Drone Videos of Fall Colors

Contributor davidaguilar is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community; as of November, 2020, he's won the Drone Video of the Week on three separate occasions, and his piece "Magic Iceland" was the People's Choice winner at the second annual Drone Video Awards.  All good reasons to watch this magnificent video he created from the French and Swiss Alps.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Air drone at the height of the Fall color season, the video provides epic glimpses of some of the world's most beautiful scenery.  

AirVuz contributor Jarne Buttiens returns after a two year hiatus with this stunning Fall drone video from Belgium.  The video was shot over Flemish Brabant, one of the provinces which makes up the Flanders region, the (largely) Dutch-speaking northern half of the country.  Filmed or near the height of the Autumn colors, the video captures the beauty of the Belgian countryside around the towns of Rotselaar, Aarschot, Holsbeek, and Leuven.  This video was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in November of 2021.  

The geography of Romania is largely defined by the Carpathian Mountains.  The great range dominates the landscape of the northern and central parts of the country, defining the boundaries of the region of Transylvania.  The various sub-ranges of the Carpathians in Romania also offer some of Europe's most captivating alpine scenery.  To see what we mean, check out this fantastic drone video of the Romanian Carpathians by top AirVuz contributor and pilot Eaglewood Pictures.  This video won Drone Video of the Week in October 2020.

AirVūz contributor and drone pilot Kpax filmed this gorgeous video of Switzerland's Lago di Cama and the surrounding mountains during peak fall foliage.  The tiny lake, which only covers about 13 hectares, 32 acres) is located in Grisons, Switzerland's easternmost canton and its largest by land area.  With a surface elevation of 1.265k meters above sea level (around 4.15k ft.), the lake is part of the alpine valley known as Valle Mesolcina. This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in October of 2020.
 

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist timoksanen brings us this spectacular drone video from Finland's Lapland region at the height of the Fall colors season.  The video was filmed around the town of Kilpisjärvi, which is part of the municipality of Enontekiö in the far northwestern corner of this Scandinavian country.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, it was filmed in mid-September, with the short summer already a distant memory.   The latitude here is about 69 degrees north, putting it well inside the Arctic Circle.  

Top AirVūz contributors and pilots DroneProduction.ru take us on a fantastic journey over the Caucasus Mountains in southern Russia to see the autumn colors during sunset. Filmed just a bit to the northeast of the Black Sea city of Sochi,  this aerial film offers breathtaking sights of the Krasnaya Polyana, area which was hosted numerous skiing and snowboarding venues for the 2014 Winter Olympics.  This video was selected as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week in in October of 2020.

The USA's New England region is known in part for its Fall colors, which bring in millions of visitors each year.  The tiny state of Vermont is home to some of the most brilliant displays of Autumn.  In this video, top contributor Jturner treats us to an aerial view of Fall in the state of Vermont with footage of Warren falls, Brag Hill, Airport road, Lincoln Gap, Appalachian Gap, Mount Abraham, Lincoln Peak, and Sugarbush resort. This video was a Drone Video of the Week nominee in October of  2020. 

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Award winner Muhamad AbuShakra has created some of the world's finest aerial videos of the Alps region of Europe.  He has filmed these majestic mountains from all of the countries which they cover, and during all seasons.  In this magnificent piece, he captures the beauty of the region during the Fall color season.  Featuring footage from Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Italy, this video was voted as the winner for the Drone Video of the Week in November, 2019.

Check out these stunning Autumn aerial views of the French Jura Mountains, compliments of top contributor Capchure.ch.  The mountains lie just north of Lake Geneva, on both French and Swiss territory.  Contrary to what many believe, they are not connected to the Alps system which lies to the south of the Jura's.  On the French side, most of the Jura's lie within the Jura Department, which is part of the historical region of Franche-Comté and is now part of the larger official region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

See Big Cottonwood Canyon in its fall splendour via this incredible drone video by contributor and pilot RobSkyHigh. Not to be confused with Cottonwood Canyon State Park in Oregon, Big Cottonwood Canyon is a gorge in the Wasatch Range, just over 10 miles (a bit over 15 km) southeast of Sale Lake City, Utah. The 15 mile (25 km) long canyon is a popular ski, hike, and bike area, plus has magnificent views even for those just driving through the area. This video showcases the area during one of the most beautiful seasons: fall. 

