Drone Videos of Lithuania

What does Lithuania look like?  This drone video from Danulis, who calls this Baltic country home, will answer it.  This film takes you over misty forests, clear lakes, vast marshland, beautiful Baltic Sea villages, and some of the country's many rivers.  With shots of the spectacularly well preserved medieval cities of Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipedia, you'll get a glimpse of this country's fascinating and complex history.    You'll also be treated to some excellent aerial shots of the country's famous lakes and wetlands.

This drone video reel by professional drone pilot BABAC will give you a brief look at the beautiful Baltic republic of Lithuania.  This is a flat land, heavily forested and with many rivers, lakes, and marshes, which has been fought over for centuries.  At various times in its long history, Lithuania has been part of Poland, Russia, Germany; for many years, it even had an empire of its own.  This video will give you a quick overview of this fascinating country, which sits at the crossroads between Central and Eastern Europe.

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor cdcervantes brings us this excellent drone video from the Baltic republic of Lithuania.  The first part of the video was filmed over Vilnius, the capital city, where you'll see the city's modern skyscrapers, its old town (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and the hilltop Vilnius Castle complex on the Neris River near its confluence with the Vilnia River.  Then you'll head west for a visit to the country's coastline along the Baltic Sea, before returning for a last look at the Vilnius skyline.  

Like the other Baltic states of northeastern Europe, Lithuania becomes a snow-covered wonderland during the winter months.  With much of the country covered in dense forests, the arrival of snow creates a surreal picture - even more so when viewed from above.  Much of the tree population here is of the evergreen variety, and the woods become fields of dark green and white.  This drone video by contributor and pilot VyGaS will give you an aerial view of some of the world's most iconic looking winter landscapes.    

Vilnius is the capital of the Baltic republic of Lithuania as well as its largest city.  With a population of just under 600,000, Vilnius sits in the center of the country, some distance from the Baltic Sea coastline.  While the city has modern sections, its heart is a marvelously well preserved old city, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Pilot DroneZurich used a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced drone to create this amazing aerial tour of this amazing and ancient city, which sits at the confluence of the Neris and Vilnia Rivers.

Kaunas is the second largest city in the Baltic Republic of Lithuania, after Vilnius.  Like Vilnius, it sits not on the Baltic Sea but in the interior of the country.   Kaunas was actually the capital of the country during the interwar period, when Vilnius was considered to be part of Poland.  Contributor ThePaulenzo used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create an impressive aerial view of this well preserved medieval city at night.  Considered the country's cultural capital, Kaunas has a population of about 300,000.

One of the distinctive features of the Baltic Sea coastline in northern Europe is the presence of spits, which are long sand dune islands that run alongside the shore.  Spits are created by river outflow and deposition patterns that are common in the Baltic Sea area but rare in most other parts of the world.  Contributor and pilot Whiteseagull used a drone to create an amazing aerial view of the Curonian Spit off the coast of Lithuania.  This area has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.    

The Baltic Republic of Lithuania is known for having some of the most spectacular Fall colors landscape in Europe.  Set on the vast East European Plain and heavily forested, the Lithuanian countryside experiences an early but full-throated expression of Autumn.  In this drone video by contributor bailongas, you will get some aerial glimpses of this magnificent display of fall colors.  The video was shot along one of the country's many rivers, with both river and trees covered in a thin layer of mist.

This drone video of Lithuania's largest city and capital Vilnius by contributor and pilot Edwinux will give you a sense of this city's setting and storied history.  You'll be able to see how the old town's historic center is now surrounded by a large and very modern-looking city.  The bulk of the video is shot over the core old city, located on the Neris River.  The most dramatic footage is of the castle atop Gediminas Hill, which served as the city's main defensive fortification for centuries.

Check out this fantastic drone video from a well-known lake in the Baltic republic of Lithuania, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot bailongas.  Balsys Lake is one of the six so-called Green Lakes, which are located in the northeastern outskirts of Vilnius, the country's capital and largest city.  The video was filmed over the course of all four seasons.  The other five Green Lakes are Gulbinas Lake, Mažasis Lake (aka Little Gulbinas Lake), Akis Lake, Raistelis Lake, and Baraukos Akis Lake.

Vilnius, Lituania is one of the great cultural treasures of Eastern Europe.  The city has flourished since Lithuania once again became an independent country in the 1990's following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.  In this video, contributor fake@fakeit.it used a combination of drone and ground camera footage to create an indelible impression of this great city and its people.  Watch it and you will get a marvelous overview of this city, which sits at an important geographical crossroads in the Baltic region. 

Brand-new AirVuz contributor slaks_travel brings us this excellent drone video of Trakai Castle in the Baltic Republic of Lithuania.  It's built on an island in of Lake Galvė, which lies a bit to the west of the capital city Vilnius.  The castle dates to the 14th century during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which ruled over a large section of Eastern Europe from the 13th to the 18th centuries.  Due to its location relative to Vilnius, the castle was considered of vital strategic importance to the defense of the Duchy.   

The Baltic republic of Lithuania is home to some of the finest Fall scenery in Europe.  As you'll see in this excellent aerial video by contributor and drone pilot Whiteseagull, Lithuania's  heavily forested, low-lying countryside turns to brilliant colors during the Autumn months.  His video does a beautiful job of capturing not only the bright colors of the trees but also the greenn hues of Lithuania's lakes, the deep purple of the clouds, and the orange tint the sun casts across the countryside. 

Like its fellow Baltic Sea republics Latvia and Estonia, Lithuania is home to some of the most beautiful "flatlands" in Europe.  While fairly small in area, its interior is home to countless lakes, swamps, streams, and other natural features which grace this part of the great Eastern European Plain.  In this drone video by bailongas, you'll get an aerial view of the country's gorgeous natural landscape.  The video captures a forest-surrounded lake somewhere in the countryside, which glistens under fog on a beautiful Spring morning.

