Tibet - Ngari (Ali) | China
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Former DVOW Winner T-christ-T brings us this fantastic drone video from Chinese Tibet. The video was filmed over Ngari, the prefecture which covers the western part of Tibet Autonomous Region. Despite being part of the world's most populous country, Ngari is one of the least populated areas on Earth, with fewer than 100k people spread out over an area of nearly 120k square mi. (around 305k square km). Just before the :45 mark, there's a great shot of Mount Kailash, which rises to a height of just under 22k ft. above sea level (6.6k m).

Tibet - Ngari (Ali) | China Ali occupies the entire western part of Tibet (China). The most common overland route is a 1,200 km drive northwest from Shigatse that first arrives at Lake Manasarovar and Mount Kailash. Traveling generally north from there, Ali's main attractions, such as the ruins of the Guge Kingdom, Toling Monastery, the town of Shiquanhe, and Pangong Lake, are spread in a wide arc across the region. Due to the high altitude, annual temperatures in Ali are on the cool side, averaging -6oc to 9oc. The best time to visit is between May and October. In the warmer months, daytime highs can reach 20 degrees Celsius. Mount Kailash: The 6,638-meter mountain towers above the landscape. Known as "precious mountain" in Tibetan, it is an important spiritual destination for followers of Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and the Bon faith. It is believed that taking a trek of Mount Kailash is a way to accumulate merit and purify sins. Laka Manasarovar: One of the three holiest lakes in Tibet, Lake Manasarovar is another important spiritual destination for pilgrims. It is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world, covering 320 square kilometers. The clear blue waters of the lake stand out against the lere landscape of barren hillsides and snow-capped mountains.