Khuisiin Naiman Lake is a large freshwater body in the landlocked Northeast Asian country of Mongolia.  The oddly-shaped lake is located near the geographic center of the country, to the southwest of the capital city Ulan Bator.  The lake sits nearly 2.4k meters (about 8k ft) above sea level on the Great Mongolian Plateau, one of the most important geological features of Central Asia.  Contributor Bagi Max used a drone to create an unforgettable aerial tour of this incredibly beautiful place during the peak of Autumn colors. 

While Alaska is usually associated with winter, the gigantic USA state has areas in its southern portions with much more temperate climates and millions of deciduous (leaf-bearing) trees.  In these areas, while Fall is a relatively short period between a short summer and a long winter, the landscape turns to brilliant colors in this period.  Content creator and drone pilot Alaska42 gives us a marvelous bird's eye view of an Alaskan Fall in this amazing drone video, filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro.

Canada's western province of British Columbia has some of the highest concentration of trees in North America.  While many are of the coniferous variety, the province also has large areas of deciduous trees which turn to brilliant colors in the Fall Season.  Contributor and pilot Aerial Eye Visuals gives us an epic look at the Fall colors along BC's Squamish River in this amazing drone video. The Squamish is a short but very powerful river in BC which drains a large area of the Coast Mountains.

The Czech Republic is known in part for its dense forests, which cover much of the countryside.  This is particularly true in Bohemia, the country's western region and its historical core.  Goings on in these ancient forests (or myths thereof) have been the subject of children's fairytales for centuries.  In this video, top contributor Ludoweet flies a drone through one of these magical forests.  Shot at the outset of the fall season, the endless trees present as a brilliant mix of orange and green.    

Autumn in the USA's New England region is a magical time.  Beginning in late September, the largest forested areas of the region turn to brilliant hues, and draw large numbers of tourists seeking views of the fall scenery.  In this video, top contributor and drone pilot Peter Bloch shows us the wonder of Fall in New England.  Shot in 4k, the video features top-down shots of geese before they depart south for warmer weather, panning shots of the deep red and orange forests, as well as shots flying through those same trees. 

The Smoky Mountain range in the United States is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which in turn is part of the Appalachian system.  Among other distinctions, the Smoky's are home to some of the most spectacular fall scenery in the country.  The range covers parts of several  southeastern states in rolling forested mountains that turn brilliant colors from mid-September through October.  Top contributor used a drone to film these beautiful mountains in the state of Tennessee at the height of the Fall color season.    

One of the things which distinguish the Carpathian Mountains from the taller Alps Mountains to their west is the nature of the tree cover.  With their lower altitudes, the eastern range has a much higher mix of deciduous trees (i.e. trees with leaves) vs. coniferous trees.  Among other things, this gives rise to a stunning change of colors in the fall.  Contributor and pilot BearSkillz captured this to beautiful effect in this stunning drone video of the Romanian Carpathians during this magical turn of seasons.

Top AirVuz contributor Rlardon took his DJI Mavic drone on a hike into the Swiss Alps at Zermatt to create this stunning aerial video of the region at the end of the Autumn season.  The video includes drone footage of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Lyskamm, Breithorn, Mischabel, Dent Blanche and Weisshorn, as well as the mighty Gornergletscher, the colourful larches of the Lötschental and the snowy peaks above Kandersteg.  Zermatt is in the southwestern part of the country, near the Italian border.

While the upper elevations of the Rocky Mountains in the western United States are either above the tree line or limited to coniferous (ie, non leaf-bearing) trees.  At somewhat lower altitudes though, you'll find vast stretches of deciduous trees which turn to brilliant colors before the fierce winter snowstorms arrive.  In this video, contributor and pilot Robinsaville used a DJI Inspire drone to capture some brilliantly colored valleys in the Rocky Mountains near Salt Lake City, Utah.    

The Tatras Mountains, the highest of the Carpathian range, form the border between Slovakia and Poland to its north.  The highest of the Tatras lies in Slovakia and reaches an altitude of 2.7k meters above sea level (8.7k ft).  In this video by contributor Eaglewood Films, you will soar above the pure beauty of the Slovakian mountain wilderness from the view of a drone, at the height of the Fall season. Watch it and you'll see why these mountains have become one of the hottest tourist destinations in Europe.

