The Kalasha is actually a series of valleys in the Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the northwesternmost of the country's provinces. The valleys are surrounded by the peaks of the Hindu Kush, a mountain range which is situated to the west of the Himalayan Mountains and which covers portions of Pakistan, Afganistan, and Tajikstan. The valleys are inhabited by the indigenous Kalash people.
