Drone Videos of France's Brittany Region

Take a tour of the storied Brittany region of northwestern France in this fantastic piece by top AirVuz contributor Julien Hulin.  The video opens with some shots from the deep woods of the region, which is home to some of the last remaining ancient forests of France.  Among the other highlights of the video, at about the :36 mark, there's a great shot of Fort-la-Latte, which lies on a peninsula of the Emerald Coast near Saint-Malo.  This video was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in March, 2022.  

For a bird's eye view of the Brittany region of northwestern France, it's hard to beat this video by contributor Lewieque.  Shot with a Mavic Pro drone, the video features footage from across the Breton Peninsula, which is the heart of the region.  With epic shots of the province's famous rocky shorelines, bridges, the ancient city of Brest at its western extreme, and the one-time pirate enclave of Saint-Malo on its northern coast, the video will give you a flavor of this distinctive Celtic region.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of a beautiful spot on France's Emerald Coast, compliments of top contributor Julien Hulin.  The video was filmed near Saint Lunaire, a town which lies roughly in the middle of the Emerald Coast, just west of the famous "pirate port" of Saint-Malo.  The Côte d'Émeraude stretches for about 40 km (around 25 mi.) between Cap Fréhel and Cancale on the northern side of the Breton Peninsula, in the Department of Ille-et-Vilaine.  This video was a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week in July, 2020.

This epic drone video of Brittany in France by contributor and pilot Karl Veca begins with a great shot of the famous Mont Saint-Michel island, which actually lies in the neighboring region of Normandy.  The majority of the footage is of the cities and towns of Brittany, which is a major population center in France as well as a large agricultural producer.  The video will give you a sense of the rich cultural history of the province, which was an independent kingdom for centuries before consolidating with France.

The video opens with an amazing shot of the Plougastel Bridge (also known as the Albert-Louppe Bridge), which crosses the Elorn River near Brest, the port city at the western end of the Breton Peninsula. From there you will be taken over a number of other spots on the coast and interior of this fascinating land, which is one of the most culturally distinctive regions of France.

Drink in these magnificent drone views of France's Pink Granite Coast, compliments of top AirVuz contributor Thibault Poriel.  The Pink Granite Coast is the unofficial name for a stretch of coastline on the northern side of the Breton Peninsula in Brittany.  It runs for about 30 km (a bit under 20 mi.) between the communes of Plestin-les-Grèves and Louannec in the Côtes-d'Armor Department.  The video features footage of some of the top spots on this fabled coast, including Trégastel, Perros-Guirec, île Renote, Ploumanac'h, and Saint Guirec.

Take in these stunning aerial views from the heart of France's Brittany region, compliments of AirVuz contributor Julien Hulin.  The video was shot around  Lake (Lac de) Guerlédan, an artificial lake which straddles the departments of Morbihan and Côtes-d'Armor, near the middle of the Breton Peninsula.  Constructed in the 1920's in connection with its namesake dam, the lake has a surface area of about 4 square km (around a square mi.) and is the largest artificial lake in Brittany.  This was a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in June, 2020.

Top content creator and pilot Mattcoq created this beautiful drone video of Morbihan, a department of France in its Brittany region.  It's situated on the southern coast of the Breton Peninsula extending some ways inland.  The video was filmed in the inland parts of the department, an area of forests interspersed with lush green meadows and crossed by numerous streams.  The highly cinematic video brings out the unusually appealing colors of the area, which appears as if out of a fairy tale.

Check out these magnificent drone views of France's Breton Peninsula, compliments of AirVuz contributor Julien Hulin.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, the video beautifully captures a stretch of the peninsula's northern coastline in Ille-et-Vilaine, the easternmost of the four departments of the official Brittany Region.  The area filmed is between the "pirates' den" port of Saint-Malo to the west and the town of Cancale to the east.  It's an area of stunning natural coastal beauty, replete with cliffs, secluded beaches, and small bays.

Contributor and pilot Thibault Poriel created this amazing drone video of the most extreme western part of France.  At the tip of the peninsula of Brittany in northwestern France is a small department called Finistere.  Its name roughly translates to "End of the World".  When you see what the department looks like on a map of France, one can understand why.  The video features bird's eye views of the spectacular rock formations of Finistere, which is also home to the famous seafaring town of Brest.

Top contributor Lewique brings us the long-awaited part II of his series from the Brittany region of northwestern France.  The video opens with an excellent shot of Pointe du Raz, a rocky point at at the western end of the southern branch of the Breton Peninsula, southwest of Brest.  Another featured spot is the port of Saint-Malo, the great "pirates' port" on the north side of the peninsula.  You'll also be treated to some great aerial views of the Pink Granite Coast, a famous stretch of coastline west of Saint-Malo.