Known for its picturesque, snowy winters and vibrant fall foliage, Quebec is an eastern, mostly French-speaking province of Canada. Home to Montreal (the world's largest French-speaking city after Paris), the UNESCO world heritage site Old Quebec City, and the Adirondack Mountains, the province is well worth the trip - especially in the fall. The rich reds, golden yellows and vibrant organges pop against the lush, green pines and clear, blue sky as seen in this stunning video by Alex AirTravel.

Enontekiö is a municipality in the Lapland region of northern Finland.  Enontekiö occupies a sort of "land peninsula" which is sandwiched between Sweden to the south and west and Norway to the north.  The region is one of the most sparsely populated in Europe: covering almost 8k square km (around 3k square mi.), it's home to fewer than 2,000 inhabitants.   Contributor timoksanen was nominated for the Drone Video of the Week for this beautiful Fall piece from this magical spot well above the Arctic Circle.  

Jamnik is a town in the mountains of northwestern Slovenia.  It's a forested area which lies on a plateau that marks the eastern extent of the Julian Alps, the great range which covers northwestern Slovenia, the far northeastern corner of Italy, and parts of Austria.  Jamnik is part of the Upper Carniola Region, one of the seven which make up this country which had been part of the Yugoslav Federation.  In this video, you will get a bird's eye view of this stunning alpine setting, compliments of contributor and pilot Kolman Aerial. 

The Baltic Republic of Lithuania is known for having some of the most spectacular Fall colors landscape in Europe.  Set on the vast East European Plain and heavily forested, the Lithuanian countryside experiences an early but full-throated expression of Autumn.  In this drone video by contributor bailongas, you will get some aerial glimpses of this magnificent display of fall colors.  The video was shot along one of the country's many rivers, with both river and trees covered in a thin layer of mist.

Known for being one of the best locations in the United States to see the leaves change, the northeastern state of New Hampshire looks marvelous in this Drone Video of the Month Staff Pick by contributor armando_martinez. Whether it be shots of the sun peaking over the mountains, close-up, reveal, and top-down shots of the fall foliage, or panoramics of the colors mirrored along the water, contributor and drone pilot Armandom's video knocks it out of the park with these epic scenes from the heart of the New England region.  

A great way to lose yourself in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York is to lightly row down stream and see where the current takes you. That's th3venture's approach in this fantastic aerial adventure through this storied region with his crew. Seeing them explore the region's many natural and recreational attractions, from kayaking, to hiking and camping, will inspire you to hit the great outdoors with your drone.  The Adirondacks cover a portion of northeastern New York State and are considered part of the Appalachian system.

With some of the most pristine areas of forest in Europe, it's not surprising that the Baltic country of Latvia presents some incredible visuals in the Fall season.  In this video by top contributor Jurgis Kreilis, you will see some of this landscape from a bird's eye point of view.  One of the first videos uploaded to AirVuz that was shot with the new DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, you will fly over some of the country's fabled wooded and wetland areas during what is generally considered the country's best season.  

The province of Ontario is home to some of Canada's largest westlands.  They cover much of the central and northern part of the province, where bogs and marshy areas abound amidst thousands of lakes and millions of acres of pristine forests.  In this drone video by Elnaz555, you'll get a bird's eye view of one of Ontario's cranberry bogs, which put wetlands areas to agricultural use.  It's near the town of Muskoka Lakes, an area of Ontario's "cottage country" located a two hour drive north of Toronto.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, Mehmet AKYÜZ brings us this stunning drone video of a national park in northwestern Turkey.  It's called Yedigöller National Park, and it's in the Bolu province of the country.  It's also known as Seven Lakes National Park, in reference to the seven lakes which were created by landslides and which form the centerpiece of the park.  Established in 1965, the park is part of the East Marmara region and is situated between Istanbul (to its west) and the national capital Ankara to its east.  

Content creator and pilot david dreyfus created this beautiful drone video of a spot in the Alsace region of northeastern France.  It's in the area around the town of Noirceux, which lies in the Vosges Mountains.  The mountains form a chain which runs roughly parallel to the Rhine River.  The Alsace region represents some of the most fought-over land in Europe - it was captured by Germany in the Franco-Prussian War of 1871 and recaptured by France in World War I - and also some of its most beautiful.  

Here's an epic aerial view of a series of valleys in England's famed Lake District, compliments of contributor Lyle McCalmont.  The two main valleys are called Great Langdale and Little Langdale, with the smaller valley of Blea Tarn between them.  The video also includes footage of the Langdale Pikes (a small mountain range north of the valley) and Lingmoor Fell (a series of hills which divides the valleys).  The entire area is contained within Cumbria, one of the main counties of North West England.  

