Lake Bled, Slovenia

In just 35 seconds, top contributor NGreyTravels managed to capture the essence of one of the more iconic sights of the Alps: Lake Bled in northwestern Slovenia.  Situated in the heart of the Julian Alps, the lake's single island is home to the 17h century Assumption of Mary Church.  Access to the island is limited to gondola-shaped rowboats. Overlooking the lake is the magnificent Bled Castle, whose Romanesque tower dates to medieval times, while its outer buildings date to the Renaissance period.