Here's a nice aerial view of the largest monastery in the Baltic republic of Lithuania, compliments of contributor Andriuhamas.  It's the Pažaislis Monastery and the Church of the Visitation in the Petrašiūnai neighborhood of Kaunas the country's cultural capital.  The monastery founded in 1662 but wasn't completed until early in the 18th century.  It's considered the finest example of Baroque architecture in the country.  Since the 1990's, it's also been the scene of an annual music festival.  

Here's an aerial view of a well-known manor in the Baltic republic of Lithuania, compliments of contributor Arturas Orlauskas.  It's called Rokiškis Manor, and it's located in a town of the same name in the northeastern part of the country.  While the original structure here dates to the 15th century, the current Classicist style palace was constructed in the early 19th century. When the Soviet Union took control of Lithuania in the early months of World War II, the estate was nationalized.  

The Baltic nation of Lithuania is divided into five ethnographic regions, only one of which has any administrative status.  The northwesternmost of the five, and in many ways the most distinctive, is the Samogitia region.  This primarily Catholic area is the most ethnically homogenous of the five, with over 99% of its residents being ethnic Lithuanians.  In this drone video by dariusly, you'll get a bird's eye tour of Samogitia, including footage of both its countryside and its urban landscapes.

Contributor +FRAME created this beautiful drone video of two of the top lakes districts in the Baltic republic of Lithuania.  The first part of the video was shot around Lake Ūkojas, which lies in the northeastern corner of the country, near the borders with Latvia and Belarus.  The rest of the video features footage around Lake Trakai, which lies east and a bit south of Kaunas.  Here's you'll get a bird's eye view of Trakai Castle, which lies on one of the lake's islands and is the only island castle in Eastern Europe.

The Baltic republic of Lithuania, while small, is home to some of the finest forested landscapes in Eastern Europe.  In this drone video by contributor and pilot bacbac, you'll follow a bike riding on a path through one of these areas.  It was filmed around the town of Druskininkai, which lies along the Neman River in the southern part of the country.  The beautiful lakes and forests here attracted the attention of no less a personage than Russia's Czar Nichoas I, who conferred spa status on the town in 1837.

Roughly 30% of the Baltic republic of Lithuania is forested, a remainder of the ancient forest which once covered much of this part of the Eastern European Plain.  During the cold months of the year, the region's ample snowfalls make for a glorious winter wonderland.  In this drone video by brand-new contributor rgstudio, you'll see this stunning scene around the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, which lies near the confluence of two important rivers in the country's interior.  The video includes shots of the giant Vilnius TV Tower.   

The Baltic republic of Lithuania lies on the great Eastern European Plain, an enormous land mass which extends from Poland in the west to Russia's Ural Mountains in the east.  Like its sister republics Latvia and Estonia, Lithuania's landscape is quite flat; it's highest point is only about 300 meters (less than 1k ft.) above sea level, and the elevation of most of the country is only a fraction of that.  In this drone video by whiteseagull, you'll get a look at a farm amidst the seemingly endless expanses of the Lithuanian plain. 

One of the most important modern landmarks in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas is the Ninth Fort.  Seen here in this drone video by bailongas, the fortification was part of the Kaunas Fortress built in the late 19th century, when Lithuania was part of Imperial Russia and seen as an important defensive position for protecting the Empire's borders.  The fortification saw heavy fighting in World War I, and in World War II the Ninth Fortress was the sight of a notorious mass murder of Lithuanian Jews known as the Kaunas Massacre.

Pažaislis Monastery is one of the great cultural landmarks of Lithuania, the small Baltic republic.  Seen in this drone video by contributor slaks_travel, the complex is located in Kaunas, Lithuania's second-largest city, on what is now a peninsula of the Kaunas Reservoir, an artificial lake created in the 1950's by the damming of the Neman River.  Considered one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in the Baltic region, construction of the site began in the 1660's and continued (with some intermissions) well into the 1700's.   

Check out this drone video of the largest power plant in the Baltic republic of Lithuania, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Arturas Orlauskas.  The Elektrėnai Power Plant is located in its namesake town, about 50 km (30 mi.) west of the Lithuanian capital city Vilnius.  Capable of burning natural gas, heating oil, and bitumen the plant was built in stages during the 1960's and early 70's.  Cooled by water from the Strėva River, it has a nameplate capacity of about 1.8GW.  

Here's a stunning aerial view of the Lithuanian capital city of Vilnius, compliments of ziggy.  The video opens with shots of the Gediminas' Tower, which overlooks the Neris River and which is the remaining portion of the 15th century Upper Castle, followed by the Vilnius Cathedral.  After seeing other sites of the Old Town, at the :50 mark there's a great shot of the Šnipiškės skyscraper district on the river's northern bank.  Other featured locations include the Church of St. Anne (1:14) and the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul (1:30).  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot brings us this fantastic FPV view of the Old Town of Kaunas, Lithuania.  Located at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris Rivers in the interior of this Baltic republic, Kaunas is Lithuania's second-largest city, after Vilnius.  The video provides a unique FPV perspective of the most well-known sights of this historic district, including the 14th century Kaunas Castle, the 16th century Town Hall, and the main square.  

Check out this marvelous aerial view of the city of Kaunas, Lithuania in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor slaks_travel.  At about the :45 mark, there's a nice shot of the twin-spired Church of St. Francis Xavier, with the single-tower Kaunas Town Hall on the right and the Neman River in the background.  At about 1:40, you'll see Kaunas Castle, a medieval-era (14th century) landmark which is situated on the Neris River just before it joins the Neman.  Kaunas is the second-largest city in this small Baltic country.
