Old Baldy Lighthouse

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : ontributor and pilot Bumble Bee Productions brings us this beautiful aerial view of one of the most famous lighthouses in the Southeastern USA. It's called Bald Head Lighthouse, known colloquially as Mt. Baldy. Situated on Bald Head Island near the mouth of the Cape Fear River in North Carolina, it's the oldest standing lighthouse in the Tar Heel State. It opened in 1817 to protect shipping in and out of the then-young port of Wilmington. Both Mt. Baldy and the nearby Cape Fear Lighthouses were closed in the late 1950's.
