SNOW HILL

Drone Adam...

Check out these wintertime drone views from the mountains of northwestern Turkey, compliments of AirVuz contributor Drone Adam.  The video was filmed around the town of Kartepe in the Kocaeli Province of the East Marmara Region.  Kartepe is located in a hilly-to-mountainous area between the Gulf of İzmit (the eastern extension of the Sea of Marmara) and Lake Sapanca.  The name "Kartepe" translates roughly to "snowy hills", and when you watch the video you'll see it's an appropriate name for this winter wonderland.

Yeniçağa Lake - Bolu / Türkiye (Only On AirVūz)

mehmeterde...

New AirVuz contributor mehmeterdem brings us this excellent drone video from a lake area in northwestern Turkey.  It's called Yeniçağa, and it's located near its namesake town in the Province of Bolu, just east of the provincial (and namesake) capital city.  This is roughly a three hour drive east of Istanbul, and a somewhat shorter distance north of the national capital, Ankara.  In contrast to the high density of the country's two largest cities, rural Bolu Province is a lightly-populated land of low mountains, lake, and forests.

Winter in Bolu

Mehmet AKY...

When you see this beautiful wintertime drone video by AirVuz contributor akyuzz videography, you might think you were flying over the hills of the USA's New England region or perhaps somewhere in Scandinavia.  In fact, the snow-covered forest featured in the video is in the Middle Eastern nation of Turkey.  It was filmed in the province of Bolu in the East Marmara region of northwestern Turkey, east of the Gulf of İzmir.   Roughly halfway between Istanbul and Ankara, the province's highlands experience a full-blown winter.

Contributor Korayus used a drone to record an epic hike to the peak of one of Turkey's most important mountains.  Mt. Uludağ is located in the province of Bursa in the northwestern part of the country.  With a peak elevation of about 2.55k meters (just over 8.3k ft.) above sea level, it is the highest mountain in the entire Marmara region.  The mountain is known as Olympos in Greek, and like its "cousin" mountain in northern Greece, Uludağ was once home to numerous Eastern Orthodox monasteries.

Kartepe Aerial

Contributor Tntrmedia created this beautiful wintertime drone video of an area near the town of Kartepe in northwestern Turkey. The area lies between the Gulf of Kocaeli (an eastern extension of the Sea of Marmara) and Lake Sapanca, one of the largest lakes of the Marmara region.  It's part of the Kocaeli province, which covers much of the area to the east of the Sea of Marmara.  As you'll see in the video, the area around Kartepe is one of the beautiful forested mountains, a true winter wonderland.

AirVuz contributor and pilot Atamer.Medya brings us this marvelous wintertime drone video of the Turkish town of Gölyazı.  The town sits at the tip of a narrow peninsula on the northeastern shore of Lake Uluabat, one of Turkey's larger freshwater lakes, which is located south of the Sea of Marmara and west of the city of Bursa in the (northwestern) region of Marmara.  The town of Gölyazı dates to the Antiquity; it was founded by Greek colonists but also bears imprints of later Roman influence.

Bolu Golcuk Nature Park from Above

Fly.Payyu...

The Golcuk Nature Park is one of the natural treasures of northwestern Turkey.  It's located roughly midway between Istanbul and Ankara, the country's two largest cities.  The park is part of the Bolu Province, part of the East Marmara Region, which is known for its forested mountains.  Shot during the autumn months, the landscapes here bear some resemblance to the USA's New England region or Scandinavia; most people seeing this video would guess that it was filmed in the Middle Eastern nation of Turkey.

Osmangazi Bridge II Bosphorus

Atamer.Med...

One of Turkey's fundamental geographic constraints is the isolation of Istanbul (by far its largest city) imposed by the Sea of Marmara.  That changed greatly with the opening in 2016 of the Osmangazi Bridge, seen here in this drone video by contributor and pilot Atamer.medya.  Spanning the Gulf of İzmit (the eastern extension of the Sea of Marmara), the 2.7k meter (8.8k ft.) suspension bridge nearly halved the travel time between Istanbul and Bursa, Turkey's #4 city and biggest industrial center.
