The Best of the Alps Mountains Region by Drone

Contributor davidaguilar is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community; as of November, 2020, he's won the Drone Video of the Week on three separate occasions, and his piece "Magic Iceland" was the People's Choice winner at the second annual Drone Video Awards.  All good reasons to watch this magnificent video he created from the French and Swiss Alps.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Air drone at the height of the Fall color season, the video provides epic glimpses of some of the world's most beautiful scenery.  

Top contributor Julien Hulin has secured multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist spots for his drone videos from the Brittany region of northwestern France.  In this amazing piece, he heads southeast to make a video showing the incredible natural beauty of the French Alps region.  The outstanding piece captures some of the spectacular alpine scenery of the area, including massive glaciers and razor-like rock ridges.  At about the 1:43 mark, there's a nice shot of the Pont du Châtelet bridge in the municipality of Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Dronescapes by Atellani brings us this breathtaking aerial highlight reel from across the great Alps Mountains of Europe.  The DVOW nominated video features footage from  Passo San Marco in the Bergamo Alps of northern Italy; the Dolomite Mountains of northeastern Italy, part of the Northern Limestone Alps; Susten Pass in Switzerland, Hasliberg in the Swiss Alps; St. Bernard Pass, which connects the canton of Valais in Switzerland with the Val d'Aosta in Italy; Switzerland's Furka Pass; and more.  

With nearly 700k followers on Instagram as of late 2023, Muhamad AbuShakra is one of the world's top aerial videographers.  While he has filmed a wide variety of locations, he is probably best known for filming some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on earth, often capturing himself in the video to show the immensity of surroundings.  In this stunning reel, he brings us highlights of his climbing and filming the mountains of the world, primarily the Alps Mountains in the heart of Europe.  

Prepare to be amazed by this stunning drone video from the Alps Mountains by brand-new contributor The Obelisk.  Featuring magnificent shots from Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, the video was film was named as the Best Drone Film at the Cannes World Film Festival, and was also nominated for Best Super Short Film. It was also nominated for Best Experimental Short at the Cannes Shorts festival.  Highly creative and with amazing transitions, the video provides a bird's eye view of some of the most spectacular alpine scenery in Europe.  

Check out these spectacular drone views of the Bavarian Alps, compliments of AirVuz contributor Karem Hajoj.  A Drone Video of the Week Finalist in August of 2024, the video was filmed with the DJI Air 3 drone, which weighs about a pound (.5 kg) and is perfect for mountain treks.  Part of the Northern Limestone Alps, the Bavarian Alps cover much of Germany's southernmost state (as well as parts of adjacent Austria) and which have peaks ranging up to about 9.7k ft. in altitude (just under 3k m) above sea level.  

Two-time Drone Video Award Winner and 2020 New York City Drone Film Festival Multi-Finalist Timelab.Pro brings us this masterpiece from western Switzerland.  The video features stunning footage of spots throughout the region known variously as Romandy and French-Speaking Switzerland.  Opening with shots of the mighty Bernese Alps, the piece then takes you to the giant glacier-fed Émosson Dam, the great Chillon Castle on (the also glacial-fed) Lake Geneva; from there you'll head to the lake's namesake city; the de facto regional capital . 

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Muhamad AbuShakra brings us this magnificent drone video from the Alps Mountains in the heart of Europe.  Starting at the :10 mark, there's a great "reveal" shot from atop the three-peaked Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen) in the Dolomite subchain in northeastern Italy.  Numerous other shots feature the pilot and his companions standing atop impossibly steep-looking mountain ridges.  There are also some magnificent views of some of the region's valleys, lakes, and waterfalls.

Muhamad AbuShakra is without doubt one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community, with over a half-dozen Drone Video of the Week wins to his name as of August, 2021.  In this highly inspiring piece, he will again take you into his favored domain of the Alps, the mountainous region in the heart of Europe.  Set to motivational narration, he is able to create scenes showing how small we are compared to the forces of nature by filming himself set against some of the world's most spectacular alpine scenery.  

AirVuz contributor Muhamad AbuShakra is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community; as of mid-2020 he's won the Drone Video of the Week award four times and has been a Finalist several more.  In this incredible piece, he's compiled some of his best aerial footage from exploring the mighty Alps Mountains in the Spring of 2020.  Opening with a spectacular dronie from atop a rocky peak, the video will take you across some of the world's most beautiful natural scenery as the region emerged from the Winter months.  

