Xochimilco Winter

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Top AirVuz contributor Postandfly brings us this stunning drone video of the Xochimilco District of Mexico City. Xochimilco is located southeast of the CDMX (the city center), roughly between the two great volcanoes which mark the southern end of the Valley of Mexico. It was once an independent Aztec city located on the southern shore of its namesake lake, which was largely drained following the Spanish conquest. What remains of the lake is a vast network of canals which can be toured via gondola boats.

Xochimilco is known for its trajineras and festive atmosphere, but there’s a lesser-explored side, full of natural beauty and impressive wildlife. In this video, I captured a winter sunrise in one of the most untouched areas of Xochimilco, far from the tourist spots, where nature reveals itself in its purest form.

Filmed entirely with the DJI Air 3S in HDR and edited in HDR, this video highlights the stunning colors and cinematic atmosphere of this place. During the flight, I was able to capture the majestic white pelicans migrating from Canada, as well as the serene waters and the golden morning light.

Xochimilco is a hidden gem within Mexico City, and this video is proof that it still holds breathtaking secrets. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed filming it.
