Sunrise Over Sunset Hill
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Check out these glorious aerial views of Lake Sunapee in the New England state of New Hampshire, compliments of contributor PeterBloch. It's located in Sullivan and Merrimack Counties near the middle of the state. The long, narrow lake runs for about 13 km (around 8 mi.) north-to-south, covers about 17 square km (around 7 square mi.), and is home to nearly a dozen islands. Sunapee is part of a larger lake and wetland area, which offers some of the most spectacular Fall scenery to be had in the entire USA.

Fall 2019 Chapter 11 Sunset Hill is just to the east of The Fells, aka the Hay Estate that occupies a good section along the eastern shores of Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. I climbed the 40 minute trail in the pitch dark so that I could be there for the setting of the full moon and the rising of the sun. Some of the low areas were filled with fog, the foliage was in peak radiance, and it was just wonderful. The small waterbody to the east of where I was located is Chalk Pond, and beyond that is Mount Kearsarge. If you are interested in this walk, the trail network in this area is in great shape, mostly old carriage roads that are gradually sloped and wide. The top has a clearing where you can see towards the the middle section of the lake. This lovely property was originally part of the Hay Estate, now owned and protected by The Society for the Protection of NH Forests, officially known as "The Hay Forest Reservation". It is well worth a visit (not necessary in the predawn darkness!). The music is "Silence" by Borrtex, courtesy of FreeMusicArchives.org.