While the peak of the mighty Matterhorn technically lies in Switzerland, the mountain actually straddles the Swiss-Italian border.  In this magnificent drone video by former Drone Video of the Week Winner Frame Hunters Media, you'll be treated to some astounding footage from the Italian side of the mountain.  The video was filmed along the Lion Ridge, which divides the western and southern faces of the near-perfectly symmetrical "pyramid" shaped peak.  The mountain has a peak altitude of 14.7k ft. above sea level, or just under 4.5k m.  

Top AirVuz contributor JAZ used a drone to create this mini-documentary covering a dogsled race in the Alps Mountains.  The event is called the La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc 2020, and it's been held on the slopes of the tallest mountain in the Alps since 2005.  The race involves teams of 14 dogs and covers a distance of 900 km (around 560 mi.) in France and Switzerland, with a total altitude change of 25k meters (about 82k ft.).  This video earned a NYCDFF nomination in the Narrative/Documentary category.

Muhamad AbuShakra is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community, with multiple Drone Video of the Week/Month wins to his name.  This masterpiece is another one to add to the list; it was picked as the Winner of the DVOW contest in May of 2021.  Like most of his works, it was shot over the great Alps mountains, home to some of the most spectacular natural scenery on the European continent.  Featuring footage from several countries, the video is an extremely well-edited compilation of some of his best work over three years.  

Top AirVuz contributor BlackMountainProd was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in November, 2023 for this amazing video filmed over the course of a six day trek around Switzerland's Matterhorn, one of the world's most famous mountains.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 3.  Situated in the Pennine Alps, near the Italian border, the nearly symmetrical mountain has a peak elevation of about 14.7k ft. above sea level (just under 4.5k m).  Its western face wasn't successfully climbed until 1962.  

Check out this fantastic aerial compilation of the Alps Mountains by top AirVūz contributor Muhamad AbuShakra. Filmed in the winter of 2020-21, when travel was greatly restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Muhamad hiked the unexplored winter scenes in the Alps mountains in Germany and Austria.  The Alps are the highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe, stretching approximately 1,200 km across eight Alpine countries.  This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in March 2021.   

All great things take time. So was the case for drone pilot Signo11, who took two years worth of his best footage to create this stunning aerial collection of the Italian Alps. The cinematographer will float over the snowcapped peaks at sunrise, occasionally capturing wildlife like horses in his frame. He’ll also take moments of stillness, slowly panning over one of the range’s many lakes and forests. It's a breathtaking piece that was well worth the wait and was a DVOW Finalist in May, 2019.

Top contributor Chris Jeon returns to AirVuz after a two year hiatus with this marvelous travel video from the Alps Mountains, where he spent 40 days traveling in the winter.  Starting at the :17 mark, you'll see the Matterhorn, which is located in Switzerland near the Italian border.  At around :28, you'll see Neuschwanstein Castle in the Bavarian Alps.  Other featured locations include the Tre Cime di Lavaredo massif in the Italian Dolomite Mountains (1:12), the iconic Swiss village of Lauterbrunnen. France's Mont Blanc, and much more.  

What do you get when you put one of the world's top practitioners of the art of dronelapse in some of the world's most beautiful alpine scenery? What you get is this stunning piece from award-winning contributor Majestic, which captures some of the most visually appealing spots in Switzerland and northern Italy, including: Zermatt, Matter Horn, Seceda, St. Magdalena. Cortina D’Ampezzo, Lucern, Lauterbrunnen, Staubbach Falls, Grindelwald, Oeschinen Lake, Tre Cime, and Lago Antorno. This video won DVOW in October, 2019.

One of the amazing things about DJI's Mavic Pro 2 is the way it combines portability with an outstanding camera. Released in late 2018, the foldable drone weighs less than a kg. (about two lbs.), yet its Hasselbad camera holds its own against cameras on much heavier models.  This allows content creators to put their MP2 in a backpack and head for the hills.  That's what Drone My Life did to create this stunning sunset view of the mountains of Switzerland; this video was picked as a DVOW winner in October, 2019.

Top contributor and former DVOW Finalist Signo11 hit another bulls-eye with this jaw-dropping piece from the Italian Alps.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, the film uses sequences captured in all four seasons.  Opening with a stunning shot over a lake encircled by Fall colors, the video then takes you up into the snow-covered peaks of the Lombardy and Trentino-Alto-Adige regions.  Then you'll be taken over the area's famous alpine valleys during the spring and summer months, closing with some incredible wintertime shots.   

