Formally known as the Republic of the Maldives, this Indian Ocean island nation consists of 26 island atolls in the southern Indian Ocean. The atolls, each of which can contain dozens of tiny islands, line up over a very long north-south stretch of the sea. Most of these islands appear as bare specks on even the most detailed maps - the entire country covers only about 300 square km (around 115 square mi.); it's the smallest country in Asia. Their diminutive size has made this country the world leader in a rapidly-developing travel niche - private island resorts, where guests have the opportunity to soak up the sun on some of the world's best beaches and pursue their interests in activities like jetski's, powerboats, and sailing. Also known as one of the world's top spots for surfing, it's no surprise that drone pilots have discovered the Maldives. Here is a collection of some of the best aerial videos of the Maldives available anywhere! Aerial photo: "This is Paradise (in the Maldives)!" by AirVuz contributor and drone pilot DroneHeroes.
