The Republic of Cyprus is one of two Mediterranean Island nations of Southern Europe, the other being Malta. One of the largest islands in the great sea, Cyprus has gone from being primarily known for its copper mines to becoming a more significant tourist destination in recent years. With mountain peaks of almost 2k meters (6.4k ft), stunning blue lagoons and pristine beaches, famous churches and monasteries, and numerous shipwrecks and iconic lighthouses, the island has great beauty, perhaps even more so when viewed from a bird's eye perspective.