Home to just over 11,000 people, including AirVuz contributor and pilot pfritz66, Sandy, Oregon is located in Clackamas County at the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range. It was settled in 1853 near its namesake Sandy River, the city serves as the western gateway to the Mount Hood Corridor. Our local pilot has taken out his DJI Mavic 2 Pro to give us an aerial look at the fall foliage, farm lands, gushing Sandy River, and gorgeous mountains; all are just a short distance from the city of Portland.

Check out these glorious aerial views of Lake Sunapee in the New England state of New Hampshire, compliments of contributor PeterBloch.  It's located in Sullivan and Merrimack Counties near the middle of the state.  The long, narrow lake runs for about 13 km (around 8 mi.) north-to-south, covers about 17 square km (around 7 square mi.), and is home to nearly a dozen islands.  Sunapee is part of a larger lake and wetland area, which offers some of the most spectacular Fall scenery to be had in the entire USA.  

See beautiful Squamish, British Columbia, Canada in fall via this aerial video by pilot Aerial Eye Visuals. Squamish is surrounded by mountains like the Stawamus Chief, a huge granite monolith, and sits on the northern tip of the Howe Sound. The views are as beautiful as they may seem, seen here in what is the shortest and most stunning time of year. The grays of the mountain contrast with the green, yellow, and orange of the trees that are holding on to the last remnants of their summer foliage. 

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner CINEMADRONE brings us this stunning drone video from the Ural Mountains in Russia.  Shot during the Fall with a DJI Inspire 2, the video captures the beauty of this majestic range of mountains, which forms the boundary between European and Asian Russia.  The range runs on a generally north-south course of about 1.6k mi. (around 2.5k km), from the Arctic Ocean to Russia's southern neighbor Kazakhstan.  The highest peak of the range has an altitude of about 6.2k ft. above sea level (around 1.9k m).  

The Slovak Republic has a traditional 3-month-long fall that is littered with color. The beauty of the country is shown in this 3-minute, 4K drone video shot on a DJI Mavic 2 Pro by DRONE PILOT SVK. Filled with color, mountains, historic cities, rivers, and so much more, this video is one to watch. Slovakia became part of the European Union in 2004 and has continued to climb many international travelers' bucket lists ever since due to the vast and gorgeous Carpathian Mountains and its many historic sites. 

The Jizera Mountains or Izera Mountains are the stunning range you’ll see in this drone video by pilot ludoweet. Part of the Western Sudetes (which in turn are part of the Carpathian range), they lie on the border of the Czech Republic and Poland. The area offers picture-perfect views of scattered peaks, forests of spruce and beech trees, tall cliffs, and picture-perfect valleys. Lake Superior's Thunder Bay is a giant inlet which sits on the northwestern shore of the King of the Great Lakes.  At its western end sits the city of Thunder Bay, a town with a population of a bit over 100k which is (along with Duluth) one of only two real cities on the largest of the five North American Great Lakes.  The eastern end of Thunder Bay backs up onto some of the most beautiful and remote natural scenery in Canada; check it out near the peak Fall color season in this beautiful drone video by Drone Giant.   

See the incredible fall foliage of New England, United States, in this 4K drone video by accomplished pilot and AirVuz contributor PeterBloch. He’s creating a series of videos, all celebrating the world-renowned fall colors in this northeastern region of the United States. In this breathtaking piece, we glide on his Mavic 2 Pro drone near New London, New Hampshire. New London is located near the center of the state and, clearly, is home to some of the most vibrant fall colors around. 

The Canadian province of Quebec covers an enormous land area - about 1.35 million square km or around 527k square mi., roughly twice the size of France.  Much of the province is forested, and in the more temperate latitudes, the trees are deciduous.  In the Fall, these areas become a sea of colors, presenting some of the world's most beautiful Autumn landscapes.  In this drone video by Omar Uddin, you'll get a sense of the spectacular beauty of the hills of rural Quebec near the peak of the Fall color season.   

