains partially standing.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Alessio Tricarico brings us this excellent drone video of a well-known monastery in the Tuscany region of western Italy.  It's called the Abbey of San Galgano, and it's located in the province of Siena, in the southeastern part of Tuscany.  The abbey was founded by the Order of Cistercians, an offshoot of the Order of St. Benedict.  The monastery's main church, which is now roofless, was constructed in the 13th century.  It's been inactive since the late 18th century.

Folgorito was part of the Gothic Line during World War II, when Allied soldiers worked their way up the Italian peninsula in a series of battles which collectively inflicted hundreds of thousands of casualties.  Famously, the 442nd Infantry Regiment, composed of Japanese-Americans, breached the Western Gothic Line here in the closing weeks of the conflict.  

Check out this magnificent drone video from the Italian island of Elba, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Marco Miele.  The video was shot over the town of Marciana Marina, which lies on the northwestern side of the island.  It's one of the most important towns on Elba, which is part of a small group of islands off the coast of the region of Tuscany and which marks the boundaries between the Ligurian and Tyhrennian Seas, both of which are considered inlets of the Mediterranean Sea.   

Take a tour of the Italian city of Siena in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot Marco Miele.  The "star" of the show is the Siena Cathedral, which dates to the 12th century and is the most significant landmark in this Tuscan city.  Easily recognized by the height of its bell tower, its white and black marble, and its complex facade, it's dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.  It's considered one of the great standing masterpieces of Greco-Romanesque architecture and one of the top attractions in Tuscany.

This stunner by Duncan DroneNuts will simultaneously show you the powerful beauty of Italy's Tuscany region and the amazing capabilities of the new DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.  The video beautifully captures the famed rolling hills of the region, dotted with beautiful walled medieval era towns, sprawling vineyards, and baronial estates.  The video was shot on a family trip during the time of year when summer transitions to fall, showing a hint of the emerging autumn foliage in the famed mist-covered hills. 

The culturally rich and historically significant cities of Florance and Pisa are located in Italy's Tuscany region. Both Florence, known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, and Pisa, steeped with a background focused on maritime activity, have plenty to offer tourists, including landmarks such as the Historic Centre of Florence, Michelangelo's Statue of David, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Drone pilot Karl Veca used his DJI Mavic Pro to provide a perfect aerial glimpse of these two Italian cities.

Prepare to be blown away by this incredible first person view (FPV) drone footage of some very talented windsurfers off the coast of Italy, compliments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Quino FPV.  The video was filmed near the "white beaches" of Vada in the Tuscany Region, on the Ligurian Sea.  The video features some phenomenal up-close windsurfing footage, which is extremely challenging to capture from the FPV pilot's perspective due to the speed of the windsurfers and the strength and direction of the prevailing winds. 

The quiet hour of sunset gave top contributor Gianlo the perfect lighting for this epic drone video taken over Florence, Tuscany's magnificent capital and generally viewed as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.  The video features excellent aerial views of some of the city's top attractions, including the Santa Maria del Fiore, Ponte Vecchio, and Polazzo Vecchio, and more sights and sounds of Firenze.  This production was a nominee for the 2017 AirVuz Drone Video Awards in the Cities category.