Top contributor Muhamad AbuShakra used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this spectacular aerial video of some of the most beautiful alpine scenery in Europe.   It was shot in the course of a weeklong trip through the Northern Limestone Alps of Bavaria in southern Germany and Tyrol in western Austria.  These peaks, which reach up to about 3k meters (about 10k ft.) are as spectacular as the taller mountains of the Pennine and Graian Alps to the south and west. This was a DVOW winner in May, 2019.

Talented content creator Muhamad AbuShakra has done perhaps as much as any drone pilot to use these flying cameras to show off the beauty of the great Alps Mountains of Europe.  The multiple Drone Video of the Week contest winner has made a personal mission of filming the mountain range in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.  In this magnificent piece, he pulled together some of his best footage from across the range that he shot over the course of 2019.  Prepare to be amazed by these stunning alpine views.  

Shot with the DJI Mavic Air, this cinematic film of Northern Italy by contributor and pilot Lorenzo was picked as a Drone Video of the Week nominee in October, 2018. Content creator Lorenzo dedicated this piece to his wife, who he says has been a wonderful gift in his life. The Dolomites, specifically Alta Badia, Südtirol, and Trentino Alto Adige, set the remarkable backdrop for a short film meant to show a man's love for his bride. This video was nominated for Drone Video of the Week in November 2018.

Contributor Alessandro_campo used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this magnificent aerial video from the Dolomite Mountains of northern Italy. Part of the Southern Limestone Alps, the Dolomites are far from the tallest mountains in the Alps system - Mt. Blanc is nearly 50% taller than Marmolada, the highest Dolomite peak.  What they lack in altitude, they more than make up in prominence, as you'll see from these astounding views of the mountains which was picked as a DVOW Finalist in October, 2019.

Prepare to be amazed by this stunning Drone Video of the Week nominee of the Italian side of the mighty Matterhorn mountain by top contributor Dronescapes by Atellani.  The Matterhorn is one of the world's most iconic mountains.  It straddles the Swiss/Italian border, although technically the peak is in Switzerland and the nearest city the Swiss town of Zermatt.  While it isn't the highest peak in the great range (that would be Mont Blanc), it's certainly the most well recognized, with its distinctive pyramid shape.  

Talented contributor timroosjen brings us this fantastic drone video record of a two week trip through the Alps Mountains in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.  The video includes footage from the Berchtesgaden in Germany's Bavarian Alps, the town of Hallstatt in the Salzkammergut region of Austria, the Schladming Tauern sub-range of the Austrian Alps, the Cadini Di Misurina massif and Mt. Seceda in the Italian Dolomites, the Ischgl ski area on the Austro-Swiss border, and the village of Appenzell in northeastern Switzerland.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week/Month Winner BashirAbuShakra brings us this stunning drone video from the Dolomite Mountains in northeastern Italy.  The video footage was captured with a DJI Mavic Pro 3 over the course of a seven day solo trek through the mountains, which are part of the Southern Limestone Alps and which cover parts of several provinces in the Trentino-Alto-Adigio and Veneto regions.  It includes some epic shots of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen) massif, on the border of the South Tyrol and Belluno provinces.  

While the Dolomite Mountains of northern Italy are not the highest peaks in the Alps, they may be the most spectacular looking. Case in point is this amazing, DVOW-winning reel of the Dolomites from BashirAbuShakra.  Shot over the course of two years, it includes footage from the following locations: St. Magdalena, Val Fiscalina, Tre Cime de Lavaredo, Passo Giau, Cinque Torre, Cardini di Misurina, Alpe di Siusa, Monte Pelmo, Lago di Braies, Marmolada, Monte Cristallo, Croda de Toni, Seceda, and more.

In an aerial film dedicated to his mother and father, Muhamad AbuShakra gives us his best views of the breathtaking Alps mountain range from a variety of angles. Sit back and enjoy the views as he takes us flying low over the glacial lakes that lie smooth as glass, through the forests of evergreens heavy with snow, and soaring out from small villages and cabins. His variety of shots include shooting top-downs of the rushing rivers and hyper-lapses that catch the clouds rolling through the mountains. 

Hailing from Germany, haussmannvisuals is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community.  In this piece, the multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist and Drone Video Award Nominee gives us a breathtaking aerial view of the mountains of eastern Switzerland.  The area filmed is called the Alpstein, and it's a masif within the Appenzell Alps.  One of the northernmost parts of the entire Alps system, the Alpstein is located across the cantons of  Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and St. Gallen.