The celebration of the transitional colors of autumn is recognized differently in various parts of the world.  In Lapland, the northernmost region of Finland, this colorful seasonal transformation is described with its own word.  "Ruska" not only aptly describes these beautiful hues of fall, it's also the name of this remarkable video by top contributor Timoksanen.  His stunning use of DJI products like the Phantom 4 Pro, Mavic Pro, Ronin S, and OSMO+ created this stunning footage of this storied region north of the Arctic Circle.

Pericnik is a waterfall in northern Slovenia, near the country's northern border with Austria.  It is actually a system of two waterfalls, with the lower (larger) falls having a drop of 52 meters (171 ft.).  Situated in Triglav national park, it's is one of the best known sights in this mountainous land which was once part of Yugoslavia.  In this aerial video, contributor Kolman Aerial flies his drone over the great falls during the peak autumn season, creating a stunning aerial perspective! 

Check out these beautiful drone views of Lynchburg, Virginia, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Clark Lupton.  Nicknamed the City of the Seven Hills, Lynchburg is situated on the banks of the James River, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Located near the center of the state, Lynchburg is the core of the Virginia's fifth-largest metropolitan area.  The site of an 1864 battle during the US Civil War, Lynchburg went on to develop a substantial industrial base during the Reconstruction which followed.   

Check out the fantastic Fall colors of the Canadian province of Quebec from above in this fabulous drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot SD Aerials.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, the video captures the beauty of the eastern Canadian countryside near the town of Sainte-Sophie-d'halifax.  The town lies in the Centre-du-Québec region south of the St. Lawrence River, between Montreal and Quebec City.  The video features some excellent footage of a windfarm, one of many which dot the Quebec countryside. 

With its vast areas of forests and lakes, Sweden offers some of the most compelling Fall scenery in Europe.  In this fantastic drone video by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist hamed.razzaghi, you'll get an aerial view of the Swedish hinterland as the season transitions from Summer to Autumn.  The video was filmed in the south-central part of the country, between the port city of Gothenburg and the interior town of Jönköping.  The video makes excellent use of the light clouds hovering over the forest.  

New AirVuz contributor and pilot Above Summit brings us this fantastic drone video of an iconic historical railway in the USA's New England region.  It's the Conway Scenic Railway, and it runs two routes from the New Hampshire town of North Conway.  With its main station listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the railway is located in the Mount Washington Valley, which is surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the eastern United States.  The video was filmed during the brilliant New England Fall colors season.  

Prepare to be blown away by this stunning aerial view of New England's Fall colors, compliments of contributor and pilot PeterBloch. It was filmed at Bradford Bog, New Hampshire, in the west-central part of the Granite State.  It's part of a large system of wetlands throughout rural New England which provide vital sanctuary for birds and other species and also make for some of the finest day hiking trips around. This was filmed in late September, as the area approaches its peak colors in early October.  

Here's a beautiful aerial view of Fall in the storied Finnish region of Lapland, compliments of timoksanen.  It was filmed near the village of Hetta in the municipality of Enontekiö, an appendage of northwestern Finland which is sandwiched between the territory of Sweden and Norway. Popular with cross-country skiers, this is some of the most remote territory in continental Europe: there's an airport nearby which has seasonal flights, but off-season the nearest airport is about a two hour drive away.  

Contributor and pilot T H Neacsu used a drone to create this magnificent video of Romania's Buzau Mountains.  The mountains lie in the eastern part of the region of Wallachia, which (along with the Moldavia region) was the core of the modern nation of Romania.  The Buzau's are essentially foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, which run through much of Romania and for the most part define the boundaries between the country's core regions.  The video was taken during the height of the Fall colors season.  

Check out this stunning drone video of the Fall colors in Newfoundland, Canada, compliments of AirVuz contributor newfound drone.  The video was filmed in the western part of the giant island, which covers a land area of almost 109k square km (around 42k square mi.) and is one of the world's 20 largest islands on that measure.  The western part of the island lies along the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which separates the island from the Canadian mainland.  It's an area of magnificent natural beauty, never more so than in the Autumn months.  

The Balkan Mountains are less well known than other European mountain ranges, such as the Alps, the Carpathians, and the Pyrenees.  Known as Stara Planina, the Balkan range runs through a portion of Serbia and much of Bulgaria to a discharge point into the Black Sea.  The spectacularly beautiful mountains reach altitudes of about 2.4k meters above sea evel (around 7.8k ft.).  In this video, contributor Danovski Air flew a drone over a part of the mountain range in Bulgaria, in the height of the Fall color season.
