Castello di Roccascalegna, Abruzzo, Italy, DJI Mini 3 Pro

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot franroldan brings us this excellent aerial video of an important medieval castle in the Appenine Mountains of Italy.  It's called Castello di Roccascalegna, and its located in Chieti, the easternmost of the four provinces which make up the region of Abruzzo.  The castle was built primarily during the 15th and 16th centuries, and played a role in the struggle for control of the region between the forces of the (Spanish) House of Aragon and the (French) House of Capet.

BADGES THIS VIDEO HAS EARNED:

According to a popular tradition, during the 17th century, a member of the Corvo-De Corvis family, during a popular uprising encouraged by Masaniello and Giulio Genoino against the Spanish viceregal regime, supposedly moved from the Court of Naples to his estates in Roccascalegna, where he tried to restore the Ius primæ noctis. Naturally, this would have provoked a rebellion among his subjects, and an unknown person (a boy or a woman) would have sneaked into the castle at night and replaced his consort, killing the feudal lord.
