Kuwait from the Sky

Take an aerial tour of the Middle Eastern nation of Kuwait in this fantastic trip reel by AirVuz contributor and pilot The Drone Life PK.  Much of the footage is from Kuwait City, the national capital which is home to about 60% of its residents and has one of the most impressive skylines in the region.  In addition to great shots of the capital's magnificent skyscrapers, you'll also be treated to some great shots of the country's Persian Gulf coastline as well as its interior deserts.   

Check out this stunning nighttime dronelapse of Kuwait City, compliments of contributor mungkey.  Situated near the middle of the country's Persian Gulf coastline, Kuwait City is home to about half the country's population.  The video includes some epic shots of the ball-shaped Kuwait Towers as well as Al Hamra Tower, the 80 floor architectural masterpiece which is the country's tallest skyscraper, standing 414 meters (about 1.35k ft.).  This video was picked as a DVOW winner in July, 2019.  

The most recognizable landmark in the small Persian Gulf country of Kuwait is the Kuwait Towers, a group of three water towers which stand on a small peninsula in the country's namesake capital city.  The main tower is distinguished by its two giant spheres - the lower is a water storage tank, while the upper sphere holds a restaurant and observation deck. Seen here in this DVOW nominated film by The Drone Life PK, the Kuwait Towers were built in the 1970's and were recently re-opened to the public after a multi-year maintenance and renovation project. 

In this drone video, contributor and pilot sjalibrahim does a fabulous job of aerially filming a Kuwaiti phenomenon not known to many: its thriving bird population.  While this oil-rich country on the Persian Gulf is mostly desert, a small corner of the country is highly conducive to bird life.  That puts the country in the position of being home of some of the most important bird sanctuary areas in the entire Middle East.  Watch the video and you'll see a Kuwaiti wetlands you likely never knew existed.  

Kuwait City is the capital of Kuwait in the Arabian Gulf. The heart of the city is the Grand Mosque, which is known for its vast interior and chadeliered dome. However, the rest of the city is modern, vibrant, and sky-high as seen in this nighttime, hyper lapse drone video by pilot mungkey. He took his DJI Mavic 2 Pro out over the city to create this glittering, stunning compilation video that features some of the more famous skyscrapers like Al Hamra Tower, Al-Rayah Tower, and Kipco Tower by drone. 

Kuwait City's Al Hamra Tower is one of the architectural wonders of the world.  Completed in the 2011, it utilizes a revolutionary design made of curved concrete.  The 80 story building has a roof height of 368 meters (just over 1.2k ft.) and an architectural height of 414 meters or about 1.35k ft, easily the tallest building in this oil-rich Middle Eastern country.  Seen here in this excellent drone video by The Drone Life PK, its "wrapped facade" cuts the amount of sunlight hitting its south face, reducing cooling costs.   

Most of Kuwait's human population of about four million lives around Kuwait Bay, a major inlet of the northern Persian Gulf.  The extensive lagoons and wetlands here also support a large bird population.  While some species are native, a larger number use the nutrient rich waters here to sustain some of the most important migratory flows in Eurasia.  In this drone video by top contributor The Drone Life PK, you'll get an aerial view of the bird population near Shuwaikh Port, southwest of Kuwait city on the eastern side of the bay.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of a cargo ship heading into the harbor of Kuwait City, compliments of top AirVuz contributor The Drone Life PK.  He filmed the Hong Kong flagged Yangtze Ambition bulk carrier sailing into the Shuwaikh Port, which is just to the southwest of the city center.  It's the primary import port for this oil-rich (but otherwise resource-poor) emirate.   The Shuwaikh port is part of an industrial complex that includes many of the country's manufacturing facilities.  

To understand the layout of Kuwait City, check out this drone video by the Drone Life PK.  Starting at about :30, there's a great pullback shot facing south toward the spherical Kuwait Towers.  The city's most recognizable landmark, they sit at the the northern tip of a peninsula which forms the southern end of Kuwait Bay, itself an inlet of the Persian Gulf.  Behind the towers stand the city's skyscrapers, the tallest of which are the 80 floor Al Hamra Tower, the 61 floor NBK Tower, and the 60 floor Arraya 2 Tower.   

Sjalibrahim created this amazing drone video of Kuwait City, the capital of the eponymous country.  The city is situated more or less in the middle of the country's coastline on the Persian Gulf, and is home to 6 in 10 Kuwaitis.  In the video, you'll see footage of the highly iconic Al Hamra Tower, one of the Middle East's tallest building at over 400 meters (over 1.3k ft.), as well as the city's highly distinctive white and blue water towers, vital for this city of 2.5 million surrounded by desert.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of Kuwait's Liberation Tower, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot The Drone Life PK.  Located in the country's namesake capital city, the communications tower stands just under 375 meters tall (a bit over 1.2k ft.).  Completed in 1993, it is dedicated to the liberation of the country from Iraqi control in 1991.  The tower had been under construction when the country was invaded and annexed by Iraq in the summer of 1990, triggering the conflict known as the First Gulf War.

Kuwait's Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects ever undertaken in the Middle East.  Seen in this excellent drone video by The Drone Life PK, the just-completed bridge system spans Kuwait Bay in two places: a longer span between Kuwait City and the northern area of Subiya, and a shorter link connecting central KC to the Kuwait Entertainment City area near the head of the bay.  The longer link measures 36 km (about 21 mi.), making it the world's fourth-longest bridge as of 2019.  

Top contributor The Drone Life PK brings us this marvelous drone video of Kuwait's namesake capital city.  Located on the south side of Kuwait Bay (an inlet of the Persian Gulf), KC has followed Dubai and other Persian Gulf cities in terms of verticality - as of early 2020, the city has a dozen skyscrapers over 150 meters in height (around 500 ft.) plus another half-dozen under construction or planned.  The video features outstanding footage of virtually of of the city's tallest skyscrapers, including Al Hamra Tower.

One of the more notable landmarks of Kuwait City is Liberation Tower, a communication tower which stands 372 meters (over 1.2k ft.) above the streets of the Kuwaiti capital.  The tower was under construction when Kuwait was invaded by Iraq in 1990, eventually triggering the first Iraq war.  The tower was completed in 1993, and its name was changed to commemorate the liberation of the country by UN forces during the conflict.  Contributor Ishqification crated this rather amazing drone video of the tower.
