The video was filmed using both a gimbal-stabilized drone as well as DJI Avata 2 first person view (FPV) drone. It features stunningly cinematic shots from a number of spots throughout the country, including the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps, which is located in the southwestern canton of Valais; the Gornergrat ridge, which overlooks the glacier, and more.

Awakening – A New Horizon is a short film that intimately captures my personal quest for meaning through the lens of photography. What began as a passion for still images evolved into a deeper journey, one that led me into the heart of nature, where each frame became a reflection of inner discovery. Through exploring wild landscapes and capturing fleeting moments on film, I found not only beauty but purpose, as the pursuit of creative expression opened a new horizon of self-awareness and connection with the world around me.

This year, I took on a major challenge: creating a cinematic drone video during a trip to Switzerland. The biggest hurdle was mustering the courage to pick up the DJI Avata 2 and start learning to fly it months ahead of the journey. Experiencing my very first dive with it during the trip brought an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. Filming everything solo added to the exhaustion, sometimes more than the hikes themselves but it was all worth it. I’m incredibly grateful for the beautiful weather throughout the 8-day adventure. In the end, I’m proud that the video turned out just as I envisioned, and I truly hope everyone who watches it enjoys the journey.
