The story of the Golden cock of the Sint Amelberga basilica...

The Saint Amelberga basilica is a Roman style church in the village of Susteren. It's located in the narrowest part of the Netherlands, in the most southern province called Limburg. From here if you go three kilometers to the west you will be in Belgium, one kilometer to the east is the German border. After World War II the church restoration works have been finished in 1948. The Golden tower cock has been manufactured by my wife's grandfather in 1947. In 2018 the gold cladding was renewed.
