Castle Tioram, The Highlands, Scotland

Check out this drone video of Scotland's Tioram Castle, compliments of contributor Dronescape. The semi-ruined structure is situated on a small tidal island called Eilean Tioram on Loch Moidart in the western Scottish Highlands. Originally controlled by Clann Ruaidhrí, the castle is believed to date to the 12th century, possibly later. In subsequent times it served as the seat of Clan Macdonald of Clanranald, a branch of Clan Donald. Unoccupied since the Jacobite Uprising of 1715, it's a scheduled monument under UK preservation laws.

My visit to Castle Tioram was during my Summer visit to Scotland, This castle is set in a very remote part of the western Highlands set on the Ardnamurchan Penninsula. Its a bit out of the way, but its worth the journey. The Castle/ Ruin is perched on a mound which can be almost cut off from the mainland at high tide, my visit was during low tide but still looks impressive exposing much of the sands beneath. I plan to revisit this during a different season as the landscape can change here dramatically. Anyway hope you enjoy the video!