Top contributor Mattcoq created this magnificent drone video of an unusual-looking harbor on the Atlantic coast of Brittany, France.  Gulf of Morbihan is situated in the department of the same name, the southernmost of the four which comprise the region of Brittany.  The harbor, whose name translates to "Little Sea" is distinguished by the many small islands which are spread throughout it, many of them tidal in nature.  It's also known for being the site of some of the oldest ruins in France.

This fantastic drone video by Lewieque begins with a flyover of the great Mont-St. Michel monastery-fortress on a tidal island in Normandy, but the star of this particular show is a bit further south - the walled city of St. Malo, the former "pirates' den" which sits at the mouth of the La Rance River in northern Brittany.  The video also features some great views of the late 17th century National Fortress which sits on a tidal island just offshore from St. Malo, as well as the nearby town of Cancale.

Check out this stunning drone video of a bay on the Breton Peninsula in northwestern France, compliments of arsovicy.  It's called Morlaix Bay, and it's a "W" shaped inlet on the northern coast of the peninsula in Finistère, the westernmost department of the Brittany region (and the country as a whole).  The video includes footage of the bay's islands as well as the town of Carantec which sits in the middle of the "W".  The bay lies just to the west of the more well known Pink Granite Coast.  

Top contributor Freeway Prod created this magnificent drone video of a group of islands off the coast of Northwestern France.  The Glénan is a group of nine major islands which are situated to the south of Finistère, which is on the western tip of the Breton Peninsula.  Intermixed with the major islands are a group of about a dozen smaller ones.   The islands are a popular day-trip destination for visitors to the Peninsula, although there is no lodging on them and camping is prohibited.

France's Emerald Coast (Côte d'Emeraude) refers to a section on the northern side of the Breton Peninsula between Cap Fréhel in the west and the town of Cancale in the east, in the Côtes-d'Armor Department.  The coast, which takes its name from the color of the sea at times, also includes the spectacular walled town of Saint-Malo, which is situated closer to the middle of the fantastically complex-looking coastline here.  Check out the beautiful coastline from above in this drone video by Enciesdailleurs.eu.

Drone pilot Thibault Poriel heads west in this drone film to the Brittany region in France.  We often see views of its Atlantic coastline and quaint fishing port towns, but this aerial footage takes us into the mountains and forests in the interior of the region.  Warm sunlight strikes across the raw natural features of the landscape that's in the middle of transitioning into the cold winter months ahead.  Take in the aerial views of this region, one of the most culturally distinctive in France.

Check out this beautiful drone video from the Breton Peninsula in northwestern France, compliments of contributor droneballade.  Locquémeau is located near the western end of the coast of the Côtes-d'Armor department, which take up most of the northern coast of this peninsula that is part of the Brittany region.  It lies just to the east of Finistère, the department which translates to "the end of the world" in reference to its position as the westernmost point of mainland France.  

Explore the French region of Brittany in this outstanding travel drone video by AirVuz contributor rvr_spaark.  At the :25 mark, you'll see the Kermorvan Lighthouse, one of the westernmost lighthouses in France.  At :40, you'll see the town of Guérande, near the southern base of the Breton Peninsula, followed by the fortress adjacent to Kermorvan Lighthouse.  At the 2:06 mark, you'll see the Houat Island on Quiberon Bay, also on Brittany's southern side.  Other featured locations include La Torche, Trégana, and the Vilaine River.  

The French region of Brittany takes its name from the Breton Peninsula, a land mass which juts into the North Atlantic from the "mainland" and covers over 34k square km (just over 13k square mi.) - roughly 10% larger than the territory of Belgium.  In this drone video, you'll see some of the amazing sights of this distinctive region.  It begins with the Bay of Morlaix in Finistère on the north side of the peninsula, and ends at Gulf of Morbihan in the Morbihan Department, on the south side.  

One of the great natural attractions of France's Brittany region is a roughly 30 km (around 20 mi.) stretch of coastline on the northern side of the Breton Peninsula called the Pink Granite Coast.  Known locally as the Côte de Granit Rose, it's so named due to the coloring of its sands and rock formations.  This drone video by content creator and pilot gerardgiroux features some great aerial footage of the Pink Granite Coast, including the Ploumanac'h Lighthouse; the structure was completed in 1860.

