The Eye of the Pantheon, the Navel of the City of Rome

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Martin_Ruggieri brings us this excellent drone video of the Pantheon in Rome, Italy.  Located in the Piazza della Rotonda square in the heart of the city, the Pantheon was originally a Roman temple which dates to the reign of the emperor Hadrian in the second century AD.  Converted to a Christian church in the 7th century AD, it is considered one of the best-preserved relics of the Roman Empire.  Among other distinctions, it has the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome.

BADGES THIS VIDEO HAS EARNED:

The Pantheon is an ancient 2nd century Roman temple and, since AD 609, a Catholic church called the Basilica of St. Mary and the Martyrs (Italian: Basilica Santa Maria ad Martyres) in Rome, Italy. It is perhaps the most famous, and architecturally most influential, rotunda.

The Pantheon's large circular domed, with a conventional temple portico front, was unique in Roman architecture. Nevertheless, it became a standard exemplar when classical styles were revived, and has been copied many times by later architects.
