Tempo-El Rey del Drill music video: Acho Cabron

I had the honor of working on a music video for an artist that I had spent my teenage years listening to. The earlier part of his career had ended abruptly due to some mishaps that led to his incarceration. It was a heartbreaking moment for many of us Puerto Rican’s, because Tempo signified the resurgence of our culture in the mainstream media. He was one of the pioneers of the reggaeton music scene. I remember in the 90’s going to the Puerto Rican day parade, his music would come on, and there’d be hundreds of us dancing in the streets, taking pride in a new genre of music that was truly ours. Fast forward 25 years, and I get a phone call asking if I can contribute to his latest video. If only you were there to see my face when the producer told me who the artist was. From the phone call to the actual production, this entire experience has been nothing short of surreal for me and my family.
