Explore the Australian state of Victoria from above in this fantastic drone video by new AirVuz contributor and pilot SGRvisuals.  Extremely well edited, the video alternates between shots of Melbourne, the Victorian capital and Australia's second-largest city, and views of Victoria's interior and undeveloped stretches of its coastline.  The video was shot with a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone, which weighs less than eight oz. (around 249 g) and is exempt from many drone regulations due to its light weight.  

Returning to AirVuz after a two year hiatus, former Drone Video Award Finalist RavenAir brings us this spectacular drone video from Melbourne, Australia as the great port city endured a lockdown to combat the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in August and September of 2020.  The video features footage of some of the city's top sights, including the Melbourne Shrine, the Royal Exhibition building, the Melbourne Star Ferris wheel, Docklands Stadium, Melbourne Town Hall, West Gate Bridge, Prince's Pier, and more.  

Check out this magnificent drone video of Australia's Great Ocean Road, compliments of top AirVuz contributor hamzamuj.  The road runs for 243 km (about 150 mi.) on the country's southeastern coast in the state of Victoria. The Great Australian Road was built in the years following the First World War and is dedicated to the tens of thousands of Australians who perished in the conflict.  The video features footage from some of the most well-known spots along its course, including Point Addis, Loch Ard Gorge, and Sparks Gully.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Andrew Thomas brings us this fantastic drone video from southeastern Australia.  The video was filmed in the region around the city of Ballarat, about 90 minutes northwest of Melbourne in the state of Victoria.  The areas east and south of the city are part of the Central Highlands, essentially the foothills of the Great Dividing Range; the video also features footage of the plains areas to Ballarat's west and north, which include a number of large (and quite beautiful) lakes.  

Australia's Cape Schanck Lighthouse is one of its most famous.  Seen in this excellent video by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Gizmo Drones, it's located on the Mornington Peninsula, roughly due south of Melbourne.  Completed in 1859, it was the second lighthouse built in the state of Victoria, which covers much of the southeastern corner of the country.   With a tower height of 69 ft. (21 m) and a focal height of 330 ft. (100 m), the still-operational lighthouse aids shipping approaching the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. 

AirVuz contributor Bendigo Aerial brings us this excellent 2020 drone reel from Australia.  The video was filmed over the central part of Victoria, Australia's second-most populous state, which covers the southeastern corner of the country.  Much of the footage is from Bendigo, a mid-sized city located about 150 km (around 90 mi.) north of Melbourne.  Bendigo was near the epicenter of the great Victoria gold boom, which began just a few years after the California Gold Rush and had a similarly transformative effect.  

Check out these drone views from Australia's Bellarine Peninsula, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and pilot Gizmo Drones.  The Bellarine Peninsula is a landform in the southeastern state of Victoria which forms the entrance to Port Phillip Bay, south of Melbourne.  The video features footage from two spots on the peninsula.  The first is the town of Portarlington, which is situated on the northern (Port Phillip Bay) side of the peninsula.  The second is Ocean Grove, which lies on its southern side.  

Cape Schenck is a promontory in Victoria, the Australian state in the southeastern corner of the country.  A well recognized natural sight on the Mornington Penninsula near the Victoria capital city Melbourne, the cape is is brought to life from an aerial perspective by AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Prav0008.  The video, shot with a DJI Phantom 3 Pro drone, includes bird's eye views of the iconic Cape Schenck Lighthouse and the stunning rock formations lying off the coast on the Tasman Sea.

Lake Eildon is the central feature of the Lake Eildon National Park in the Central Highlands region of Victoria, Australia. The 68,600-acre national park is just 69 miles (111 kilometers) northeast of Melbourne. The lake has experienced several droughts in the last 2 decades, leaving considerable economic hardship for the local community, something that may be experienced again with this drought. Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Gizmo Drones brings us this excellent drone video from a spa town in the Australian state of Victoria.  Daylesford is located a bit over an hour's drive northwest of Melbourne.  Like many Victoria towns, Daylesford's roots lie in gold mining, specifically the great Victoria Gold Rush of the mid-19th century.  In more recent times, it's become a getaway vacation for its location in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, a chain of mountains which runs through eastern Australia.

Top contributor RavenAir created this beautiful drone video of Australia's Mt. Buffalo National Park. It's situated in the mountains of the Victoria state, roughly a four hour drive northeast of the Victoria capital city Melbourne.  Opened in 1898 and subsequently expanded, it's one of the oldest national parks in the country.  The centerpiece of the park is Mt. Buffalo, a mountain plateau with a peak height of just over 1.7k meters (around 5.6k ft.) above sea level.  The park is extremely popular with cyclists.

In this piece by AirVuz contributor Bendigo Aerial, you'll get a drone's eye tour of one of the largest cities in the Australian state of Victoria.  The city of Bendigo lies in the middle of the state, the southeasternmost territory of mainland Australia.  Located about 150 km (just over 90 mi.) northwest of Melbourne, it's Victoria's fourth-largest city by population.  Bendigo was the epicenter of the great Victoria gold rush which began in the 1850's and was the most impactful of Australia's great gold rushes.

Top contributor Mattcoq created this marvelous drone video of Somers, a seaside town in the southeastern Australian state of Victoria.  It's located on the eastern side of the Mornington Peninsula, a landform which forms the eastern side of Port Phillip Bay (at the head of which sits the state's principal city of Melbourne).  Somers opens up onto the adjacent Western Port Bay, whose protected waters make for some of the best sailing in Australia.   Somers is also home to a series of beaches, some of the most popular in Australia.

Check out this beautiful drone video from the hinterlands of the Australian state of Victoria.  The video was shot around Riddell's Creek, a town in the region known as the Shire of Macedon Ranges.  It's an area of (in places heavy) forests and iconic looking rock formations, located roughly between Melbourne and Bendigo and east of Ballarat.  Less than a two hour drive from Australia's second-largest city, this area has become one of the top vacation destinations in southeastern Australia.  

