Tozal de la Cobeta, a magical landscape in the Monegros
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Some of the most unusual landscapes in Spain are to be found in a desert "badlands" area of the Aragon region called the Monegros. Here, unusual erosion patterns have created spectacular rock formations like what you will see in this drone video by contributor and pilot pepinair. The centerpiece of the video is the pedestal shaped Tozal de la Cobeta. Chronically prone to drought, the Monegros areas covers portions of Zaragosa and Huesca, two of the provinces which make up the Aragon region.

The Monegrin enclave of Jubierre is a wide space that opens between Sariñena and Castejón de Monegros where the intense action of erosion has given rise to ravines and different types of reliefs, some as peculiar as the Tozal de la Cobeta, whose image is a good symbol of this peculiar geological phenomenon These tozales originate from an intense erosive phenomenon of the waters, which dissolves the soft areas of plaster and marls until they weaken them in such a way that they sink.
