UNESCO World Heritage - Walkenried Abbey - #cinematic

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Top AirVuz contributor seb-depp brings us this excellent drone video of a famous German monastery. It's called the Walkenried Abbey, and it's located in its namesake village in the northwestern state of Lower Saxony. The abbey was founded by the Order of Cistercians in the 12th century. Once one of the wealthiest monasteries in German lands, the abbey fell into disrepair and suffered numerous depredations during the German Peasants War of the early 16th century and later the Thirty Years War.

The former Cistercian abbey of Walkenried is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site of mining Rammelsberg, Old Town of Goslar and Harz' Waterworks. It was built from 1127 and close 1648 being in decline much earlier - 1525 the church was damaged by farmers and never repaired. For 150 years it was used as a quarry until 1817 that was outlawed.
