Trona Pinnacles
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
California's Trona Pinnacles are one of the USA's most unusual rock formations. Set in the Mojave Desert east of Los Angeles, the roughly 500 spires are formed by unusual deposition and water erosion patterns on the bed of the (now dry) Searles Lake. Some of the pinnacles rise as high as 43 meters or about 140 ft. Seen here in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor tglass000, the Pinnacles have appeared in numerous TV shows and feature movies, including Planet of the Apes (1968) and Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989).

The wife bought a travel trailer and we drove it across miles of washboard road to see the Trona Pinnacles at sunrise.