The French commune of Plouha has many notable medieval chapels and churches. Located in the northwestern corner of France in the region of Brittany, its beaches played an important role in World War II. It was here that French Resistance groups bravely sheltered Allied troops so they were able to return to Great Britain. The town is part of the Côtes-d'Armor Department.  See those infamous beaches and Plouha’s spectacular coastline in this drone video by pilot dronedeballade.

Creator LeVoyagedesKoumoul created this spectacular drone video of a little known area in northwestern France.  While the Brittany region is rightfully associated with the sea, it is also home to the Monts d'Arrée, a small mountain range.  Far less visited than the well known port cities of Breton, these beautiful peaks rise gracefully from the plain that covers much of the range's immediate surroundings.  In this video, you'll get a bird's eye view of this spectacular area which lies off the beaten path.  

Despite its name, Île-Grande is a rather small island situated off the northern coast of the Breton Peninsula in western France.  It's situated toward the western end of the coastline of Côtes-d'Armor, the northernmost of the four departments which make up the country's official Brittany region.  In this drone video by top contributor LeVoyagedesKoumoul, you'll get a bird's eye view of the island, which is part of the commune of Pleumeur-Bodou and which measures about two km long by about a km wide (around 1.2 x .6 mi.).  

The star of this drone video by capitaine citron is the La Vieille Lighthouse near the western extremity of France.  It is situated on a tiny islet just off the tip of Pointe du Raz in Finistère, the westernmost department of Brittany and Metropolitan France. The lighthouse protects the eastern side of the Raz de Sein Strait, a particularly dangerous stretch of water which must be crossed to enter the port of Brest from the south.  Completed in 1887, the lighthouse stands 27 meters tall (89 ft.).

Check out this stunning drone video of France's Cap Fréhel, a rocky peninsula which is one of the top sights of the Brittany region.  The cape anchors the western end of the Emerald Coast (Côte d'Émeraude), a stretch of coastline on the Gulf of Saint-Malo which runs east to the area around Mont St. Michel.  The video features epic aerial views of the gulf's rocky coastline, the cape's two lighthouses, and the 13th century castle Fort-la-Latte, which lies at the end of the southern of the cape's two tips.  

The French region of Brittany was once covered almost entirely by a dense forest.  Over the centuries, the ongoing march of civilization reduced a vast land of trees to a small area called the Forest of Brocéliande.  It's located around the village of Paimpont in Ille-et-Vilaine, the easternmost of the four Departments of Brittany and the only one not on the Breton Peninsula.  Sometimes called the Paimpont Forest, you can check it out from above in this fantastic drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot Julien Hulen.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor ClemCaro22 brings us this aerial tour the stunning Cap Fréhel peninsula in northwestern France.  Cap Fréhel is a promontory that lies on the northern side of the Breton Peninsula, in the Côtes-d'Armor department.   This is a remote slice of Brittany; the peninsula itself is uninhabited but for two adjacent lighthouses, both of which can be seen in the video.  The shorter lighthouse was built in the 17th century while the taller one dates to the mid-20th century.  

France's Saint Pierre Beach is located near the town of Locmariaquer in the Morbihan Department of the Brittany region.  The area forms the western entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan, which (according to legend) has as many islands as there are days in the year.   That figure is actually an exxageration - the gulf is actually home to about 40 islands.  In this drone video by contributor and pilot Mattcoq, you'll get a bird's eye view of Saint Pierre and its surroundings, home to some of Europe's oldest human remains.

Ploumanac'h is a small harbor town in the heart of France's so-called Pink Granite Coast, an area on the northern side of the Breton Peninsula in Côtes-d'Armor, the northernmost of the four departments of the Brittany Region. The famed coastline (Côte de Granit Rose) is so named for the spectacular rock formations to be found here.  Check out this drone video by LeVoyagedesKoumoul of the town, voted the best French village in a survey conducted by the national newspaper Le Télégramme.

It's likely many centuries since the fabled French seaside town of Saint-Malo has been as empty as it appears in this drone video by Wanaii Films.  The onetime pirate stronghold on the Breton Peninsula, one of the top attractions in northwestern France, was a virtual ghost-town in the Spring of 2020 due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.  The novel coronavirus infection rate was initially lower than in Italy and Spain, but by the first week of April France was catching up to its southern neighbors.

Enjoy these excellent aerial views of the Brittany region of France, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Mattcoq.  The video was filmed over the Conleau Peninsula, which is actually a small island connected by a short causeway just south of the town of Vannes in Morbihan, the southernmost of the four departments which make up the official region of Brittany.  The peninsula extends into the Gulf of Morbihan, a natural peninsula on the south side of the Breton Peninsula which opens up into the Bay of Biscay.  

