Roccascalegna and Passolanciano-Maielletta

The first spot is the Castle of Roccascalegna, a 15th-century castle-fortress perched atop its namesake town in Chieti, the southeasternmost of the four provinces of the Abruzzo Region. Then you'll head a bit to the southeast to the beautiful ski resort area of Passolanciano-Maielletta. The Apennine Mountains cover much of the Abruzzo Region, which lies in the east-central part of the country.
