Canyons are generally formed by erosion from a water source, either in a river setting or between mountain peaks. With sufficient water flow and the right ground conditions, moving water (in liquid and in the form of ice) scrapes away enough soil and rock to create yawning cracks in the earth. However formed, they represent some of the most magnificent spots of natural beauty on the planet. Traditionally, canyons and gorges were filmed or photographed either from the bottom of the canyon or from some overlooking location at the top. Now, thanks to drones, canyons can be safely filmed and photographed from much more optimal locations, namely by flying over them. From the great Verdon Gorge near the French Alps to the stunning canyons of the Southwestern USA, the drone videos in this collection will give you a newfound appreciation for these natural wonders.
