Drone Videos of Spain's Galicia Region

Top contributor and Drone Video Award Finalist ZilverSchmitz used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this marvelous aerial tour of Galicia, the northwesternmost region of Spain.  One look at a map will suggest that this is a very distinctive region - its border with Portugal (to the south) is as long as its borders with fellow Spanish regions, and its coastline is longer than all of its land borders combined.  The video features footage of the country's long coastline as well as some of its cities and towns, including the city of A Coruna.  

Explore the Galicia region of northwestern Spain in this excellent 2023 reel by AirVuz contributor Airviewstudio.  The video opens with shots of some of the Celtic, Pre-Roman ruins which can be found throughout northern Spain.  Further on, you'll explore Galicia's storied coastline, including the Costa Muerta (the Coast of Death), so named for its danger to coastal shipping and home to numerous lighthouses.  You'll also explore some of the natural sites in the Galician interior, including some spectacular waterfalls.  

Check out these marvelous drone videos from the Galicia region of northwestern Spain, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Maite_Fornalino.  The video was shot over A Coruña and Ponteverde, the two western provinces of the Semi-Autonomous Community of Galicia.  Both province have long coastlines along the Atlantic Ocean, A Coruña to the north and Ponteverde to the south.  The video features footage from both the provinces' rocky coasline as well as their hilly-to-mountainous interiors.  

A Coruña is one of the most important cities in Northwestern Spain.  It's the capital of its namesake province, one of the four provinces which make up the semi-autonomous region of Galicia.  Seen from above in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor Viajes Lost Planet, A Coruña is a busy port on the Golfo Ártabro, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean.  The video features footage of the town and its most well-known landmark: the Tower of Hercules lighthouse on a peninsula just north of the city.  

Top AirVuz contributor J.L.C.Drones brings us this fantastic 2024 drone highlight reel from the Spanish region of Galicia.  Filmed with a DJI Air 3 drone, the video will take you over this fascinating region, which covers the northwestern corner of the country.  It opens with shots of a medieval castle, and at 1:40 you'll see one of the region's famous rias (glaciated river valleys).  Other highlights include an old coastal fortress (starting at 2:29), a waterfall (2:47), a wind farm (3:20), and more.

Castro de Santa Trega is a famous fortress in northwestern Spain.  It's situated in the town of A Guarda in Pontevedra, the southwesternmost of the four provinces of the Galicia region.  The original site dates to Roman times, and occupies a strategic position on the mountain bearing the same name.  It was occupied for roughly two hundred years, between 100 BC and 100 AD.  Contributor Diego_Al_Al used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this aerial video of the fort, one of Galicia's most popular tourist spots.  

Muros is one of the most remote towns in Spain.  It's located on the western coast of A Coruña, the northwestern most province of Spain's northwesternmost region of Galicia.  A very old harbor town, Muros continues to be heavily reliant on the fishing industry.  In recent years, the town has seen an influx of tourism due to its proximity to Lighthouse Way, a stretch of the Galician coastline once known as the Coast of Death due to its danger to ships.  Check out the beautiful seaside town from above in this drone video by mlarino.  

Check out this amazing drone video from the northwestern part of Spain, compliments of contributor kreativedrone.  The video was filmed around the municipality of Ponteareas, which is situated in the province of Pontevedra.  Pontevedra is the southwesternmost of the four provinces which comprise the semi-autonomous region of Galicia.  Ponteareas lies in the hilly interior of the province.  The video features footage of the River Tea, as well as the magnificent medieval Sabroso Castle. 

For a second upload to AirVuz, new contributor belogaev_art brings us this excellent drone video of a well-known beach in northern Spain.  It's called Beach of the Cathedrals (Playa de las Catedrales), and it's located in Lugo, one of the provinces of the region of Galicia which covers the northwestern corner of the country.  With its distinctive-looking natural arches, the beach has been designated as a Natural Monument by the Galician regional government.  The video was filmed with a DJI Air 2S drone.  

Spain's Costa Ártabra is a stretch of coastline in the northwestern region of Galicia, extending north and west from the city of A Coruña.  In this drone video by Airview Studio, you'll get an aerial tour of the following spots Costa Ártabra spots: the hermitage of Virxe do Porto and the Punta Frouxeira Lighthouse in the town of Valdoviño (just to the northeast of A Coruña), Concepción Castle and the hermitage of Santo Antonio de Corveiro in Cedeira (a bit further northeast), and (continuing northeast) the Punta Candieira Lighthouse.  