Top contributor and drone pilot Mattcoq created this excellent bird's eye view of a well-known country manor in the Brittany region of northwestern France.  It's called the Manoir de Boyac, and it's located near the town of Ploërmel in Morbihan, one of the departments that make up the region of Brittany.  While the manor is a registered landmark and thus protected under French laws, it's privately owned and not open to the public.  Until that changes, watching this video is the best way to view it!   

Given the close association between France's Brittany region and the sea, it's perhaps not surprising that it's the country's surfing capital.  The southern side of the Breton Ocean faces the open ocean, and while it's definitely wetsuit-only swim country, a thriving surfing scene has developed here.  In this drone video by Mattcoq, you'll get a bird's eye view of a surfing  session at Point de la Torche.  It's a small promontory near the western end of the peninsula, more or less due south of Brest.

Talented content creator XL Creations brings us this excellent drone video from the Birttany region of France.  The video was shot over the north coast of the Breton Peninsula.  Featured locations include the commune of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, Pointe du Chevet, the tidal island of Mont-Saint-Michel (which actually lies just over the regional border with Normandy), Ile du Petit Chevret, Mordreuc, the "pirate town" of Saint Malo, Cancale, Pointe aux Chevres, the lighthouse of Cap Frehel, Pointe du Grouin and La Rance.

Here's a beautiful drone video from a seaside resort town in France's Brittany region, compliments of franck.  It's called Sables-d'Or-les-Pins, and it's located in the Fréhel commune in Côtes-d'Armor, the northernmost of the four departments which make up the official Brittany (Bretagne) region of metropolitan northwestern France.  The town of Sables-d'Or-les-Pins was created in the early 1920's.  It's a quiet, family-oriented spot, located a bit to the east of the better-known Pink Granite Coast. 

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor brings us this excellent drone video from the French island Ile De Bréhat.  It's actually a two-island archipelago which lies off the Pink Granite Coast, a stretch of the northern side of the Breton Peninsula which (as its name suggests) is distinguished by its pink-tinged rocks.  The two islands together cover about three square km (around a square mi.) and have a full-time population of around 300.  The islands and adjoining coast are part of the Côtes-d'Armor Department in Brittany.  

France's Emerald Coast (Côte d'Émeraude) in the French region of Brittany is anchored by Cap Fréhel, the westernmost of three small peninsulas which extend in a northeasterly direction into the Atlantic.  In this drone video by dronedeballade, you'll get an aerial glimpse of a beautiful town at the base of on the eastermost end of the group.  It's called Paimpol.  Seen here in this drone video by droneballade, you'll see the area around Paimpol, including the tiny Bréhat islands which lie just offshore. 

AirVuz contributor rvr+spaark brings us this excellent drone video from a beautiful spot on the coast of northwestern France.  The video was filmed over and around the Kermorvan Lighthouse, which lies at the very western tip of the Breton Peninsula, a few mi./km west of the port city of Brest.  Just to the east of the lighthouse, and also featured in the video, is a now-abandoned fortress which dates to the mid-19th century to protect the approaches to Brest, traditionally the most important Atlantic base of the French Navy.  

Explore France's Emerald Coast from above in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor fdescds92.  The Emerald Coast runs along the northern side of the Breton Peninsula in the northwestern part of the country, running roughly from town of Cancale in the Villain Department west to the peninsula Cap Fréhel in the neighboring department of Côtes-d'Armor.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone specifically over and around the commune of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, which lies just east of Cap Fréhel.  

The Brittany region of northwestern France is home to some of Europe's most spectacular coastal scenery, so it's perhaps no surprise that it's become something of a magnet for skilled first person view (FPV) drone pilots.  In this outstanding piece by brand new contributor See My View, you'll be treated to some epic views from the coast of Côtes-d'Armor, which covers the northern coast of the Breton Peninsula and is one of the four departments which make up the official region of Brittany.  

Top contributor LeVoyagedesKoumoul created this amazing drone video of a legendary spot on France's Breton Peninsula, in the northwestern part of the country.  It's the area around the town of La Torche, which sits on the Bay of Audierne, southwest of the city of Quimper in the Finistère Department.  The bay is known around the world for its kitesurfing scene, which you'll see in the video.  Also featured are some of the flower fields which dot the landscape here in the far western reaches of France's Brittany region.

Here's a nice 4k aerial tour of one of the most famous castles in France's Brittany region, compliments of Viajes Lost Planet.  It's called Josselin Castle, and it's located in the town of the same name in Morbihan, one of Brittany's four Departments.  The current structure was built in the late 14th century, on the site of an earlier castle.  Partially demolished by the Duke of Brittany in the late 1400's, it was restored and played an important role in the religious wars which raged through France in the 16th century.  

