Europe from above: Bulgaria

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Former DVOW Finalist nshabarkov brings us this excellent drone tour of Bulgaria. The video opens with shots of the country's Black Sea coastline and its interior mountains. At the :27 mark, you'll see the Bada Vida Fortress, which is situated in the northwestern part of the country, followed by the Alyosha Monument in Plovdiv, near the center of the country. Other highlights include the lighthouse of Shabla in the country's northeastern corner (1:17), the Black Sea fortress of Kaliakra (1:22), the Cathedral of Varna (1:32), and more.

It's time to represent my own country from a high perspective as well. Shooted over the course of two years in some of the most iconic locations in Bulgaria, it's definitely difficult to capture all the beauty of the country within two minutes. From the highest peaks of the mountains in the southwest, to the warm waters of the Black Sea, Bulgaria has many stories to share. The view from above encompasses the best-preserved medieval fortress in Bulgaria, to the smallest town - Melnik, across Strandzha Mountain, the cultural heart of the country - Plovdiv and the oldest lighthouse in the Balkans.

When I first heard this unique interpretation of a traditional Bulgarian folk song, I was sure it would sound especially good as background of these aerial views. The music is performed by the world's first bagpipe band only from girls on the "jura" bagpipe. There's still so much left to show, so I promise there's a second part to come.
