The sign we were looking for from afar in the wilderness of the old industrial zone of Drapetsona was a chimney painted in the colors of the Olympics. Faded, very tall, it stands like a lighthouse cut off from the rest of the ruined buildings, giving an indication that the place was once full of life. .if you do not know that from the north side, next to the stadium, there is a road that leads you to where the Fertilizers once were, the only way to enter the area is by climbing and jumping over the iron door (which here and there opens with remote control and come and go expensive .cars) or passing through the gypsy mahala and climbing the piles of rubble behind the arches. ..The cloudy sky and the tufts of weeds fluttering in the wind make the landscape look northern European - somewhat reminiscent of the Highlands, with a different view of the horizon: on one side you see modern apartment buildings and an elevated water tank and on the other. another you gaze at the Saronic Gulf.we cross the dense grass and the fresh rocket - which paints our shoes green, scattering a peppery smell in the air - and we reach two buildings dismantled and ruined by anything that can be sold. .they are impressive, even in their decline, plunder and lost grandeur. They are so torn down that you can hardly imagine what exactly was happening in each of them in the era of their "glory". .to a lesser extent, with the Art Deco aesthetic that once seemed to house offices, rooms today are full of rubble, wooden frames from drawers and cupboards, floors with holes that reveal hatches and basements, and books with "shift notes" that have melted the.humidity and rain.wandering under sheets that creak in every gust of wind and between unexpected gaps that gap in the vacuum is rather dangerous. .nevertheless, while we are exploring the rusty gears of the huge machines, a group of bold girls defy the danger and climb the half-collapsed staircase to climb to the roof. They take photos non-stop and look excited by the scenery ..