The bright yellows, intense oranges, deep purples and cotton candy pinks seen in this 4K FPV video along the shores of northwestern France can't be beat. Dams Diesel has some serious flow in this video, which was shot along the coast of Brittany, the hilly peninsula that extends into the North Atlantic and is one of the country's most distinctive regions.  Just as ships have had to navigate Brittany's rocky shores for centuries, so the racing quad has to maneuver around the many rocks which lie just offshore here.  

Château de Suscinio is one of the most famous castle in the Brittany region of northwestern France.  It's located in the commune of Sarzeau in Morbihan, one of the Departments of the Brittany region.  Seen in this outstanding drone video by top AirVuz contributor Mattcoq, Château de Suscinio dates to the 13th century.  During the 15th century, the castle served as the home of the future King Henry VII of England, as well as hundreds of Lancastrians who were exiled following the War of the Roses.  

For a first upload, new contributor Ageff Prod Marc Geffroy brings us this excellent drone video from France's Brittany region.  The video wsa filmed in the area around Pointe du Raz, a promontory which lies at the western tip of the southern of the two "prongs" into which the western tip of the Breton Peninsula is split, in the department of Finistère.  Featured locations also include the peninsula of Pointe du Van, the Bay of the Dead (Baie de Trépassés), the commune of Plogoff, the Pors Péron campsite, and the Pointe de Luguénez.

France's Breton Peninsula is home to some of the most treacherous stretches of coastlines in Western Europe.  Not surprisingly, lighthouses have long played an important role in this seafaring region.  In this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor gerardgiroux, you'll be treated to aerial views of some of Brittany's (and indeed France's) most iconic lighthouses, including Phare de Mean Ruz in Ploumanac'h,  Phare do Paon in Île-de-Bréhat, Phare du Petit Minou in Plouzane, Phare de Kermorvan in Le Conquet, and more.  

Check out these fantastic drone views from the estuary of the La Rance River in the French region of Brittany, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Julien Hulin.  The video was filmed around the remains of an old Viking settlement near the village of Saint-Suliac.  The spot is a bit upstream (south) of the river's mouth at St. Malo in Ille-et-Vilaine, the easternmost of Brittany's four departments.  Like the neighboring region of Normandy, Brittany was under Viking control for several centuries during the Middle Ages.

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Mattcoq brings us this stunning drone video from northwestern France.  The video was shot at sunrise over the Gulf of Morbihan, a natural harbor on the southern side of the Breton Peninsula in the department of Morbihan, the southernmost of the four departments of the official region of Brittany.  The gulf has about 40 islands, depending on the tides.  It is connected to the Atlantic Ocean (Quiberon Bay) via a <1 mi. gap between the Rhuys Peninsula and the mainland.   

The last vestige of a vast wooded area which once covered most of France's Brittany region, the Paimpont Forest is believed to be the Brocéliande Forest of Arthurian Legend.  According to the medieval literature, the forest was the location of the Valley of No Return (Val sans retour) home of the enchantress Morgan le Fay.  In this highly cinematic drone video by AirVuz contributor Julien Hulin, you'll get a drone's eye view of this "legendary" spot, which is situated in Ille-et-Vilaine, the easternmost of the four Departments of Brittany.

Here's a beautiful drone view of France's Ria d'Etel, a gulf on France's Breton Peninsula.  The video was filmed over the Île de Saint-Cado, an island of the gulf, which is located in the department of Morbihan, which covers much of the southern side of the peninsula.  It's located roughly halfway between the city of Nantes to the east and the town of Brest at the western tip of the Breton Peninsula, which separates the English Channel (to the north) from the Bay of Biscay (to the south), in the northwestern part of the country.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor GFT PRODUCTION brings us this stunning drone video of a remote spot on the coast of northwestern France.  It's called Cap Fréhel, and it's a peninsula which extends north from the larger Breton Peninsula in the coastal region known as the Emerald Coast (Côte d'Émeraude) in the Côtes-d'Armor Department.  The uninhabited cape has just two structures, both of which you'll see in the video: a 17th century lighthouse, and its 20th century replacement.  

In this short drone video by poulain35, you'll get an amazing aerial view of the storied city of Saint-Malo in western France.  It's a walled port town on the northern shore of the Breton Peninsula.  St. Malo is closely associated with the seamier side of Brittany's seafaring tradition: piracy.  The protective barrier created by the town's fortifications permitted a pirate community to thrive here until well into the 19th century.  The city was heavily damaged during the World War II Allied invasion of France in 1944.