Former DVOW Winner Julien Hulin brings us this magnificent drone video from the French Alps, which was created to illustrate the effects of global warming on the glaciers of the Alps.  With their relatively small size, these glaciers are extremely sensitive to the ongoing rise in global temperatures.  The expected disappearance of at least 80% of their aggregate mass will mark the end of an important freshwater storage mechanism, and will forever disrupt the appearance of some of the world's most beautiful alpine landscapes.   

Austria's Verwall Mountains, part of the larger Alps system, are situated in the country's western Tyrol province.  They are home to some of the most picturesque views in all of Central Europe, with favorable comparisons to the very best sights that that Switzerland or Bavaria has to offer.  In this video, content creator and pilot M. C. Black flies his DJI Mavic Pro drone over the lakes and valleys of this stunningly beautiful area, giving us a breathtaking aerial view of the alpine district.  

Contributor Jturner produced this spectacular video skiing down the Argentiere glacier, which is part of the Mt. Blanc Masif in the French Alps.  The glacier which runs perpendicular to the Chamonix Valley, made a disguised but widely noted appearance in the 21st installment of the James Bond series, The World is Not Enough.  In the 1999 film, 007 (played by Pierce Brosnan) there's an epic mountain ski chase scene which is set in the Caucasus but which, in fact, was shot on this very glacier.

Top contributor iDrone Aerials brought his trusty DJI Mavic Pro drone back to Mt. Schilthorn for a summer look at this magnificent peak in the Bernese Alps.  The Bernese Alps lie in west-central Switzerland, and although Schilthorn is not the tallest of these peaks it's probably the best known.  Famous for its ski slopes, its mountaintop restaurant, and for a famous scene in the James Bond movie Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), Schilthorn is equally spectacular in the summer months.  

Explore the majesty of the French Alps in wintertime with this excellent video by Bastien Nvs.  The video combines first person view (FPV) drone footage with gimbal-stabilized shots from a DJI Mavic drone as well as a few shots from a ground camera.  At about the 1:05 mark, there's a great shot flying over a mountain bridge as a train crosses it, followed by overhead shots of the same train as it winds through a forest.  Further on in the video, you'll be treated to some great FPV views skimming the treetops and diving steep canyons.    

What's a bored dinosaur to do? Take an adventure through the Alps Mountains of Europe, of course! This unique and hilarious piece comes from the imagination of contributor and drone pilot Borsch. Watch Dino do "touristy" things like observing nature, hitch hiking, and snowboarding against a dream-like background of the snow-capped Alps mountains in the heart of Central Europe.  This video was picked as a Finalist in the Originality category for the second annual Drone Video Awards. 

A seven day hike in the heart of the Swiss Alps allowed award-winning contributor BashirAbuShakra to create this spectacular 4k drone video of his trip.  There is something for everyone in this video - endless glaciers, stunning canyons, suspended bridges, shimmering alpine valleys, waterfalls, selfies atop massive rock formations.  The video includes aerial footage of the Matterhorn, Grindelwald, and Triffbrücke.  As a way to show off the beauty of the Alps it's hard to beat this production.

After you watch this epic mountain dronie, you'll understand how it won first place in the Dronie Category for the first annual AirVūz Drone Video Awards!   Top contributor Wellington Rodriguez traveled up into the Bavarian Alps with a drone, and shot this stunning pullout shot capturing some of the most amazing rock formations you'll ever see.  Keep the title in mind as you watch it.  This was voted by viewers as the top pick in the Dronie category for the first annual AirVuz Drone Video Awards.

Talented drone pilot and contributor Rlardon hiked to the to the proverbial 'top of Europe' with his Mavic Pro to give us all the best vistas of the Bernese Alps, located in western Switzerland.  While showing some of the usual Alpine destinations such as the Bachalpsee and Wetterhorn, he also shares the site the locals prefer, like the Unterer and Oberer Grindelwaldgletchers. His dedication to conserving these beloved mountains serves as his worthy inspiration for these epic aerial videos.

Avoriaz is one of the best-known skiing destinations in the French Alps. It's in the area between Chamonix and Mt. Blanc to the south and Lake Geneva to the north. The resort has 51 slopes with a top-to-base drop of just under 1.4k meters or about 4.5k feet. It is one of the resorts credited with pioneering modern skiing and continues to be among France's top ski resorts and amongst the top in the entire Alps region. Ear Trumpet Media created this drone video of the magnificent slopes of Avoriaz.

