Mists in the river

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : The Ter is a river in the semi-autonomous region of Catalonia in northeastern Spain. The river rises in the Pyrenees and flows eastwards to the Mediterranean Sea. The river constitutes a major hydropower resource, and in 1962 a dam was built on the waterway. The resulting reservoir swallowed up the town of San Román de Sau. As the river's flow has decreased. the old town is slowly re-emerging. This magnificent "sunken town" is captured in this beautiful drone video by contributor Pepinair.

The Sau swamp hides under its waters a precious secret, each season, when its flow decreases little by little, the old town of San Román de Sau is emerging, considered one of the jewels of the sunken villages of Spain. The town of San Román de Sau was swallowed by the waters of the reservoir in 1962 by the river Ter, it was a small town barely inhabited that finally had to be abandoned by the construction of the reservoir. Every year appear among the waters of the river Ter, like ghosts, the trees that had been submerged for years with the remains of the church, the cemetery, the ruins and the stones that the swamp turned into legendary, a place of attractive desolation among the mists.
