Monticello Nuclear Power Plant, Minnesota
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant is a nuclear power plant located about 45 minutes northwest of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Built in 1971, its General Electric boiling water reactor produces just over 670 MW of power at its current rated nameplate capacity. One of roughly 60 nuclear plants operating in the United States as of 2019, the Monticello plant is owned by the Minneapolis-based utility company Xcel Energy. Check it out from above in this drone video by AirVuz contributor gopherdrone.

This is the Monticello Nuclear Generating Station near St. Cloud, Minnesota. It's the smaller of the two nuke plants in the state. Just to anticipate the question, except for a half-dozen or so government-owned civilian nuclear sites that have been specifically called out as no-drone zones by the FAA, it is not illegal to fly a drone over a nuclear power plant. Nor should it be: while there may be debate about whether that containment building can withstand a direct hit from a fully loaded airliner full of jet fuel (which is actually the standard for newer nike plants in the United States), there is really no debate at all about the risk posed by a two pound drone. It's zero. The two pound drone in this case is a DJI Mavic Pro 2.