The Minho is the fourth-largest river on the Iberian Peninsula by discharge volume, after the Douro, Ebro, and Tagus Rivers.  It rises in the mountains of Galicia and flows southwards, then turns west to form the border with Portugal to the south, picking up the Sil, Neira, Avia, Barbantiño, Búbal, and Arnoya rivers as tributaries before discharging into the Atlantic Ocean.  In this drone video by Diego_Al_Al, you'll get an aerial view of the estuary of the river, which runs a total length of 350 km or about 220 mi.  

Vigo is the largest city in Spain's Galicia region.  It sits on the south side of its namesake bay on the Atlantic Ocean in Pontevedra, the southwesternmost of Galicia's four provinces.  In this drone video by admr1985, you'll get an aerial tour of the town, which is only about 155 km (around 95 mi.) from the Portuguese city of Porto.  Starting at about the :40 mark, you'll get a great view of one of the city's top sights: the hilltop Castro Fortress.  It was built in the 17th century during the Portuguese Restoration War.

Check out this excellent drone video of a well-known town in the Galicia region of northwestern Spain, compliments of AirVuz contributor mlarino.  Carnota is located in A Coruña, the northwesternmost of Galicia's four provinces.  It's located along a bay of the Atlantic Ocean, just north of the town of Muros.  Inhabited for thousands of years, the town has a permanent population of around 4k.  Its beach runs for about 4 mi. (around 7 km), making it one of the longest stretches of beach in Galicia.  

Ourense is one of the most important cities in the Galicia region of northwestern Spain.  The capital of its namesake province, it's situated on the banks of the Minho River.  For centuries, Ourense's Ponte Vella Bridge was the only span over the great river.  During the Middle Ages, this  geographic fact led the city to become a key stops on the Portuguese Way, a famous pilgrimage route to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela to its northwest.  Check out the city and its famous bridge in this drone video by ZilverSchmitz.

Check out these stunning aerial views from a beach and hermitage on the northwestern coast of Spain, compliments of contributor and pilot explorer66air.  The area filmed is a small peninsula in the municipality of Ferrol in A Coruña, one of the four provinces which make up the country's Galicia region.  The lonely looking yet stunningly beautiful hermitage is called Hermitage of Santa Comba, and it's the subject of numerous local legends.  It's about an hour's drive northeast of the province's namesake capital city.

Check out these drone views of a famous monastery in northwestern Spain, compliments of AirVuz contributor Maite_Fornalino.  It's called the Sobrado Abbey (Monasterio de Santa María de Sobrado de los Monjes ), and it's located in its namesake town in A Coruña, one of the four provinces of the semi-autonomous region of Galicia.  Founded in the 10th century AD, and most of the abbey's architecture (including its Baroque style church) date to the early 18th century.  The monastery was restored and re-activated beginning in the 1950's.  

In this drone video by AirVuz contributor Airviewstudio, you'll take an aerial tour through the Spanish province of Pontevedra, the southwesternmost of the four provinces of the Galicia region in the northwestern corner of the country.  Ponteverde is known in part for its waterfalls, which are formed by the drainage of the Galician highlands into the Atlantic Ocean to the west.  The video features footage from the following waterfalls: Parrelos, Casariños and De Roca. The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 drone. 

In this drone video by Airview Studio, you'll take an aerial tour of the lighthouses on a particularly treacherous stretch of Spain's northwestern coastline known as the Costa Muerta - the Coast of Death - in reference to the thousands of ships which have sunk or run aground here through the ages.  The lighthouses featured in the video include those at the Sisargas Islands (at the :50 mark), Punta Nariga (1:10), Laxe (1:50), Roncudo (2:15), Cabo Vilan (2:50), Cabo Touriñán (4:00), and Cabo Fisterra (4:20).

Check out this amazing drone video of one of Spain's most famous waterfalls, compliments of content creator Maverick Stories.  The Waterfall of the Ezaro is situated on the Xallas River in A Coruña, the northwesternmost province of Galicia, which is the northwesternmost region of Spain.  The falls are accessible from the town of Dumbria.  It's near the end of the river's course before it empties into the Atlantic Ocean.  The waterfall has a total drop of about 155 meters or a bit over 500 ft.  