Check out these fantastic drone views from the Austrian Alps, compliments of top AirVuz contributor www.oberschneider.com.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 3 drone in November of 2021.  You'll be treated to some epic views of mountains peeking through the clouds which cover the valleys below.  Some of the most dramatic footage is of the pilot himself standing atop one of the summits next to a cross, one of many such "summit crosses" which dot the Alps Mountain system across Europe.  

Rlardon created this magnificent drone video compilation from Europe's Pennine Alps.  This subrange of the broader Alps system is located in the Valais canton of  Switzerland and the Piedmont and Val d'Aosta regions of Italy.  Most of the video was filmed around the Swiss towns of Leukerbad, Nendaz and Saas-Fee.  The video features footage of the Gemmipass, the Daubensee, the Rhône valley and some waterfalls in the Saastal; you'll also get glimpses of the Matterhorn, Dent Blanche, and more.

The Julian Alps is a mountain range which extends from northern Italy westwards into Slovenia.  A sub-range of the larger Alps system, their  highest peak is Mt. Triglav, which stands 2.9k meters (9.4k ft) and lies in Slovenia's Triglav National Park.  In this video, contributor Jus Medic and a friend took a drone and hiked to the top of Dolkova Spica, a slightly smaller mountain in Slovenia, capturing Mt. Triglav in the distance.   The epic aerial views of the Slovenian mountains are spectacular.  

Check out this stunning dronelapse video of a famous ski resort in the French Alps, compliments of contributor Rein Martens.   It's called Val Thorens, and it's situated in the Tarentaise Valley in Savoy, in the heart of the French Alps.  The resort is linked to two other resorts through valleys. Val Thorens has the distinction of being the highest ski resort on the continent of Europe.  It's also the most-visited ski resort in France, and its cable car to the top of Cime de Caron is one of the world's largest.  

Tyrol province in western Austria has much in common with Switzerland and the German state of Bavaria, neighbors with whom it shares sections of the great Alps Mountains range.  In this breathtaking aerial video, contributor and drone pilot The Art of Drones uses his DJI Mavic Pro drone to capture the beauty of the Tyrolean Alps.  Flying at Hintertux, near Innsbruck (the state capital of Tyrol), he takes us on an unforgettable aerial tour of snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and pristine ski runs.  

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot FrankyMoiss brings us this VERY impressive video from the heart of the French Alps, a result a filming job he did for a French television show.  The video was shot on the Aiguille du Midi, one of the peaks of the Mont Blanc Masif.  The top of the mountain is accessible from a cable car system, one of the world's longest, which originates in the village of Chamonix.  The video was shot using a combination of a first person view (FPV) mini-drone and a DJI Mavic Pro 2.  

Dronescapes by Atellani created this breathtaking 4k drone video of Stelvio Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in the Eastern Alps range.  It connects Italy's South Tyrol and Sondrio provinces in the far north of the country.  With its hairpin turns, the road running through the pass is considered one of the best drives in the world, though certainly not for the faint of heart.   This pass, at an altitude of 2.75k meters (just over 9k ft.) was the scene of heavy fighting between Italy and Austria-Hungary during World War I.

When we say epic dronie, we mean it. The opening shot in this piece by AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Jturner is one epic dronie. The piece just gets better when you find out that Jturner was the subject his drone was following. He said he let his DJI Mavic Pro drone hover over him while he skied down Gemmstock - a mountain in the Swiss Lepontine Alps.  The Lepontines are a sub-chain of the greater Alps system which run through parts of southern Switzerland and adjacent areas of northern Italy.  

Top contributor Dronescapes by Atellani has done it again with his DJI Inspire 2 and ZenmuseX7 in this spectacular video of the snowy mountain passes of Switzerland. The Grimsel Pass, used by the Tour de Suisse; the Gotthard Pass, connecting northern and southern Switzerland since the Middle Ages; the Susten Pass, popular due to its phenomenal views of the Stein Glacier; and the Furka Pass, made famous by a chase scene in Goldfinger (1964), the third installment of the James Bond series, starring Sean Connery.

