For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor opia media lab brings us this phenomenal demo reel from Mexico.  The reel features footage from across the giant country.  Some of the featured locations include Puebla, the second-largest city of colonial Mexico; the great port city of Veracruz; the town of Tepoztlán, south of Mexico City; and the great stratovolcano called Popocatepetl, which is the country's second-highest mountain and has a peak elevation of about 5.4k meters above sea level or around 17.8k ft.

Check out this outstanding drone video of Monterrey, Mexico, compliments of  contributor thedroneexperience.  The capital of the northeastern city of Nueva Leon, Monterrey is the core of the second-largest metropolitan area in the country after Greater Mexico City.  A major industrial center and one of Mexico's wealthiest cities, Monterrey lies at the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental.  The video features footage of sites such as the Monterrey Cathedral and the under-construction Torres Obispado, soon to be Mexico's tallest skyscraper.

Award-winning contributor Postandfly used a DJI Mavic Mini 2 to create this DVOW nominated reel of Mexico's El Chico National Park.  It's located in the state of Hidalgo, about a two-hour drive northeast of Mexico City.   One of the country's first protected areas, El Chico was formally designated as a national park in 1982.  The park is home to some of Mexico's last remaining ancient forest areas.  It lies within the Pachuca Mountains, which form part of the Sierra Madre Oriental chain which runs down much of eastern Mexico.

Prepare to be blown away by this magnificent drone video of Mexico's ancient city of Teotihuacan, compliments of award-winning contributor Postandfly.  Located about 40 km (around 25) northeast of central Mexico City, Teotihuacan was the center of a Mesoamerican civilization which pre-dated the Mayan and Aztec civilizations by centuries and the Spanish arrival in the Western Hemisphere by over 1,500 years.  At its height around 500 AD, the city was the largest in the Americas and one of the half-dozen largest in the world.

Top contributor iDrone Aerials created this epic aerial view of the great ruins of Chichen Itza, on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.  Chichen Itza is believed by archaeologists to have been one of the largest cities in the Mayan civilization.  It is located in the state of Yucatán, one of the three states on the peninsula along with Quintana Roo and Campeche.  It was built beginning in the 7th century.  A UNESCO World Heritage site, the site was recently named one of the new Seven Wonders of the World by the Travel Channel.

Contributor and pilot Legacy Video used a drone to create this amazing aerial tour of Mazatlan, one of the beach cities along Mexico's Pacific coastline.  Mazatlan is located in the state of Sinaloa.  It is situated roughly a third of the way down the Pacific coast, approximately level with the southern tip of Baja California Peninsula.  Legacy used a DJI Phantom 3 drone to create this video of the city, which was founded by the Spanish in 1531 and is one of the oldest cities on Mexico's west coast.

Surrounded by Hills, Acapulco is also a major cruise ship port of call.

Top contributor Postandfly created this stunning drone video of the city of Oaxaca, capital of the state of the same name in Southern Mexico.  The state is considered one of Mexico's great cultural treasures because of its indigenous population, in which at least 16 pre-Columbian tribes have survived and with greater continuity than in other parts of the country.  Located in a mountain valley, Oaxaca was the subject of four of the eight essays in DH Lawrence's travel book Mornings in Mexico (1927).

Top AirVuz content creator and drone pilot Majestic does it again with this stunning aerial portrait of Cancún, Mexico.  The resort city lies on the eastern (Caribbean Sea) side of the Yucatán Peninsula in the state of Quintana Roo.  Cancún was virtually unknown until the 1970's, when the Mexican government launched an investment program to create a new planned resort city.  The program was wildly successful, and within a couple of decades the city was the country's top beach destination.

Check out this fantastic drone footage collection from the mountains of northeastern Mexico, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot k2team.mty.  The mountains here are part of the Sierra Madre Oriental, a range which runs down the eastern side of the country, roughly parallel to the Sierra Madre Occidental on the western side.  Extending from the USA border to the great Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, the peaks of the Sierra Madre Orientals run as high as 3.7k meters above sea level or around 12.1k ft.

Award-winning contributor Postandfly created this beautiful aerial video of the "ghost town" of Real de Catorce, once one of the great mining towns of Central Mexico.  Situated in the state of San Luis Potosi, it's roughly in the middle of the great triangle formed by Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.  The town was founded as a result of a large nearby silver discovery in the late 18th century, and at its height, it was one of the biggest sources for the highly silver-dependent Spanish Empire.

Contributor and pilot Nomade World used a drone to capture a memorable hike on Pico de Orizaba (Citlaltépetl), otherwise known as the highest mountain in Mexico.  The dormant (but not extinct) volcano is situated on the Trans-Mexican Volcanic belt that defines so much of the geography of the country.  The mountain's peak stands about 5.6k meters (about 18.5k) ft. above sea level, making it the third highest peak in North America.  Orizaba is the world's second most prominent volcanic peak.

Drone_capodoc created this beautiful drone reel from the Mexican state of Jalisco, mostly shot in its great capital city Guadalajara.  Guadalajara is the center of the second most populous metropolitan area in the country after Mexico City.  A historic city originally founded in the 16th century, it's sprouted more than its share of gleaming skyscrapers and wide freeways, which blend in nicely with its well known churches and public squares.  The video also contains footage of some other spots around the state.

Top contributor Postandfly created this fascinating drone video of one of the geological wonders of Mexico: the Parícutin volcano.  Located in the state of Michoacán, it's one of the world's most famous cinder cone volcanoes, a subtype which arises from eruptions through a single vent that's usually part of a larger volcano.  Parícutin was born in an eruption that began in 1943 and continued for about nine years, although this type of volcano will not erupt again. This video won DVOW in August, 2019.

Award-winning content creator and pilot Poastandfly created this stunning drone video of one of the most pristine beaches on Mexico's western (Pacific Ocean) coastline.  Zipolite Beach is situated in the southern state of Oaxaca. It's about two km (just over a mile) long and only about 40 meters (around 130 ft. wide.  It's one of the more remote beach areas on the country's western coast.  Named as one of Mexico's top beaches by Coastal Living, it's known in part for being the only legal nude beach in Mexico.

Top contributor Barnard Steele created this magnificent sunrise drone video of some of Mexico's most well-known ruins.  The Tulum site is located on the so-called Mayan Riviera, a stretch of beaches and ancient ruins south of Cancun in the Yucatan Peninsula state of Quintana Roo.  Situated on some tall cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Bjuilt between the 13th-15th centuries, Tulum is one of the best-preserved sites of the Mayan Civilization which ruled over large stretches of the region in Pre-Columbian times.

Award-winning content creator and drone pilot Postandfly created this stunning aerial video of a well known lake on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.  It's called Bacalar Lagoon, and the "lagoon" monitor is correct - it's technically not a lake, as it's connected to the Caribbean Sea through the porous limestone that runs through the area.  Lagoon or lake, it's a very long body of water - 42 square km or 16 square mi.  It's near a town of the same name, in the southeastern corner of Mexican Yucatan.

In this video, Postandfly gives us a bird's eye view of Tijuana, the largest city on Mexico's western coasts.  It's the largest city in the state of Baja California, which extends from the US border to Cabo St. Lucas at the tip of the BC peninsula.  Tijuana is one of the major manufacturing centers of Mexico, and is home to many maquiladora factories.  Most of the video's footage is shot around the city's Pacific Ocean beach coastline.  He also gets some good shots of the giant Plaza Monumental arena.