Check out this drone video of a beautiful seaside spot in the Australian state of Victoria, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot littleviking.  The town of Anglesea is located near the eastern end of the Great Ocean Road, which was constructed in the years following World War I and which runs for about 240 km (around 150 mi.) from the town of Allansford in the west to Torquay in the east.   Situated about a 90 minute drive southwest of Melbourne, Anglesea is a popular getaway destination from Australia's second-largest city.  

Check out this drone video of Australia's Hanging Rock, compliments of AirVuz contributor Gizmo Drones.  It's located in the middle of the Australian state of Victoria.  Once an oddity known mostly to locals, the rock was immportalized in the 1965 novel Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsey.  The book tells the story of a group of schoolgirls who visit the rock on Valentine's Day in 1900 and vanish.  Later adapted to a screenplay for a 1975 movie of the same name, it's considered one of the greatest novels to come from Australia.  

Maroondah Dam is a concrete gravity dam in southeastern Australia.  It's located on the Watts River near the center of the state of Victoria.  Constructed in the 1920's, its principal purpose is to supply drinking water to Greater Melbourne, the second-largest metropolitan area in Australia.  While the dam and reservoir itself are enclosed by forest and are inaccessible, there's a park (the Maroondah Reservoir Park) which is located just below the dam and which features English style landscaping.  

AirVuz contributor and former Drone Video of the Week Finalist littleviking brings us this excellent drone video from the seaside town of Lorne in southeastern Australia.  Lorne is located in the state of Victoria roughly halfway between the city of Melbourne to the northeast and Cape Otway to the southwest.  It's near the eastern end of the Great Ocean Road, a roughly 240 km (around 150 mi.) roadway which was built following World War I to commemorate the many Australians who fell in the Great War.  

Drone Hunter brings this amazing drone video of an event most people don't know exists - a train race!  The Puffing Billy Railway, a heritage steam line north of Melbourne in Australia's Victoria state, puts on an event every year where two of its steam-driven trains go head to head on the narrow gauge track.  The event is a reminder of the importance of railroads to the development of Victoria, which exploded in a gold mining rush in the 1850s and for a time was Britain's wealthiest colony.

The Mount Macedon Memorial Cross is one of Australia's most important war memorials.  Seen here in this drone video by Gizmo Drones, it's located in the Shire of Macedon Ranges region in the state of Victoria.  Completed in 1935, its primary purpose was to commemorate Australia's war dead during the Great War, as World War I was then known.  Australia sustained casualties of over 200,000 during that conflict (including 60,000 killed), a massive blow to a country which had a population of less than 5 million at the war's outbreak.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Gizmo Drones brings us this excellent drone video of Australia's Werribee Gorge.  The canyon is located in the southeastern state of Victoria, northwest of the city (and state capital) of Melbourne.  It's part of the Werribee Gorge State Park, which was established in 1978.  The canyon has a maximum depth of around 650 ft. or about 200 m.  Formed by the Werribee River in about a million years ago (a short time in geological terms), the river subsequently carved into much older rocks.   

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot Ruben Caser brings us this fantastic FPV video from a well-known lake in the Australian state of Victoria.  The video was filmed flying over Lake Wendouree, an artificial lake in the suburbs of Ballarat, the main city in the Central Highlands region northwest of Melbourne.  Created by damming swampland in the mid-1800's, the lake hosted the canoeing and rowing events at the 1956 Summer Olympics hosted in Melbourne.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list.  

Check out this excellent captioned drone tour of some sights in the Australian state of Victoria, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Giv12.  The first stop is Malmsbury Viaduct in the town of the same name, which spans the Coliban River.  The next stop is the Lal Lal Wind Farm, a renewable energy project under construction near Ballarat.  Then it's on to Clifton Springs, a town on the Ballarine Peninsula, which forms the southwestern side of Port Phillip Bay.  The last sequence is of the historical Victorian Goldfields Railway.  

Check out these excellent drone views of Australia's Phillip Island, compliments of contributor Matthieu Cousin.  Phillip Island is located in the southeastern state of Victoria on the Bass Strait, which separates the Australian mainland from Tasmania.  Phillip Island is a popular tourist destination and weekend getaway easily accessible from the city of Melbourne, which is located about 80 mi. (130 km) to its northwest.  The video was filmed over Pyramid Rock, which is located roughly in the middle of  the island's southern shore. 

Check out this drone video of Australia's You Yangs Regional Park by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Gizmo Drones.  It's named for the You Yangs, a group of rock ridges that rise off of the Werribee Plain northwest of Port Phillip Bay a bit to the west of Melbourne.  While the ridges have a modest height of about 1.05k ft. above sea level (around 320 m), the abruptness of their ascent from the (more or less) sea level flats make them appear considerably taller.  The video was filmed with an Autel Evo 2 drone.  

When it comes to places to practice the art of coastal first person view (FPV) drone flying, it's hard to beat the coast of Victoria in southeastern Australia.  Contributor and FPV pilot Ruben Caser created this beautiful video from the coast along the Great Ocean Road.  The road, which was built in commemoration of Australia's massive World War I losses, runs about 240 km (around 150 mi.) between the towns of Torquay and Allensford.  The former lies just to the west of Melbourne.

Victoria is the second most populated state in Australia. Nestled between South Australia to the west, New South Wales to the north, the Tasman Sea to the east, and the Bass Strait and Tasmania to the south, the state's capital Melbourne is also the second largest city in the country. In this nine-minute compilation, BendigoAerial gives you a glimpse at what makes the state so beautiful.  Most of the video was shot in the central part of the state, north of the capital.
