Unusually for a Southeast Asian country, the national capital of Vietnam is not its largest city. The former is Hanoi, the great northern city, while the latter is Ho Chi Minh City. Until North and South Vietnam were forcibly reunited with the northern (Communist) victory in the Vietnam War (1945-75), HCMC went by another name: Saigon. While Saigon saw great devastation during the war's final stages, and was subject to "re-education" for decades following, the great entrepot has once again emerged as one of the most important Asian cities. Thoroughly modernized, and with some of the tallest skyscrapers to be found in Southeast Asia, it cuts an impressive figure in this collection of drone videos from the former South Vietnamese capital city.
