Lake Bled is in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia, where it adjoins the town of Bled.
The ninth‐century Bled Castle is the oldest in Slovenia, perched precariously 130 meters up on a rocky precipice, with Bled Island (Blejski Otok) hosting St. Mary's Church, within the confines of the lake.
