The island of Puerto Rico has been a territory of the United States since the Spanish–American War of 1898. Its southern shoreline is on the Caribbean Sea, while its northern shoreline lies along the Bermuda Triangle in the South Atlantic. Having spent years developing tourism traffic to replace the once-dominant role of its sugar mills, the island was hit hard by Hurricane Maria in September, 2017. The storm wreaked havoc across much of the Caribbean, and Puerto Rico became the scene of some of the worst devastation from a natural disaster ever seen on US soil. As it recovers, tourists are re-discovering the natural and cultural charms of the island, which features a mountainous interior, beautiful white sand beaches, iconic lighthouses, and cultural sites like the Old San Juan, site of some of the greatest fortresses ever built in the Western Hemisphere. This collection features the best drone videos of this fascinating island, taken both before and after the great hurricane.
