Old Acapulco

Situated on a crescent-shaped bay in the state of Guerrero, Acapulco is one of the oldest cities on Mexico's Pacific coast. The site was settled in pre-Columbian times, and by the 1530's it was the main Pacific port in the now-colonized Mexico. The town grew explosively in the 1950's, when it became a playground for the Hollywood set. In recent years, its tourism has declined due to drug-related violence in the area.
