Pushchino is a beautiful city of Soviet science on the Oka River

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : AirVuz contributor and pilot VadimUshKa brings us this excellent drone video of an important scientific town in Russia called Puschino. It's located in the Moscow Oblast, about 100 km (around 60 mi.) south of the national capital. Located on the Oka River (a major Volga tributary), the modern version of the town was founded in the 1950's to house a large new radio telescope. The town subsequently became the home of two other scientific institutes, one devoted to microbiology and the other to agricultural chemistry.

Pushchino is a city (since 1966) in the Moscow region, Russia. One of the best scientific centers of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is located on the right bank of the Oka River at the confluence of the Lyubozhikha River, south of Moscow, 80 km from the Moscow Ring Road and 13 km southeast of Serpukhov. The Pushchino Biological Scientific Center is well known. The city has 9 research institutes and 1 observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 1962 it has had the status of "Scientific Center for Biological Research", since 2005 it has had the status of "Science City". The city and its urban district are bordered on all sides by the urban district of Serpukhov, to which the Prisady village enclave, which protrudes into the territory of the Pushchino urban district, belongs. Opposite Pushchino, on the left bank of the Oka, there is the Prioksko-Terrasny Biosphere Reserve.