Contributor Ori Feldman brought a DJI Mavic Pro drone along on an epic trip up to Italy's highest mountain to create this amazing video.  It's shot in the area around Monte Rosa, Italy's highest mountain peak at just over 4.6k meters (about 15.2k ft.), and the second highest peak in the Alps.  The mountain massif covers portions of the Val d'Aosta and Piedmont regions of Italy, with a portion on Swiss soil.  It lies to the east of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, the latter being the highest peak in the  Alps.

Check out this stunning drone video of some scenes of the Alps Mountains in Switzerland and France, compliments of contributor rlardon.  The video's highlights include some of the most well-known glaciers in Switzerland, including Trift glacier near Saas-Fee, the Aletsch glacier, and the upper Zinal glacier.  You'll also see the Leukerbad Cliffs in the Canton of Valais.  On the French side of the border, you'll be treated to bird's eye views of Lac Blanc, near the town of Chamonix.  

Here's an awesome aerial view of one of the most well known ski villages in western Switzerland.  Saas-Fee lies in the Saastal Valley in Valais, the southwesternmost of the Swiss Cantons.  Saas-Fee is the best known of the ski resorts in the area, which lies to the east of the Mattertal Valley (home of the famous Matterhorn).   The video, which was shot mostly with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, features on-the-ground footage of the town's Ice Pavilion which affords up-close looks at the area's famous glaciers.  

Drone pilot and AirVūz contributor NvS Channel created this remarkable aerial compilation of Switzerland, which was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week in July of 2020.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone, the video captures some of the most iconic sites in this mountainous Central European land.  Highlights include the Belvédère Hotel (of James Bond fame) and other shots around Furka Pass, the famous yellow Fairmont Le Montreux Palace on the eastern shore of Lake Geneva (Lac Leman), and more.  

MV Agusta is one of the most storied names in motorcycles.  Based in Milan, the company collaborated with two-time Drone Video Award winner Timelab.pro to produce this magnificent piece from the mountains of northern Italy.  You'll aerially follow an Agusta bike through some of the world's most beautiful scenery, and then do things no bike will ever do, like soar through the peaks of the Dolomites, or skim over shimmering alpine lakes.  Filmed in the Fall, the video is expertly color-graded in the vaunted Timelab style.  

These stunning drone views of Switzerland by multiple Drone Video of the Week/Month Winner davidaguilar are some of the best we've seen.  The opening shots feature some magnificent aerial views of some of the country's lakes and waterfalls.  Other footage will take you over green valleys, towering mountain ridges, and other sights of the High Alps.  The video concludes with some amazing footage of the Aletsch Glacier.  The mighty ice sheet runs through a portion of the Bernese Alps and is the largest glacier in Europe.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Jturner brings us this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone video from the Alps Mountains.  The video was captured over the course of a month-long ski trip through the region.  The piece features footage from the following locations: the village of Engelberg, in the canton of Oberwalden near the center of Switzerland; the villages of Grimentz and Zinal, in the southwestern Swiss canton of Valais; the village of Zermatt), near the Matterhorn; and the fabled Fench ski resort town of Chamonix.  

Top AirVuz contributor Rlardon took his DJI Mavic drone on a hike into the Swiss Alps at Zermatt to create this stunning aerial video of the region at the end of the Autumn season.  The video includes drone footage of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Lyskamm, Breithorn, Mischabel, Dent Blanche and Weisshorn, as well as the mighty Gornergletscher, the colourful larches of the Lötschental and the snowy peaks above Kandersteg.  Zermatt is in the southwestern part of the country, near the Italian border.

Val de Formazza is a valley in the extreme north of Italy, in its Piedmont region.  It is situated in one of the sub-ranges of the Alps which lie across northern Italy.  The valley is surrounded by eight main mountains, the highest of which rises to an elevation of around 3.4k meters (a bit over 11k ft) above sea level.  Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Dronescapes by Atellani used a DJI Zenmuse X7 camera mounted to a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create this stunning aerial video of the beautiful alpine valley.

Avid travelers and talented drone pilots HikeTheWorld are taking us to the Dolomites in this incredible piece. Located in northeastern Italy, the Dolomites were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in August of 2009. Also known as the Pale Mountains, they were the front line between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces in WWI. A number of famous footpaths traverse through the Dolomites, the most renowned being Alta Via 1. Their unique structure and coloring can be seen in this drone video. 