Check out this beautiful drone video from the coast of northern Spain, compliments of new AirVuz contributor explorando rincones.  It was filmed on the coast of Galicia, the northwesternmost of Spain's semi-autonomous communities.   Galicia's northern coastline lies along a body of water known as the Cantabrian Sea, which is the name often used for the southern half of the Bay of Biscay.  The Bay of Biscay is a large inlet of the North Atlantic Ocean, it is formed by the northern coast of Spain and the western coast of France.  

In this drone video by AirVuz contributor Airviewstudio, you'll get an aerial tour of the Ribeira Sacra, a culturally important area within the Galicia region of northwestern Spain.  The Ribeira Sacra is home to a dense cluster of monasteries along the Cabe , Sil, and Miño Rivers in Ourense and Lugo, two of the four provinces which make up the autonomous community of Galicia.   The densest cluster of standing monasteries in Europe, some of them date to the 12th century AD and possibly earlier.   

AirVuz contributor Airviewstudio brings us this fantastic drone video from the Ria de Vigo in northwestern Spain.  The Ria de Vigo is the southernmost of four rias (inlets formed by "drowned" rivers) on the western (Atlantic Ocean) coastline of Galicia, the northwesternmost of the major regions of metropolitan Spain.  The video includes footage of the city of Vigo (which lies on the ria's southern side); the Rande Bridge, which spans the ria just to the east of Vigo; the Island of San Simón, just to the east of the bridge; and more.  

AirVuz contributor Airviewstudio brings us this fantastic drone video from the coast of Spain's Galicia region.  The video was filmed on a stretch of the Atlantic coast between the town of Baiona in the north to A Guarda, about 18 mi. (around 30 km) to the south.  Both towns are part of Pontevedra, the southwesternmost of the four provinces which make up the Galicia region in the northwestern corner of metropolitan Spain.  The video includes footage of Virgén de la Roca monument, the Monastery of Oia, and more.   

Take an aerial tour of a town on Spain's "Death Coast", compliments of AirVuz contributor franroldan.  Malpica de Bergantiños is located near the northwestern corner of Spain, in the province of A Coruña in Galicia.  The town represents the traditionally defined eastern extent of the Costa Muerta, a stretch of coastline so named due to the extreme navigational hazards posed to shipping in the centuries before radar.  As you'll see in the video, the town of Malpica de Bergantiños sits on a small promontory.    

The coastline of Spain's Galicia region is home to some of the more dramatic coastal scenery in Europe.  In this drone video by franroldan, you'll see a beautiful spot on the Galician coast, which is essentially the northwestern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.  The video was filmed over the municipality of Malpica de Bergantiños in A Coruña, the northwesternmost of the four provinces which make up the autonomous community of Galicia.  The area sits on a peninsula about 30 mi. (around 50 km) west of the province's (namesake) capital.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot mlarino brings us this fantastic drone video from the Galicia region of northwestern Spain.  The video opens with some excellent shots of Galicia's famously rocky (and notoriously dangerous, to shipping) coastline.  Then you'll head to the southern part of the Galician coastline to see the Galician rias - a series of four fjord-like inlets.  Other shots will take you into the Galician interior - a mountainous land which still bears the marks of the important pilgrimage routes which once ran through here.  

The western coast of Spain's Galicia region has a series of four inlets known as rias.  Sometimes confused with fjords (which they resemble when seen on a map), rias are valleys that become submerged due to changing sea levels.  The northernmost of the four Galician rias is called Ria de Muros y Noya.  Seen here in this drone video by contributor mlarino, it's located just south of the treacherous Coast of Death (Costa Muerta).  With only the municipality of Muros and a few smaller town on its shores, it's the most remote of the four rias.  

The Spanish town of Tui is located in Ponteverde, one of the four provinces of the semi-autonomous community of Galicia in the northwestern corner of the country.  It lies on the banks of the Meno River, across which lies the town of Valença, Portugal.  In this drone video by Viajes Lost Planet, you can check out this historic city from a bird's eye view.  The video features excellent footage of the town's main landmark: the Tui Cathedral, which dates to the early 13th century and lies in the center of the old city. 

In this drone video by AirVuz contributor jlcarrasco.bicisydrones, you'll get an aerial tour of a beautiful waterside village in the Galicia region of northwestern Spain.  It's called Combarro, and it lies just west of the city of Pontevedra on one of Galicia's Rías Baixas, a series of four coastal inlets formed by sunken rivers which lie along the coast of the Province of Pontevedra, the southwesternmost of the four which make up the region of Galicia.  Combarro is considered one of Galicia's most beautiful villages.
