Monte Lema - 🍁 Autumn / Winter ❄️ (Ticino, Switzerland)

Monte Lema is located in the canton of Ticino, one of the main Italian-speaking provinces of the Swiss Federation. It's part of the Lugano Prealps, a chain of foothills of the Alps Mountains which lies along the Swiss-Italian border. Monte Lema has a peak elevation of just over 5.3k ft. above sea level (just over 1.6k m). Its summit is reachable by cable car from the nearby village of Miglieglia.

Mount Lema is the most majestic summit of Italian Switzerland. Its natural green terrace overlooks the Southern valleys of Ticino, the Lake of Lugano, the Valleys of Luino and of Lake Maggiore.

From Miglieglia, a picturesque village in Alto Malcantone, the Lema Mountain cable car takes just 10 minutes to reach the summit. Here the view extends from the valleys of southern Ticino and Lake Lugano to the valleys of Luino and Lake Maggiore. The horizon stretches as far as the snow-covered Graubunden and Bernese Alps, the Valais peaks and the gentle, teeming Po Valley.

Monte Lema offers a natural oasis from which a network of footpaths follow the crest of the mountains, as well as mountain bike trails. It also welcomes paragliding and aeromodelling enthusiasts. There is also a restaurant-hostel, a playground and an astronomical observatory at the arrival point of the funicular.