Soak in some marvelous aerial views of the Bavarian Alps, compliments of AirVuz contributor AS Video.  It was shot in the municipality of Ruhpolding in the Traunstein District of Upper Bavaria, the southeasternmost of the official regions of the Bavarian state.  The area shown is the Untersberg masif, a cluster of mountains within the Berchtesgaden Alps on the Austrian border.  Its highest peak is Berchtesgadener Hochthron, which has a summit elevation of just under 2k meters above sea level (a bit under 6.5k ft.).  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Akos Kovacs brings us this excellent drone video from the Alps Mountains in the the wintertime.  The video was filmed over Austria and the German state of Bavaria, both of which are partially covered by this majestic range of mountains that lie in the heart of the European continent.  With their northern latitude and high altitudes, much of the area covered by the Alps becomes a snow covered winter wonderland during the cold months of the year.  

Experience the beauty of the mighty Alps Mountains in this marvelous video by top AirVuz contributor Shikijo, which combines footage from a gimbal-stabilized drone as well as a first person view (FPV) quad.  The video was created over a seven day period, filmed mostly at sunrise.  Beautifully edited, the piece does a great job showing the contrast between the two types of drones.  This video was picked by the AirVuz editorial staff as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in late June of 2022. 

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Julien Ferrandez Photography created this stunning drone video of a mountain biker taking on a rocky ridge in the French Alps.  Watch as this obviously very skilled biker bravely courses through a serpentine mountain-top trail amidst some of the finest natural scenery in Europe.   He's not moving at a crawl, either - at several points in this video the biker gets some serious "air".  Go on this wild ride from an aerial view and feel that flow for yourself.

Take in these stunning aerial views from the mountains of Austria, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Finalist and Drone Video Award Nominee Ericbartolo.   The video features magnificent shots of some of the world's finest alpine scenery.  Locations range from the quaint area around the town of Hallstatt in the Salzkammergut lake district of Upper Austria, as well as the towering heights of the Austrian Alps in the western state of Tyrol.  The video was captured with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.  

Prepare to be amazed by this stunning first person view (FPV) drone video of the famous Matterhorn mountain by top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Livyu.  The video was filmed with a GoPro Hero 11 Mini camera strapped to a 6" FPV quad equipped with a long-range FPV setup.  Situated in the heart of the Pennine Alps in Switzerland, near the Italian border, the Matterhorn has one of the world's most perfectly symmetrical peaks of any mountain.  The Matterhorn has a summit altitude of about 14.7k ft. above sea level, or around 4.5k m.

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Richard Beresford Harris brings us this stunning drone video from one of the most iconic scenes in the Alps: the Tre Cime di Lavaredo mountain formation in northeastern Italy.  Also known (in German) as the Drei Zinnen, the three peaks are located on the border between the province of South Tyrol in the Trentino-Algo-Adigion region and the province of Belluno in the neighboring region of Veneto.  The tallest of the three peaks stands 9.8k ft. above sea level or about 3k m.  

Top AirVuz contributor Ori Feldman brings us this amazing video from the area around Mt. Blanc in the French Alps.  Created using aerial drone footage and ground-based timelapse shots, the video will take you over some of the world's most stunning alpine scenery.  Located near the spot where France, Italy, and Switzerland touch each other, Mt. Blanc is the highest peak in the Alps and the highest mountain in Europe ex Russia.  It has a peak altitude of just under 15.8k ft. above sea level, or around 4.8k m.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner www.oberschneider.com used the new DJI Mavic 3 Classic to create this stunning aerial view of the Austrian Alps.  The video was shot over the Gastein Valley, which is located within the High Tauern subrange in the state of Salzburg.  Part of the Central Eastern Alps, the High Tauern include the highest peaks in the entire Alps system east of the Brenner Pass (which lies along the Austrian-Italian border); the peaks here range up to about 12.5k ft. above sea level or around 3.8k m.

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot LauLauPictures used a DJI Mini 2 to create this excellent drone video from the Alps, home of some of the world's most spectacular mountain scenery.  The video was filmed over the course of a two week trip through the region in October of 2022.  Among the highlights is a series of nice shots of the Hotel Belvédère, which is located on the twisting road which runs along Furka Pass in Switzerland; this was the site of a famous chase scene in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger.

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot CineStyleFPV returns with this fantastic FPV mountain surfing piece from the Swiss Alps.  In addition to some stunning views of the Grindlewald Glacier, the video features some epic "formation flight" footage of his fellow pilot.  Check out the "air-to-air" sequences which start at around the :22 and :52 marks; this would be impressive footage even from far less demanding (and spectacular) surroundings.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in October, 2022.
